Objective To explore rumination thinking and its influencing factors in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia.Methods From February to August 2017,a total of 234 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia were selected by convenient sampling method.Chinese version of Nolen-Hoeksema Ruminative Responses Scale,Self-Efficacy Scale for Managing Chronic Disease and Perceived Social Support Scale were used to collect data during waiting time.Univariate analysis and multiple linear stepwise regression analysis were used to analyze the influencing factors of rumination.Results The scores of rumination,selfefficacy and social support were (43.28 ± 8.68),(29.40 ± 6.32) and (55.48 ± 8.56) respectively.Social support,severity of disease and self-efficacy were influencing factors of rumination in benign prostatic hyperplasia patients,explaining 43.6% of the total variation.Conclusions Medical staff should regularly carry out health education for patients' families.Psychological intervention at early stage should be taken to patients with obvious symptoms.In order to reduce patient's rumination and negative emotions and improve the quality of life,intervention should be taken to improve the patient's self-efficacy.
