Objective:To explore clinical characteristics and diagnosis in aged patients with pulmonary embolism. Methods:The data of electrocardiogram (ECG),clinical characteristics and diagnosis were summarized and ana-lyzed in 56 aged patients with pulmonary embolism.Results:The most frequent symptom was exertional dyspnea (69.6%).ECG had characteristic changes in 12 patients (21.4%).All 56 patients received multi-slice spiral CT pulmonary arteriography,and thrombus within pulmonary artery was found in all patients (100%);38 cases re-ceived nuclide lung ventilation perfusion scanning,the results were 32 cases (84.2%)with mismatching pulmonary perfusion and ventilation imaging;Ultrasound examine found there were phlebothrombosis in deep vein of lower limb of 26 cases (46.4%).Misdiagnosis:The 26 cases (46.4%)were misdiagnosed.A total of 14 cases (53.8%) were misdiagnosed as respiratory system diseases,including eight cases of infectious shock and six cases with pulmo-nary infection;12 cases (46.2%)were misdiagnosed as circulatory system diseases,including five cases of acute cor-onary syndrome,four cases of heart failure and three cases of cardiogenic shock.Conclusion:The most frequent symptom is exertional dyspnea in aged patients with pulmonary embolism;ECG has characteristic changes only in few patients;the pulmonary arteriography is major diagnosis method.

Objective To explore the possible pathogenesis of brain damage in rats induced by prednisone or corticotrophin. Methods The doses of prednisone or corticotrophin were determined by a primary experiment to obtain corresponding plasma cortisol or corticosterone level as same as that in sick children after drug taking. Then 192 healthy infant (at the age of 7 d) and 192 adult (at the age of 2 months) male SD rats were divided into 4 groups as infant prednisone group, adult prednisone group, infant corticotrophin group and adult corticotrophin group (n=96 in each). then every group was further subdivided into 12 subgroups (n=8 in each). The subgroups were divided according to the dose (therapeutic or low doses), the course [short (10 d) or long (3 weeks)], the sacrificed time (24 h or 4 weeks after withdrawal), and their corresponding controls. Serum neuron-specific enolase (NSE) concentration was quantified by ELISA. Expressions of apoptosis-related proteins, Bax and Bcl-2 in the brain were detected by immunohistochemical assays. Neuronal apoptosis was detected by TUNEL. Results Our primary experiment indicated that the therapeutic dose was 4 mg?kg-1?d-1 or 150 U?m-2?d-1 for prednisone or corticotrophin, and the small dose was 2 mg?kg-1?d-1 or 38 U?m-2?d-1 for them. In infant rats treated with prednisone or corticotrophin at therapeutic-dose for short or long term, their serum NSE concentration were increased significantly by 50.6% to 103.2%. Objective To explore the application and efficacy of autogenous septal cartilage in the correction of cleft lip nasal deformity.Methods A total of 31 patients with secondary nasal deformity of cleft lip were involved in this study.After autologous nasal cartilage was released,the dislocation of nasal cartilage was corrected,nasal septum cartilage was used as substitute to raise the alar collapse,to reshape the nasal tip cartilage structure and correct the nasal deformity.Results Postoperative incision was primarily healing.For cartilage donor area there was no serious complications,and incision scar was concealed and unobvious; after 6 months to 2 years follow-up,there was no cartilage absorption deformation,the tip of the nose was flat,crack side nosewing collapses,and nasal columella skew was totally corrected,with stable rhinoplasty effects.Conclusions For secondary nasal deformity of cleft lip,the use of nasal septum cartilage to repair nose deformity can not only solve the cartilage source,but also give septal straightening and at the same time the correction effect of external nasal deformity is good.

Objective:To study the short-term effects,toxic side effects and immune function of Aidi injection adjuvant GP methods chemotherapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods:130 patients with advanced NSCLC were divided into study group and the control group according to treatment methods.The study group were given Aidi injection +GP,and the control group only treated with GP.The short-term effects,toxic side effects gradeⅢ-Ⅳand immune function changes were compared between the two groups.Results:The overall response rate was 40.28%in study group,higher than 37.93% in control group(P>0.05).The two groups showed differences in the rates of leucocyte decrease,gastrointestinal reaction and platelets decrease(P<0.05).The levels of CD4,CD8 and CD4/CD8 didn′t changed obviously in study group(P>0.05),while in the control group the levels of CD4,CD8 and CD4/CD8 changed more significantly than before(P<0.05).The two groups also produced differences in CD4,CD8 and CD4/CD8 after treatment( P<0.05 ) .Conclusion: The short-term effects of Aidi injection adjuvant GP chemotherapy regimen for advanced NSCLC is similar to only GP chemotherapy,but it can obviously reduce the incidence of toxic side effects and prevent the immune func-tion.

