1.THE COMMON MARINE MEDICINAL ANIMALS IN NANJI ARCHIPELAGO MARINE NATURE RESERVE AND THEIR CLINICAL APPLICATIONS IN GYNECOLOGICAL DISEASES

This paper reports the effects of common marine medicinal animals and their clinical applications in gynecological diseases for the fist time in Nanji Archipelago National Marine Nature Reserve of Zhejiang Province. The results show that pharmacological effects of 93 species, which belong to 5 phyla, of marine medicinal animals are obvious in clinical applications of gynecological diseases. According to pharmacological effects, marine medicinal animals in clinical applications can be divided into twelve groups: 1. drugs for leukorrha-gia; 2. drugs for anemia and uterine bleeding; 3. drugs for intermenstrual flow or metror-rhagia; 4. oxytocic drug; 5. lactogenic drugs,- 6. drugs for menoxenia; 7. drugs for pregnancy hypertension; 8. drugs for postpartum hemorrhage; 9. drugs for postpartum constipation; 10. drugs for mastitis; 11. drugs for amenorrhoea; 12. emmenagogue;
2.The clinical significance of Helicobacter pylori infection and serum gastrin level in patients with colorectal carcinoma

Objective To investigate the relationship among Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection, serum gastrin level and colorectal carcinoma. Methods Fasting serum samples from 47 consecutive patients with colorectal carcinoma and 30 demoographically matched colonoscopy-negative controls were detected for serum gastrin levels and IgG antibodies against Hp (Hp IgG) by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Some of them accepted 14C urease breath test and/or rapid urease test after undergoing endoscopy. Hp infection was affirmed when at least two of the three tests were positive. Results The Hp infection incidence was significantly higher in patients with eoloreetal carcinoma (61.7%, 29/47) as compared with controls (36.7%, 11/30) (P<0.05). The Hp infection incidence in distal distribution of carcinoma was higher than that in controls, and in female carcinoma was higher than that in female controls(P <0.05). Mean fasting serum gas-trin levels were significantly higher in patients with coloreetal carcinoma[(139.7±53.3 ) ng/L]than those in controls [(89.5±26.1 ) ng/L] (P < 0.01 ). There was a significant association between hypergastrinemia and distal distribution of carcinoma. Conclusion Increasing serum gastrin levels, higher Hp infection incidence has a positive relationship with colorectal carcinoma.
3.Study of the molecular basis of an individual with Aw43 subtype of the ABO blood group.

OBJECTIVETo explore the molecular basis of an individual with A subtype of the ABO blood group.
METHODSThe ABO antigen and serum antibody of the proband and his parents and sister were detected by a serological method. The whole coding regions of the ABO gene were amplified by PCR and subjected to bidirectional sequencing.
RESULTSRed blood cells of the proband showed mixed field agglutination with anti-A but did not agglutinate with anti-B, and his serum did not agglutinate with A and O cells but with B cells. The proband was identified as an Aw phenotype. Heterozygous status of 1A/G, 106G/T, 188A/G, 189C/T, 220C/T, 261G/del, 297A/G, 467C/T, 646A/T, and 681A/G of the coding region of the ABO gene were identified by directly sequencing of the proband. The serological characteristics and nucleotide sequences of the mother were similar to those of the proband. However, the ABO genotypes of his father and sister were B101/O02 and O02/O02. The proband therefore has carried an O02 allele and a novel allele. Compared with A102, the novel allele contains 1A>G, which resulted in translation-initiator code change and was nominated as Aw43 by dbRBC of NCBI.
CONCLUSIONAn Aw43 subtype has been identified for the first time, which may be attributed to the 1A>G and 467C>T variants on the α1,3-N-acetyl-galactosaminyltransferase gene.

4.Current status about school health department settings and staff building of the centers for disease control and prevention in China

Objective:
To learn about the construction and staffing of the school health system in Chinese institutions for disease prevention and control, and to provide basic information for the school health system, team capacity building and work development.
Methods:
Electronic questionnaire was used to collect the setting and staffing of school health departments (including school health centers and departments/rooms) at the provincial, prefecture and county (district) levels in the centers for disease control and prevention. Statistical analysis was made on the proportion of school health, the number of staff and the characteristics such as age, education, major and working years in the provincial, prefecture and county (district) levels.
Results:
Among the 3 313 institutions, the proportion of independent school health departments was 10.8%, and those of the provincial, prefecture and county (district) levels were 74.2%, 15.0%, and 9.6%, respectively. Among the institutions with separated department, the average number of staff members was 4.4, while the number of staff was 2.5. The average age of school health workers was 40.4 years old, and the proportion of male and female employees was 45.2% and 54.8%. The proportion of personnel who have been engaged in school health work for less than 5 years on average was as high as 65.1%. The majors of the staff were mainly public health ( 40.4 %), 54.0% of the provincial staff had a master s degree or above, and 47.8% and 58.7% of the staff at the prefecture and county (district) levels were junior college or below respectively.The proportion of provincial level personnel with intermediate and senior titles was 69.6%, and the proportion of municipal and countylevel personnel at the junior level and below was 52.2% and 56.2% respectively.
Conclusion
The proportion of independent school health departments within centers of disease control and prevention across China was low. There is a serious shortage of school health personnel, and there are problems such as low levels of education and professional titles, especially in county (district) level institutions. It is urgent to strengthen the construction of the school health system of the centers for disease control and prevention in China.
5.Treatment of Paroxysmal Sympathetic Hyperactivity by the Method of “Returning Fire to Its Origin”

This paper summarized the clinical experience of using the method of “returning fire to its origin” for treatment of paroxysmal sympathetic hyperactivity (PSH). According to the causes and clinical characteristics of PSH, the author believes that the deficiency of kidney qi, and the loss of yin and yang are the basis of the pathogenesis of PSH. Fright causes qi to be chaotic as the triggering mechanism of PSH. The key mechanism of PSH is that the deficiency yang with upper manifestation, and the fire does not return to its origin. The treatment should be nourishing yin and astringing yang, by taking modified Yinhuo Decoction (引火汤) internally, and receiving warm moxibustion as the first choice externally with selected acupoints Guanyuan (CV 4), Mingmen (GV 4), and bilateral Yongquan (KI 1); For prevention, attention should be paid to take care of stomach qi, support healthy qi, and cultivate original qi.
