Objective To observe the effect of Tongqiao Huoxue decoction on the changes of motilin (MTL) and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and its protective effect on gastric mucosa in rats with cerebral infarction at acute stage. Methods According to random number table, 96 Wistar rats were divided into six groups: normal control, sham operation, cerebral infarction model, cimetidine, Tongqiao Huoxue decoction routine dose and low dose groups, eachn = 16. Cerebral infarction model group was established by using a suture to ligate the middle cerebral artery, resulting in its occlusion. The rats of cerebral infarction model group and sham operation group were lavaged with 2 mL of normal saline. Tongqiao Huoxue decoction routine dose group was lavaged with 2 mL of Tongqiao Huoxue decoction (1.3 g/mL), while Tongqiao Huoxue decoction low dose group was lavaged with 1 mL of Tongqiao Huoxue decoction (1.3 g/mL) plus 1 mL of normal saline. Cimetidine group was lavaged with cimetidine (0.1 g/kg), and nothing was done for the normal control group. On the 4th and 7th day after the delivery of treatment, inferior vena venous blood samples were collected to detect the plasma MTL and VIP concentrations. Then the gastric tissues were obtained and examined under an electron microscope. Results There were no statistically significant differences between the normal control group and sham operation group in plasma levels of MTL and VIP (bothP > 0.05). The plasma levels of MTL and VIP at 4 days and 7 days after the delivery of treatment in cerebral infarction model group were higher than those in the normal control group and sham operation group [4 days MTL (ng/L): 189.51±13.48 vs. 117.01±11.38, 117.67±12.73, VIP (ng/L): 94.86±4.14 vs. 60.98±5.42, 62.55±6.60, bothP < 0.05; 7 days: MTL (ng/L): 183.05±14.49 vs. 119.79±10.64, 120.27±11.48, VIP (ng/L): 91.92±3.77 vs. 59.63±4.29, 58.10±4.99, bothP < 0.05]. Plasma levels of MTL and VIP in cimetidine group, Tongqiao Huoxue decoction routine dose group and low dose group were significantly lower than those in cerebral infarction model group. Compared with Tongqiao Huoxue decoction low dose group and cimetidine group, the degrees of descent in plasma levels of MTL and VIP were apparently lower on the 7th day in Tongqiao Huoxue decoction routine dose group [MTL (ng/L): 138.72±8.02 vs. 152.16±12.66, 156.60±11.87, bothP < 0.05; VIP (ng/L):68.18±3.41 vs. 81.12±3.98, 78.89±2.13, bothP < 0.05]. The results of electron microscope: compared with normal control group and sham operation group, obvious pathological changes in gastric mucosa in model group were found. In Tongqiao Huoxue decoction routine group, Tongqiao Huoxue decoction low dose group and cimetidine group, the gastric mucosal lesions were milder, and the curative effects of Tongqiao Huoxue decoction routine group were much better. Conclusions During the acute stage of cerebral infarction, significant damage is seen in gastric mucosa in rats. Tongqiao Huoxue decoction not only can effectively regulate the expression levels of MTL and VIP, but also has certain protective effect on gastric mucosa, and its efficacy being directly proportional to the dosage.

Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2009;25(1):1-9
Lipoxygenases (linoleate: oxygen oxidoreductase, EC 1.13.11.12; LOXs) are encoded by a multi-gene family in plants. The LOXs are monomeric non-heme, non-sulfur iron dioxygenases, which catalyze the incorporation of molecular oxygen into polyunsaturated fatty acids containing a cis, cis-1,4-pentadiene moiety. The LOX isoforms are distinguished by differences in optimum pH of the reaction, pI, substrate and product specificity, spatial and temporal expression, and subcellular localization. The function of various LOXs in plants has been suggested. Some of the physiological processes in which lipoxygenases have been implicated include wounding, pathogen attack, seed germination, fruit ripening, plant senescence, and synthesis of Abscisic acid (ABA) and Jasmonic acid (JA). During normal vegetative and reproductive growth, lipoxygenases have also been suggested to act as vegetative storage proteins, participate in transference of lipoid, and response to nutrient stress and source/sink relationships. Significant progress in understanding LOX families will be beneficial to the application of the LOX in crop breeding, research on new-type phytoalexin and food industry.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2024;40(2):108-114
Objective:To investigate the relationship between body mass index(BMI) and osteoporosis using Mendelian randomization analysis. Methods:The genetic variation strongly related to BMI was selected as the instrumental variables in the collection data set of the genome-wide association study(GWAS). The MR-Egger regression, weighted median estimator(WME), inverse variance weighted(IVW), simple mode and weighted mode were used for Mendelian randomization(MR) analysis. The causal association between BMI and osteoporosis was evaluated by odds ratio and 95% confidence interval. The MR-APSS method was applied to make the causal inference results based on MR more reliable. The Linkage disequilibrium score regression was applied to evaluate the genetic correlation, and the horizontal pleiotropy test, heterogeneity test, and leave-one-out method were used to evaluate whether the results were reliable, The influence of heterogeneity and horizontal pleiotropy were reduced by the MR-PRESSO outlier test. Results:A total of 421 SNPs were included, with inverse variance-weighted method as the main analysis approach. The calculated OR value and 95% CI were 0.994(95% CI 0.992-0.997), indicating a protective effect of BMI on osteoporosis. The MR-APSS method showed that the effect of BMI on osteoporosis was statistically significant. Linkage disequilibrium score regression demonstrated a genetic correlation between BMI and osteoporosis. MR-Egger regression intercept showed no horizontal pleiotropy of instrumental variables, and the funnel plot showed no bias in instrumental variables. Leave-one-out analysis confirmed robust results. Conclusion:There may be a negative causal relationship between BMI and osteoporosis and BMI is a protective factor for osteoporosis.

Mild cognitive impairment(MCI)is often regarded as a prodromal stage of dementia, primarily characterized by mild decline in cognitive function.Due to the mild nature of its symptoms, many MCI cases miss the opportunity for intervention.Research indicates that linguistic changes in MCI may precede other cognitive symptoms, providing an opportunity for early identification and intervention. These linguistic changes include abnormalities in speech rate, pronunciation, and intonation.Speech repetition tasks, such as the five-word test, delayed digit matching, and sentence repetition tests, are effective methods for assessing the speech characteristics of MCI patients. These tasks involve asking patients to repeat specific content, and analyzing the accuracy of their repetitions to assess their speech function. The application of machine learning and deep learning techniques enables automatic extraction of MCI-related features from speech data, improving diagnostic accuracy. The combined application of these techniques contributes to the early detection of MCI,providing a basis for timely intervention.

Objective To investigate the immune status characteristics of primary ITP patients with abnor-mal auto-antibodies. Methods A total of 110 patients were enrolled in our study, who were admitted in Fu-Xing Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University from January 2001 to July 2015.According to whether the patients have autoimmune diseases and the presence of auto-antibodies,we divided the patients into 3 groups, including the primary ITP with abnormal auto-antibodies(PITP-ANA)group,the primary ITP(PITP)group and the second-ary ITP(SITP)group. We compared the T-cell subsets, regulatory T cells,B lymphocytes, changes of immunoglob-ulin and bone marrow biopsy and cytology of patients among the three groups, retrospectively. Results The per-centage of CD3+T cells(61.72 ± 10.60)% in PITP-ANA group was lower than that in PITP group(69.57 ± 11.99)%. The percentage of CD8+T lymphocyte(24.00 ± 7.67)% was significantly lower than that of PITP group (30.59 ± 11.08)%(P<0.05).The proportion of Treg in PITP group,PITP-ANA group and SITP group were(6.12 ± 1.41)%,(7.50 ± 2.76)% and(8.49 ± 2.47)%,respectively,with statistically significant differences. The ra-tio of CD19+T cell in PITP-ANA group(25.75 ± 9.98)%was significantly higher than that in PITP group(16.16 ± 8.19)%(P < 0.01). The concentration of IgG、IgA、κ light chain and λ light chain in PITP group,PITP-ANA group and SITP group showed an upward trend and the highest level was in the SITP group, with statistically signifi-cant differences among the three groups. A variety of abnormal auto-antibodies could be found in both PITP-ANA group and SITP group. Conclusions We consider that the immune function abnormity of patients in PITP-ANA group were worse than that in PITP group, because the concentration of immunoglobulin, the percentage of B lym-phocyte and Treg ratio are higher in than those in PITP group.