Objective:To observe the efficacy and safety of compound danshen dripping pills(DDP)combined with intralesional tri-amcinolone acetonide(TA)injection in the treatment of oral submucous fibrosis(OSF).Methods:34 patients with clinically con-firmed OSF were randomly divided into 2 groups(n =17)and treated with DDP +TA and TA respectively,meanwhile the VAS of pain and mouth opening were recorded and compared.Results:Before treatment there was no statistical difference of the VAS scores and mouth opening between 2 groups(P >0.05),12 weeks after treatment,the difference was significant(P ＜0.05).The clinical condi-tion of treatment group were improved(χ2 =6.051,P ＜0.05),but there were no improvement in control group(χ2 =3.429,P >0.05).Conclusion:Compound danshen dripping pills combined with intralesional triamcinolone acetonide injection can significantly enhance the effects safely in the treatment of OSF.

OBJECTIVEThis study is conducted to explore new methods to perform surface biomodification of titanium implants and improve osteogenic efficiency.

METHODSAn RGD peptide and chitosan (CS) were combined by acylation reaction, forming RGD-CS. An RGD-CS/pDNA complex was subsequently prepared using a complex coacervation method and grafted on a pure titanium surface after physical and biochemical treatments were performed. The chemical structural characteristics of RGD-CS were evaluated using an infrared spectrometer and an elemental analyzer. The shape of this complex was then assessed by gel electrophoresis combined with atomic force microscopy. The grafting effect of this complex on the titanium surface was detected by EB staining.

RESULTSCS and RGD peptides were coupled by an amide bond. The RGD-CS/pDNA complex was completely composited at N/P > or = 2. Atomic force microscopy results showed that the morphology of this complex was mainly spherical. EB staining experiments showed that this complex was successfully grafted on the titanium plate.

CONCLUSIONRGD peptide-modified CS can be used as a titanium implant surface plasmid package carrier of pDNA.

Objective To investigate the morbidity rate of hyperuricemia and its association with hypertriglyceridemia and hypertension in elderly people in Fujian Quanzhou.Methods A crosssectional population survey for hyperuricemia was performed in Fujian Quanzhou.Questionnaire and physical examination were conducted in 1358 subjects.The levels of serum UA and lipid-profile as well as blood pressure were measured.Results In the same aged group,the level of blood uric acid was significantly higher in male (371.7±83.6) μmol/L than in female (294.8±66.5) μmol/L (t=15.8,P＜0.01).Blood uric acid concentration was gradually increased with aging in the group at age 40-70 years,but was gradually decreased with aging in female group aged over 70 years (F=12.1,P＜0.01).The total morbidity rate of hyperuricemia was 18.6％.The incidence of hypertriglyceridemia or hypertension in female with hyperuricemia was higher than those with normouricemia (22.1％ vs.10.5％,59.1％ vs.26.2％,x2=16.3,65.0,all P＜0.01).The incidence of hypertension in male with hyperuricemia was higher than those with normouricemia (54.6％ vs.42.8％,x2=4.0,P＜0.05).Conclusions The morbidity rate of hyperuricemia in elderly people is higher in south China coast than other region of China.The incidence of hypertriglyceridemia and hypertension in people with hyperuricemia is significantly higher than those with normouricemia.

BACKGROUND:With the development of three-dimensional (3D) printing technology, 3D printed porous titanium scaffolds as bone substitutes have become a research hotspot. OBJECTIVE:To introduce and discuss the effects of each parameter of 3D printed porous titanium scaffolds on bone ingrowth, and to sum out the optimal parameters for bone ingrowth. METHODS:The first author retrieved PubMed, Springerlink and Medline databases with“three-dimensional (3D) printing, scaffold, titanium, bone ingrowth”as keywords for relevant articles published from 2006 to 2016. 125 articles were retrieved initial y, and final y 42 eligible articles were included for analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Pore size, porosity, pore structures and surface modifications of 3D printed porous titanium scaffolds al make effects on bone ingrowth or osteoblasts in scaffolds. Scaffolds with appropriate pore size and porosity can promote the vascularization and provide adequate nutrition and oxygen supplement, to ensure high cel viability. Regulations of cel performances, such as cel attachment, proliferation and differentiation, are also affected by pore structures and nano-scale surface modification. Herein, a detailed combination of the parameters, as mentioned above, can create a better porous scaffold for better bone ingrowth. Hence, the high-stability interface between bone and scaffolds may be obtained through the parameter adjustment.
