Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), featuring as no ionizing radiation, higher soft tissue resolution and multiplanar imaging, has been widely used in the diagnosis of pediatric tumors. Conventional MRI techniques mainly provide information on morphological information of tumors but cannot display physiological and pathological changes in tumors. In recent years, with rapid development of MRI hardware and software, some functional MRI technologies have been applied in clinical practice and have become an important trend on pediatric oncology. These techniques include perfusion-weighted imaging, diffusion-weighted imaging, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, susceptibility weighted imaging. These new technologies can demonstrate the microstructural information of tumors, which will provide more helpful information for diagnosis, treatment and follow-up in pediatric tumors when combined with conventional MRI techniques.

This article introduced the thoughts and practice of implementing microbiology course reform for stomatology majors in school of stomatology and department of microbiology in Tianjin medical university.To make the introductory courses more suitable and meet the needs of stomatology better,our microbiology classes included the basic knowledge of oral microoganism.

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of selective arterial chemotherapy after radiotherapy for advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (stageⅢ,Ⅳa). Methods Sixty patients with advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma were randomized to receive either combined elective arterial chemotherapy and radiotherapy (IACT group, 30 patients) or combined general intravenous chemotherapy and radiotherapy(IVCTgroup, 30 patients). Four weeks after radiotherapy, the effect of two methods was compared. Results The efficiency rate and the 1-year local disease control rate were 93.33 %, 92.86 % in IACT and 70.00 %, 71.43 % in IVCT, respectively. AIM To establish an HPLC method for the simultaneous content determination of narirutin,naringin,hesperidin,neohesperidin,honokiol and magnolol in Liuhe Dingzhong Pills (Aurantii Fructus,Citri reticulatae Pericarpium,Magnoliae officinalis Cortex,etc.).METHODS The analysis of 75％ methanol extract of this drug was performed on a 30 ℃ thermostatic Dikma Spursil C18 column (4.6 mm ×250 mm,5 μm),with the mobile phase comprising of acetonitrile-water flowing at 1.0 mL/min in a gradient elution manner,and the detection wavelengths were set at 283 nm and 294 nm.RESULTS Six constituents showed good liner relationships within their own ranges (r≥0.999 3),whose average recoveries were 92.6％-103.7％ with the RSDs of 0.89％-2.87％.The contents of naringin and neohesperidin in three batches of samples showed obvious differences.CONCLUSION We should pay attention to the unstable quality of Liuhe Dingzhong Pills due to Aurantii Fructus.

Objective To explore the CT manifestations of pediatric mesenechymal hamartoma of liver (MHL).Methods Clinical data of 15 cases with MHL confirmed by surgery and pathology were retrospectively analyzed.All children were performed with CT scans including plain and enhanced scans,and the imaging features were analyzed.Results All the lesions were solitary,and 9 masses located at the right lobe of liver,4 located at the left lobe,the others located at both right and left lobe.The maximum diameter of lesions was from 5 cm to 30 cm,with an average of (11.52±6.84) cm.Ten cases were cystic and solid mixed,5 cases were solid.After contrast administration,the solid component and the septa of the masses showed enhancement while no enhancement was observed in the cystic component.Two cases had the spot-like calcification.Conclusion MHL has some special characteristics in the CT scan before surgery,which should be differentiated from other cystic and solid tumors of live.Some MHLs can be diagnosed when combined with the clinical information and CT images.

Objective To study the application value of serum umbilical cord blood bilirubin and hemolysis three test in the prediction of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia.Methods 1 200 cases of healthy newborn were selected,whose mothers were type O blood and fathers were not type O blood.According to the situation of maternal and infant blood type,they were divided into the same maternal and child blood type group with 539 cases and different blood type group with 661 cases;According to the umbilical cord blood bilirubin concentration range was divided into five groups,and analyzed umbilical cord blood bilirubin and hemolysis three test in the prediction of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia.Results (1) The concentrations of umbilical cord blood bilirubin,the incidence of ABO-HDN,the incidence of hyperbilirubinemia in the maternal-fetal blood(O-A/B) group were (38.1 ± 10.3) μmol/L,47.35％,26.02％,respectively,which were all significantly higher than (33.4 ± 7.9)μmol/L,15.21％,14.66％ in the maternal blood type (O-O) group (t =5.8,x2 =120.7,x2 =20.1,all P =0.000) ; (2) When the concentrations of umbilical cord blood bilirubin was higher,the incidence of hyperbilirubinemia was higher,but the sensitivity and the specificity both were bad; (3) According to the result of hemolysis three to predict the neonatal hyperbilirubinemia,when the concentrations of umbilical cord blood bilirubin was less than 21μmol/L or more than 55μmol/L,the positive predictive value and the specificity both were 100.00％,and the sensitivity was not low(75.00％ and 86.96％).Conclusion Detection of umbilical cord blood bilirubin and hemolysis three test in the maternal-fetal blood group incompatibility could predict early hyperbilirubinemia of newborn,which had certain clinically practical value.

