Cancer Research and Clinic 2011;23(3):145-149
Objective To describe the development of nodules of altered hepatocytes (NAH) in chronic hepatitis B and to reveal progression of the nodules to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods HCC, NAH and ordinary regenerative nodules (ORN) were identified and compared histologically. Expression levels of hepatitis B virus (HBV) antigens, mitoactivity and p53 accumulation in these lesions were evaluated by immunohistochemistry. Results Multiple foci of altered hepatocytes (FAH) and NAH were identified in the liver parenchyma surrounding HCC in all of the samples examined. Sequential architectural and cellular changes were observed during the progression of FAH to NAH and HCC. Expression levels of HBV surface and core antigens were found to be significantly decreased in ORN, NAH and HCC, with their positive rates being 70 % (35/50), 50 % (25/50), 10 % (5/50) and 60 % (30/50), 40 % (20/50), 6 % (3/50), respectively (P <0.05). Ki-67-1abelling indices were determined to be (0.58±0.49) %, (2.46±1.05) % and (40.36±26.27) %in these lesions, respectively (P <0.05). Nuclear p53 accumulation was found only in HCC. Its occurrence was associated to a high histological grade, with its frequencies being 13 % (1/8), 41% (11/27) and 73 % (11/15)in grade 1, 2 and 3 lesions, respectively. Conclusion NAH lesions, identified by their morphologic features and mitoactivity elevation, are detectable in resected liver samples with chronic hepatitis B and cirrhosis. They represent a common HCC precursor and can be used as a surrogate marker for the surveillance of high-risk individuals.

Objective To investigate the clinical and renal pathologic features of isolated hematuria in children and the relationship between them. Methods A retrospective review of 251 cases of isolated hematuria undergone renal biopsy from 1995 to 2008 in our hospital were conducted to analyze their clinical manifestations and renal pathologic features. Results Among the pathologic changes, minor abnormalities was found in 93 cases (37.05%), normal biopsies in 62 cases (24.70%), IgA nephropathy (IgAN) in 52 cases (20.72%), thin basement membrane nephropathy (TBMN) in 17 cases(6.77%), mesangial proliferative giomerulonephritis(MsPGN) in 16 cases (6.37%), focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) in 5 cases (1.99%), focal proliferative glomerulonephritis (FPGN) in 5 cases (1.99%), capillary proliferative glomerulonephritis (EnPGN) in 1 case (0.40%). IgAN was more popular in gross hematuria group than that in microscopic hematuria group (31.88% vs 16.48%, P<0.05). zcording to Haas classification, the ratio of class Ⅲ in two groups had no statistical significance (microscopic vs gross: 16.67% vs 4.55%, P>0.05). In the 35 cases (102 cases were detected) with elevated urinary microalbuminuria, the proportion of IgAN Ⅲ was significantly higher than those cases without urinary microalbuminuria (14.28% vs 0%, P<0.01). There were more FSGS and FPGN (total 20.00%) and less minor abnormalities (28.57%) in these cases as compared to the normal albuminuria cases (1.49% and 58.21%, all P<0.01). Conclusion The main pathologic changes of isolated hematuria in children are minor abnormalities, normal and IgAN. IgAN is more popular in the cases with gross hematuria. Elevated urinary microalbuminuria may be an indicator of more serious pathologic changes in children with isolated hematuria.

This study was aimed to explore the influence of extreme environment changes on the lung immune function in rats. Artificial climate system was used to simulate six extreme weathers, which were the sudden temperature increase (ZS), sudden temperature drop (ZJ), continuous high temperature (CG), continuous low temperature (CD), high temperature and high humidity (GWGS), normal temperature and high humidity (CWGS). And then, the method of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was adopted to detect bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and related immune substances in lung tissues. The results showed there was significant difference of ZJ on IL-10 (P<0.05). There were significant differences of CG, CD, GWGS, and CWGS on IL-6, INF-γ and sIgA (P<0.05). Contents of the GWGS group and CWGS group were higher than that of the CG group and CD group. There was very significant difference on IL-10 in the CD group (P<0.01). It was concluded that the extreme environment changes had different influence on body’s immune. And different intervention factors cause the body’s immune factors to response accordingly.
