Objective To compare the comprehension monitoring in reading between students with and without hearing impairment. Methods An error detection paradigm and an eye-movement recordings method were used in two samples of hearing impairment students and no-hearing impairment students with passages that contained inconsistencies with interval 2 sentences, 4 sentences, 6 sentences and 8 sentences. Results The scores of reading comprehension, the index of tradition monitoring and the index of eye movement were lower in the hearing impairment students than in the no-hearing impairment students (P<0.05). Conclusion The comprehension monitoring ability in reading is poor in the hearing impairment students.

Objective To explore the effect of the traumatic brain injury on the fracture healing and the related mechanism. Methods 64 12-week-old SD rats were randomly divided into 2 groups: The femoral fracture with a brain injury group and the femoral fracture group. The bone callus was obtained 1, 2, 3 and 4 week after operation respectively, and observed with the HE staining. The vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and VEGF mRNA in the callus were detected with immunohistochemical staining and hybridization in situ. Results The formation and reforming of the callus in group with brain injury were ahead to only fracture. The percentages of the cells positive for VEGF and VEGF mRNA in the callus were more in group with brain injury than in pure fracture group at the same time point (P<0.05). Conclusion Traumatic brain injury can promote the healing of fracture, which is probably related to an increase in the expression of VEGF.

CONCLUSIONS:The method is simple, accurate and reproducible, and can be used for the contents determination of gallic ac-id,protocatechuic acid, catechuic acid, corilagin and brevifolincarboxylic acid in G. carolinianum.

Objective To investigate the expression of advanced glycation end products(AGEs)in a rat model of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)induced by dehydroepiandrosterone. Methods The PCOS rat model was established using dehydroepiandrosterone . After confirming that the model rats were set up successfully, serum AGEs concentrations were measured using competitive ELISA and the expression of AGEs in the ovarian tissues of these rats was detected using immunohistochemistry. Results The serum AGEs level in the experimental group were signifi?cantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). Furthermore,AGEs expression were significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group(P<0.01). Conclusion AGEs are highly expressed in the rat PCOS model, signifying their importance in the diagnosis and pathogenesis of PCOS.

Objective: To study the immunotherapeutic effect on the esopgageal adenocarcinoma mediated by gp96-peptide complexes isolated from the same kind of tumor. Methods: gp96- peptide complexes were purified from nude mice tumors burdened by subcutaneous injection of human esophageal adenocarcinoma cell line SEG-1 . gp96-peptide complexes were carried by the dendritic cells(DC) induced from human peripheral blood mononuclear cells to prepare gp96-DC vaccine. The proliferation of lymphocytes was tested with trypan-blue stain. The quantity of interferon-?(IFN-?) released from cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) was detected with ELISA method. The killing effect of CTL on target cell SEG-1 was measured with MTT. Results: We obtained 120 ?g gp96 from 55 g tumor tissue. DC, gp96, and gp96-DC all could elicit the proliferation of lymphocytes and make them becoming into CTL which released IFN-? and showed different degrees of killing effect on target cell SEG-1. gp96-DC has the strongest eliciting effect among them. At the ratio of E(effect) to T(target) as 40∶1,the killing rate was 68%.No significant difference between the effects of CTL induced by DC alone and of lymphocytes without specific antigen on SEG-1 and K562 cells. Conclusion: The gp96-peptide complexes from tumors can improve the effect of eliciting lymphocyte proliferation of DC and make the lymphocyte becoming into CTL more effectively. These CTLs show prominent killing effect on the target tumor cells.

Objective To investigate the actuality of self-compassion and perceived social support among probationer nursing students, and to analyze the relationship between them. Methods 552 probationer nursing students from three tertiary hospitals in Suzhou were investigated by means of the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) and Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS). Results The probationer nursing students′ self-compassion and perceived social support was (3.20 ± 0.61) points and (5.81 ± 1.13) points, respectively. Scores of the total scale and the factors of self-compassion and perceived social support were positively correlated (r=0.485, P<0.01). Hierarchical regression analysis showed that perceived social support (family support and friend support) could be used to forecast the self-compassion of probationer nursing students and independently explain the variation of their self-compassion of 21.5%(△R2=0.215, P<0.01). Conclusions Self-compassion among probationer nursing students is in medium level, and perceived social support an important factor affecting their self-compassion.

Clinical Medicine of China 2015;31(8):704-707
Objective To study the correlation between amino terminal B-type natriuretic peptide precursor(NT-proBNP) and risk factors of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) with elder patients. Methods One hundred and twenty-eight ACS patients were divided into unstable angina pectoris (UAP) group with 52 samples,ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) group with 35 samples and non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) group with 41 samples.Meanwhile 45 healthy elder people were adopted as control group.Firstly, the subjects of blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and smoking numbers were measured.Secondly, venous blood was collected to assay NT-proBNP,cardiac troponin Ⅰ (cTn Ⅰ),homocysteine (Hcy),blood-lipoids and C-reactive protein(CRP).Lastly, ultrasonic cardiogram was used to test left ventricular end diastolic diameter(LVEDD),left ventricular end systolic diameter (LVESD) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).In addition, correlation analysis was researched between NT-proBNP and other factors. Results NT-proBNP levels of UAP,STEMI and NSTEMI groups were significantly higher than the control group ((794.18±182.64) ng/L,(872.43±245.67) ng/L,(557.25±163.81) ng/L) and (125.84±59.27) ng/L,P < 0.05).NT-proBNP was positive correlation with systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure,Hcy and CRP (r=0.182,0.176,0.281,0.191;P=0.040,0.043,0.001,0.031),however negative with LVEF(r=-0.247,P =0.005).Conclusion NT-proBNP level is sensitive to monitor ACS variety, and it is significant to test NT-proBNP combining Hcy,CRP,and cTn Ⅰ for diagnosing and treating ACS.

To investigate the exon mutation of vitamin K-dependent gamma-glutamyl carboxylase (GGCX or VKDC) in patients with calcium oxalate urolithasis, renal cortex and peripheral blood samples were obtained from severe hydronephrosis patients (with or without calculi), and renal tumor patients undergoing nephrectomy. GGCX mutations in all 15 exons were examined in 44 patients with calcium oxalate urolithiasis (COU) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and denatured high pressure liquid chromatography (DHPLC), and confirmed by sequencing. Mutation was not found in all COU samples compared to the controls. These data demonstrated that functional GGCX mutations in all 15 exons do not occur in most COU patients. It was suggested that there may be no significant association between the low activity and mutation of GGCX in COU.
