1.Effects of Hypoxia and Endotoxin on Pulmonary Pressor Response and Lung Fluid Exchange in Conscious Goats
Journal of Third Military Medical University 1984;0(01):-
The effects of hypoxia and endotoxin, acting alone or in combination, on pulmonary pressor response and lung fluid exchange were studied in 9 conscious goats. Hypoxia(simulating a high altitude of 4,000 m for 5 hours) elevated the pulmonary arterial pressure, but exerted no effect on lung lymph flow, the protein concentration ratio between lymph and plasma, and the clearance rate of lung lymph protein. Three stages were noted after endotoxin injection; the phase of pulmonary hypertension, the phase of pulmonary microvascular injury, and the phase of increased pulmonary microvascular permeability. No obvious difference was observed when endotoxin was acting alone or in combination with hypoxia. The results suggest that 1) the mechanism of pulmonary pressor response induced by hypoxia is somewhat different from that induced by endotoxin, 2)no obvious increase in pulmonary microvascular permeability was noticed during hypobaric hypoxia, and 3) alveolar hypoxia could not enhance the endotoxin-induced lung injury.

Stenting is one of the effective approaches in the treatment of cerebrovascular stenosis. It may reduce the risk of ischemic stroke in patients with symptomatic and asymptomatic cerebrovascular stenosis. With the increasing number of stenting procedures in the treatment of cerebrovascular stenosis, various complications have received attention. This article reviews some common complications and their management.

Objective To explore the clinicopathological features and safety of surgical treatment in aged patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods The clinical data of 316 patients with HCC undergoing hepatectomy in our hospital from December 2005 to December 2008 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into an aged group (≥60 years,n= 72) and a non-aged group (<60 years, n=244). The clinicopathological data and surgical outcomes were compared between the 2 groups. Results The aged group presented less hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) positive rates and vascular invasion and a lower alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) value when compared with the non-aged group (P<0.05). No significant differences were found in the extent of hepatectomy, operative duration, intraoperative blood loss, blood transfusion requirements, incidence of postoperative complication and mortality rate between the 2 groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The aged patients with HCC were characterized by less HBsAg positive rate, vascular invasion and lower alphafetoprotein (AFP) value. Surgical resection for HCC in aged patients is safe. The attitude toward surgical treatment of aged patients with HCC should be active.

Objective To investigate ultrasound guidended nerve block of femoral nerve in emergency operation. Methods 40 patients who planned to accept surgery of feet, lower limb under knee. They were randomly devided into 2 groups:ultrasound guidended group and the control group.Femoral nerve and Sciatic nerve were blocked by ultrasound guidended technique or classic landmark technique.1.5% lidocaine was administered for nerve block.Sensory block was observed every 5 minutes in 30 minutes.Onset time, effect of anesthesia, algesia time and complications were recorded.T-test and varience difference were applied. Results The onset time of local anesthetics was faster in the ultrasound guided group than that of the control group.Effect of analgesia was better in in the ultrasound guided group than that of the control group. Conclusion Nerve block of femoral nerve and the sciatic nerve guided by ultrasound was better than the classic technique.

Objective To study the gene expression change of circumsporozoite protein (CSP) and erythrocyte binding protein (MAEBL) in the Plasmodium yoelii sporozoites from oocyst and salivary gland at different phases during Plasmodium yoelii development in mosquitos. Methods The total RNA of plasmodium was extracted from the abdomen on day 5, 7, 10 and the thoraces on day 12, 15, 18 after Anopheles stephensi was infected by Plasmodium yoelii, then the expression of CSP and MAEBL mRNA was analyzed by semiquantitative RT-PCR with rRNA 28S as control. Results The transcription of CSP and MAEBL of plasmodium sporozoite were obviously up-regulated during the mosquito stage (P

Objective To investigate the protective effect of flos puerariae flavonoid on adriamycin (ADR)-induced toxic myocarditis and its mechanisms from morphological, biochemical and molecular levels. Methods 96 healthy Kunming male mice were randomly divided into 6 groups:normal control group,ADR model control group,ADR+low dose of flos puerariae flavonoid group(50 mg/kg),ADR +middle dose of flos puerariae flavonoid group(100 mg/kg),ADR +high dose of flos puerariae flavonoid group(200 mg/kg),and Vit E positive control group(40 mg/kg),16 in each group. The drugs were orally administered for consecutive 15 d and the model of toxic myocarditis was induced by intraperitoneal injection of ADR(3 mg/kg)in mice from day 2,one time every other day,for 7 times Colorimetry was used to measure the changes of marker enzymes about myocardial injury and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)activity in serum and tissue;immunohistochemical method was adopted to detecte the expression of myocardial apoptosis related proteins Bax and bcl-2;HE staining was conducted to observe the pathological changes of cardiac structure. Results Compared with normal control group,ADR(3 mg/kg,ip,7 times)induced the elevation of serum creatine kinase (CK),lactate dehydrogenase (LDH),aspartate transaminase(GOT)and iNOS activity increased significantly in mice(P<0.01).Meanwhile myocardial superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity decreased, and the malondialdehyde(MDA)content increased(P<0.01).Myocardial cell apoptosis in mice increased significantly, and the apoptosis rate was(40.5 ± 5.2)%;the expressions of Bax and Bcl-2 were significantly increased(P<0.01),However,the Bcl-2/Bax ratio decreased. The flos puerariae flavonoid (50,100,200 mg/kg,ig,15 d)and Vit E positive control group could reverse the changes induced by ADR,decrease serum CK,LDH,GOT and iNOS activities, increased myocardial SOD activity, lower MDA content and the expression of bax protein, and elevated Bcl-2/Bax ratio,in a dose-dependent manner.Light microscopy confirmed that flos puerariae flavonoid significantly alleviated the changes of myocardial microstructure. Conclusion ADR could induce myocardial cell apoptosis and lead toxic myocarditis in experimental mice. The flos puerariae flavonoid has protective effect on ADR-induced myocardial injury and the mechanism may be related to elevating myocardial SOD activity and anti-lipid peroxidation, inhibiting the expression of Bax protein and adriamycin-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis.

Objective To observed the and - inflammatory effect of Qianlie Tai Granule (QTG) on chronic prostatitis. Methods Three models, asepsis and chronic aseptic prostatitis rat model, acute inflammation mouse model and chronic inflammation rat model, were adopted to observe the pharmacocynamic action of QTG. Results QTG decreased the number of WBC, inhibited the increasing of prostate tissue weight and improve the inflammatory lesion in prostate tissue of chronic aseptic inflammation rats. QTG also had an obvious inhibitory effect on early exudative auricular swelling induced by 2% compound croton oil and late proliferative granuloma induced by 2% agar. Conclusion QTG has an obvious effect for prostatitis. It can inhibit the early and late inflammation .
