ObjectiveTo investigate the expression and localization of midkine (MK) in human hepatocellular carcinoma. MethodsIn situ hybridization and immunohistochemical analysis for MK were performed on samples of both tumor tissues and paratumor tissues from HCC and benign liver tumors. ResultsThe distribution and localization of the MK transcripts′ signals determined by in situ hybridization were similar to those obtained by immunohistochemical analysis. Most HCC tissues showed enhanced positive reaction within cytoplasm to both MK probe and MK immunostaining. There was no significant difference in clinicopathological parameters between MK negative and positive cases of HCC. ConclusionsHuman hepatocellular carcinoma overexpresses MK at the mRNA and protein level.

Objective To study the influence of probiotics on the gut microflora, digestive enzymes and small intestinal propulsive rate of rats with severe head injury. Methods The rat model of severe head injury was prepared, SD rats were randomly divided into group A (enteml nutrition) , group B (enteral nutrition plus probiotics) , and group C (normal diet) . The intestine mucesa and faeces were collected on the third day,7th day and 14th day after head injury in order to detect gut microflora, digestive enzymes and small intestinal propulsive rate. Results Compared with group C, the number of Lactobacillus and Bacillus bifidus group in group A and group B declined in two weeks after trauma, however, the number of Escherichia coli increased significantly. Bacillus bifidus amounts of group A were significantly lower than that of group B at every time point, the diversity of Escherichia coli was opposite. No difference was seen in content of Lactobacillus 7 days after trauma in group A and B. The level of disaecharidases, Na+- K+- ATPase and small intestinal propulsive rate declined significantly at every time point, compared with group C.Though the contents of digestive enzymes was higher in group B than that of group A, and small intestinal propulsive rate was higher in group A and B than that in group C, but the two groups showed no difference. Conclusions Probiotics can alleviate the in-testine microflora disorder, modulate the activities of digestive enzymes, therefore lessen malabsorption of rats with severe head injury.

OBJECTIVE To investigate and evaluate the effects of intact-bridge tympanoplasty using auricular cartilage in treating chronic otitis media. METHODS A retrospective review of 86 cases undergoing an intact-bridge tympanomastoidectomywas performed from July,2013 to May,2016.The auricular cartilage was placed on the attic and tympanic antrum entrance to reconstruct the attic. RESULTS The outcome of dry ear and well-epithelialized mastoid cavities was achieved after 4-6 weeks. After 6-month follow-up no recurrence occurred. The pure-tone average threshold improved by (25.4±6.3) dB HL after operation, and the mean air bone gap was elevated. CONCLUSION On the basis of combination of closed and open techniques, the IBM technique is a optimal cure strategy for chronic otitis media, which can not only remove the pathological changes thoroughly to prevent disease recurrence but also maximally improve the hearing of the diseased ear.The closure of attic with auricular cartilage can ensure the space of the ossicular chain.

Objective To find a simple, effective and inexpensive method for acid copper-containing waste water treatment. Methods Studied the processing of the leaching waste water from the laboratory of East China Institute of Technology and simulated acid copper mine waste water(concentration of Cu2+ is 143.00 mg/L, pH: 1.80-2.00) using the processed eggshells to treat acid copper-containing waste water under the condition of different calcining temperature, eggshells amount, eggshells size and stirring speed. Results The best condition was that the calcining temperature was 400 ℃, the amount of eggshells was 25 g/L, the size of eggshells was 0.25 mm, the stirring speed was 240 r/min. The eggshells could increase the pH values from 1.80-2.00 to 6.86-7.34 and reduce Cu2+ concentration from 0.43 mg/L to 0.09 mg/L, the concentration of Cu2+ in the treated waste water could answer for the first level of the Integrated Waste Water Discharge Standard(GB 8978-1996), the removal rates could reach 99.70%-99.94%. Conclusion Using eggshells to treat acid copper-containing waste water has application prospects for the process, is simple and easy to be operated, the treatment effect is good.

Objective To explore the effect of dietary knowledge of diabetes on the readmission rate on patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods Totally 334 patients of type 2 diabetes from Suzhou finished the general information and the questionnaires of knowledge of diabetes diet. The impacts of knowledge of diabetes dietary on their readmission rates were also analyzed. Results Both whether having hypoglycemia or not and the score of diabetes dietary knowledge were associated with readmission rate within half a year. Those having low blood sugar (B=1.276, P<0.01) and higher score of diabetes dietary knowledge (B = 0.049, P = 0.006) had higher readmission rate. Further analysis showed that patients with low blood sugar getting higher score of diabetes dietary knowledge had higher hospital admission rate (P = 0.01). Conclusions The readmission rate of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients was impacted by hypoglycemia occurrence and the familiarity degree of diabetes diet knowledge. So it′s important to further explore the causes and make the reasonable intervention to reduce the readmission rate.