Objective To investigate the association of thyroid carcinoma and urine iodine level in Urumqi region,intent to provide the evidence of individual iodine supplement of this region.Methods In this case-control study,there were 100 patients with thyroid carcinoma and 300 patients with normal thyroid function as the control group in Xinjiang Tumor Hospital between February 2012 and December 2012 as the case group.All the cases were detected for urine iodine concentration by arsenic-cerium catalytic spectrophotometry.Results The mean level of urinary iodine in the case group (272.69 μg/L) was higher than that in the control group (161.40 μg/L) (P ＜ 0.05).The level of iodine was excessive (urinary iodine ＞ 300 μg/L) in 34 ％ (34/100) patients in the case group and 10 ％ (30/300) patients in control group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The average urinary iodine content of the thyroid carcinoma in Urmuqi region are generally higher than that of the healthy control group,which indicates that the iodine nutritional status in patients with thyroid carcinoma are better than that in the general population.The relationship between thyroid carcinoma and excessive iodine intake should be necessary for further study.

Objective:To analyse the property of voltage-dependent potassium 〔K(v)〕 channel in healthy people′s peripheral lymphocyte so as to contribute the control for property alteration under some pathological condition,and to try to find the new subset of this channel.Methods:Patch-clamp whole cell recording technique was used.Results:In the recorded 39 cells,activated voltage of the channels was -40.3±2.5 Mv.No inactivation phenomenon appeared under repeated stimulation.The closing time of the channels was 116.3+8.2 ms under the repolarization,and the current could be inhibited by 10 mmol/L TEA.Conclusion:There might be only one type of K(v) channel in human peripheral blood lymphocytes,and its properties quite resumble the type of n K(v) channel in mice.

Objective To demonstrate high mobility group box chromosomal protein 1(HMGBI) expression in synovium and joint,and to identify the role of HMGB1 in the pathogenesis of synovitis and joint destruction in adjuvant-induced arthritis(AA).Methods AA of 15 male rats were induced in SD rats by intradermal injection of 100?l Freud's complete adjuvant in the foot pad of the left hind paw.All rats were killed at the 18th day.Synovium and joints were collected for histopathology studies and determining the expression of HMGB1 by immunohistochemistry,and serum was collected for determining the expression of HMGB1 by western blotting analysis.Results Immunostaining of specimens from normal rats showed that HMGB1 was primarily confined to the nucleus of synoviocytes with occasional cytoplasmic staining.In contrast, inflammatory synovial tissues from AA rats showed a distinctly different HMGB1 staining pattern.Nuclear HMGBI expression was accompanied by a cytoplasmic staining in many mononuclear cells.The cytoplasmic HMGB1 expression in synovium of AA rats is significantly higher than that of normal rats.Additionally,HMGBI was highly expressed in the nuclei and cytoplasm of the subchondral chondrocytes and inflammatory cells in bone erosion in AA rats(P＜0.01),while fewer positive cytoplasmic staining of HMGB1 was found in chondrocytes and fewer positive nuclear staining was found in bone cells in normal rats.HMGB1 concentration was significantly higher in serum of AA rats than that in normal rats(P＜0.001).Conclusion The cytoplasmic HMGBI expression in synovium and joints is greatly upregulated;the level of HMGB1 in serum is increased in AA rats which suggests a patbogenetic role of HMGB1 in synovitis and bone destruction of adjuvant-induced arthritis.

Objective To explore the effect of IFN-γ, IL-10 and IL-4 on B cell activating factor (BAFF) expression in human HL-60 cells, a kind of myeloid tumor cell lines, and its possible regulation mechanism. Methods Cultured human HL-60 cells were treated with IFN-γ, IL-10 and IL-4 for 1-3 days. The expression of membrane-bound BAFF on HL-60 cells was examined by flow cytometry, the amount of soluble BAFF was detected by ELISA assay, and the level of BAFF mRNA was tested by real-time PCR method. A functional 1021 bp fragment of the 5'-tlanking region of the human BAFF gene (-1349 to -329 bp) was cloned and investigated with serial 5'-deletion. The 5'-deleted promoters were recombinated with chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) as reporter gene. These five recombinant plasmids were transiently transfected to HL-60 cells with liposomal transfectian method. Promoters activities were determined by CAT reporter gene assay(CAT-ELISA) in those transfected cells treated with different cytokines. Results The results showed that the expression of membrane-bound BAFF, soluble BAFF and BAFF mRNA in human HL-60 cells were significantly elevated (P ＜ 0. 05) after incubated with IFN-γ and IL-10. In addition, IFN-γ and IL-10 showed significantly (P ＜ 0. 05) increased effects on promoter activity in human BAFF gane. And the cytokines-responsive sequences were located between -929 and -719 bp of the BAFF promoter region. Conclusion The enhancement of IFN-γ and IL-10 on BAFF expression and synthesis were regnla-ted by promoter activation. Our in vitro studies also raise the possibility to investigate the mechanisms regula-ting BAFF expression in other tumor cells of myeloid origin under pathological circumstances.
