Objective To clarify if estrogen increases gastric mucosal injury in portal hypertensive rats and its role in the pathogenesis of portal hypertensive gastropathy. Methods Forty SD rats were divided into 4 groups:P + E, P, S + E and S groups. P + E and P groups received portal vein ligation and the S + E and S groups underwent sham operation. P + E and S + E groups were given estrogen intramascularly. All rats were maintained on their indiuidual treatment for 14 days. One hour before the sacrifice rats were orally lavaged with 2 ml 99% ethanol. Gastric mucosal blood flow, degree of gastric mucosal injury and mucosal NO production were determined. Results The P + E group had the highest gastric blood flow of (103?14) U compared with the other 3 groups (P

BACKGROUND: The biological behaviors of preadipocytes in adipose tissue of young animals have been closely linked to the onset and prevention and treatment of obesity. Observing mechanical oscillation effects on biomechanical behaviors of preadipocytes using biomechanical stimuli would provide more direct experimental evidence for treatment of simple obesity using manipulation and massage therapy.OBJECTIVE: Different frequencies of mechanical force stimulation were performed on preadipocytes from young rats cultured in vitro to observe the changes in cell viability, proliferation, and apoptosis.METHODS: Preadipocytes from SD young rats were in vitro cultured. Following identification, preadipocytes were dynamically, mechanically stimulated through the use of constant temperature oscillator. According to different treatment frequencies, three groups were set: 0 Hz (blank control), 1.5 Hz, and 3 Hz. A 30-minute oscillation, once every 12 hours, total 3 days, was performed in each group. Following dynamic mechanical stimulation, cell viability, proliferation, and apoptosis in young rats were observed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: In the initial stage of culture, cells exhibited the morphology similar to fibroblasts. After oil red O staining, red particles appeared in the cells, indicating that the young mouse cells cultured in vitro were preadipocytes. With stimulation of oscillation force, the viability and proliferation of preadipocytes were significantly inhibited (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). There wasno significant difference in effects of mechanical oscillation on preadipocyte apoptosis between 0 Hz and 1.5 Hz, 3 Hz groups (P > 0.05). These findings indicate that thecell biological mechanism underlying preventing simple obesity in adolescents is to inhibit the viability and proliferation of preadipocytes

Objective To compare the efficacy of pantoprazoh based short-term quadruple regimens in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. Pylori) infection for 4 days,5 days or 7days. Methods 166 patients with H. Pylori associated severe gastritis were randomly divided into pantoprozole quadruple regimens of 4-day group (n =61) ,5-day group (n = 54) or 7-day group (n = 51). The regimen was pantoprazole 40 mg,bismuth potassium citrate 220 mg,elarithromycin 250 mg and amoxicillin 1 g twice daily. The patients received pantoprazole for 1 week, bismuth potassium citrate for 2 weeks, clarithromycin and amoxicillin for 4 days,5 days or 7 days respectively. The H. Pylori eradication and symptomatic relief was determinded by 13C-UBT at least 4 weeks after the therapy. Results The H. Pylori eradication rates of 4-day,5-day or 7-day panteprazole quadruple regimens were 73.8% (45/61) ,75.9% (41/54) and 80.4% (41/51) respectively. The pain relief rates were 82.4% (42/51) ,85.1% (40/47) and 88.9% (40/45) in 4-day,5-day and 7 day group. Conclusion The 4-day and 5- day pantoprazoh based quadrual therapy is a short- term, effective, safe and lower therapeutic- cost regimen for H. Pylori eradication.

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of dual-energy subtraction chest digital radiography(DR) for detecting coronary artery calcification as compared with multi-detector row CT(MDCT).Methods 35 patients underwent dual-energy subtraction chest DR and ECG-gated MDCT for detection of coronary artery calcifications. The radiation dose of both DR and CT were noted respectively. Two senior and two junior radiologists reviewed the radiogram and assessed the calcifications in LAD,LCX and RCA totaling 105 vessels.ROC curve plotting were used for evaluation with CAC calculated from MDCT as the gold standard.Paired t test was calculated to compare the different radiation dose between DR and CT.Results 27.6% vessels(29/105) showed calcification on DR.The positive incidence in LAD was 48.5%(17/35),LCX 22.8%(8/35),and RCA 11.4%(4/35).The ROC area was 0.866,0.854,0.725,0.642 respectively, with a CAC score of more than 300.The average radiation dose was 0.469?0.22 mGy for DR,and 12.29?1.40 mGy for MDCT,showing significant differences. Conclusion Chest DR with dual energy subtraction can be used for screening of coronary artery calcification with relatively higher sensitivity for LAD.

Objective To compare the clinical effect, hematopoietic reconstitution, and adverse effects of compatriots HLA in the same period with haploidentical allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation among relatives for treatment of haematological malignancies. Methods 9 patients of compatriots HLA and 9 patients of haptoidentical allogeneic were recruited. The clinical effect, hematopoietic reconstitution, and transplant-related adverse effects of the observation groups were retrospectively analyzed. Results There was no statistical difference between the clinical effect in two groups, hematopoietic reconstitution, pretreatment-related toxicity and acute and chronic GVHD. The infusion volume of blood products, CMV infection and fungal infection in haploidentical transplant group was higher than that in compatriots HLA group. Conclusion HLA haploidentical family donor transplantation is a good way to increase the source of donor for the treatment of haematological malignancies.

Objective To investigate the change of high mobility group box 1 ( HMGBI ) after intestine ischemia reperfusion (I/R) in rats, compare the effect of drainage of intestine lymph fluid on gut barrier, and ex- plore the possible mechanism of iachemia-reporfusion injury. Methods Thirty-two Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats (SPF grade) were randomly divided into4 groups with 8 rats in each group: blank group, sham group, intestine is-chemia-reperfusion (I/R) group, and intestine ischemia-reperfusion with drainage of intestine lymph fluid (I/R +drainage) group. Indicators of gut barrier function damage, translocation of endotoxin, and change of HMGB1 and cytokines were detected after intestine ischemia-reperfusion injury. Results The gut barrier function damage and levels of endotoxin, HMGBI, tumour necrosis factor-alpha ( TNF-α), interleukin-6 ( IL-6 ), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) were significantly lower in blank group and sham group than in I/R group and I/R + drainage group ( P < 0. 05 ). Compared with the intestine I/R + drainage group, the levels of endotoxin and cytokines were significantly higher in the intestine I/R group. The level of HMGB1 was slightly higher than that in the intestine I/R + drainage group, but such difference was not statistically significant ( P > 0. 05 ). lmmunohistochemical staining also revealed that the expression of HMGB1 was significant- ly higher in I/R group than in I/R + drainage group. Conclusions Intestine iachemia-reperfusion injury can lead to the injury of intestine mucosal barrier and increase HMGB1 level HMGB1 may deteriorate gut barrier function and increase the leveh of systemic cytokines. Drainage of lymph fluid can block the gut-lymph pathway and thus decrease the levels of endotoxin and cytokines in systemic circulation and attenuate intestine ischemia-reperfusion injury.
