Objective To observe clinical efficacy of probiotics agents in the prevention and treatment of severe pulmonary infection in elderly patients with antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD).Methods 60 cases of elderly patients with severe pulmonary infection (more than or equal to 60 years old) were randomly divided into the treatment group ( 31 cases ) and control group ( 29 cases ) , the control group received broad-spectrum antibiotics or using two linked above anti-infection treatment, the treatment group were added with probiotic agent ( lactobacillus complex capsules). The diarrhea, the use of antibiotics and the stool routine, bacteria before and after 5, 10, 15 days of group were observed. Results After 15 days treatment, the number of Escherichia coli in treatment group was lower than that in control group (P<0.05), the number of Bacterium lacticum and Bifidobacterium bifidum in treatment group were higher than those in control group ( P<0.05 ) .The AAD rate in treatment goup was 12.90%, which was lower than 41.38% in control group (P<0.05).There were significant differences in beginning time and duration of diarrhea between two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion The intestinal probiotics reduced induced by antibiotics in elderly patients with severe pulmonary infection , the probiotics agents could redress intestinal flora imbalance, keep the steady state of intestinal flora, and prevent and cure the antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

AIM: By Applying magnetic resonance spectroscopy(MRS) to distinguish delayed neuronal death and reactive glial proliferation in ipsilateral hippocampus of MCAO reperfusion rats.METHODS: Sixteen adult Wistar rats with MCA occlusion for 1 h then perfusion through remove the embolus were used in the experiment.10 pseudooperaton rats were served as control.MRS and pathologic examination were performed six weeks after operation. The hippocampus modality, cell density and immunohistochemical results with N-acetylaspartate,creatine and myo-inositol changes were compared.RESULTS: The values of NAA,Cr and NAA/Cr ratio of ipsilateral hippocampus lesion in MCAO reperfusion rats(2.05?0.33,2.42?0.41 and 0.86?0.10) were decreased distinctly than those in opposite side(3.45?0.58,3.10?0.93,1.18?0.32) and control group(3.42?0.43,3.57?0.47,0.98?0.14).MI value and mI/Cr ratio in ischemic hippocampus(1.47,1.30) were visible increased than those in control group(0.15,0.15).CONCLUSIONS: MRS is a perfect technique for observing the cellular metabolic changes in CA1 region.Decrease in NAA resulted from neuron delayed injury and increase in mI resulted from reactive astrocytes proliferation can be matched respectively. However, the decrease in NAA is not perfectly corresponded to the degree of neuron lost. This change has closed correlation with reactive astrocytes proliferation.

OBJECTIVETo explore the stability of seminal plasma miR-122-3p and miR-141-5p and their diagnostic value for idiopathic asthenospermia.
METHODSSeminal plasma miR-122-3p and miR-141-5p with various incubation time, freeze-thaw cycles and incubation time were analyzed. Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect the content of miR-122-3p and miR-141-5p, with U6 snRNA as the reference. The idiopathic asthenospermia group was further divided into grade I and II based on the progressive motility percent, and the content of miR-122-3p and miR-141-5p in the two grades were compared.
RESULTSNo difference was detected after incubation at room temperature and 4 degrees Celsius. But seminal plasma miR-122-3p and miR-141-5p have decreased along with the increase in freeze-thaw cycles increases. RT-PCR assayed showed that the miR-122-3p content in the idiopathic asthenospermia group was significantly lower than the control group, while miR-141-5p was significantly higher. The difference in both miR-122-3p and miR-141-5p content was statistically significant (P < 0.05). A significant difference in miR-122-3p and miR-141-5p content between a and b groups was also detected (P < 0.05). The AUC-ROC of miR-122-3p was 0.88. At the cutoff value of 1.02, the sensitivity and specificity was 83% and 84%, respectively. At the cutoff of 2.95, the AUC-ROC of miR-141-5p was 0.88. The sensitivity and specificity was 84% and 70%, respectively.
CONCLUSIONMiR-122-3p and miR-141-5p in seminal plasma are stable and have certain value for the diagnosis of idiopathic asthenospermia.

Objective:To investigate the prevalence of physical violence against children (PVAC)by parents and to explore possible related factors. Methods:In two primary schools in Liaoning Province,1164 parents of pupils in grade 1 to 6 were surveyed by a self-administered questionnaire anonymously to analyze situation about PVAC and related factors.PVAC was defined as having one or more following parent-to-child behaviors in the past three months:push,or shook a child;pinch, screw,or scratch a child;hit child's buttocks with hand;hit child's hand, foot, arm, leg or back with hand;hit child's buttocks with an object;hit child's face or head with hand;hit elsewhere (not buttocks)with an object;kicked a child with a foot or hit with a fist. Results:Of 1164 parents,53.1% reported that they had minor PVAC (51.0%)or/and severe PVAC (19.8%).Multivariate logistic regres-sion analysis indicated that following factors increased the risk of PVAC:child's male gender (OR =1.49),younger age of children (OR =1.38),poor school performance of children (OR =1.85 ),mother (OR =2.09),parents'childhood physical violence victimization experiences (OR =1.53),parents'supportive or tolerant attitudes towards corporal punishment (OR =3.15),parents'lower awareness of the harmfulness of physical violence against children (OR =2.31),and lower social economic status (OR =1.47).Conclusion:The PVAC by their parents may be com-mon in the present study.Parents'supportive or tolerant attitudes toward corporal punishment and low awareness of the harmfulness of physical violence is the main risk factors of PVAC.

Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), as a novel class of biopolymer, are attracting more attention due to their diverse material properties and environment-independent biodegradability. Here we report the preparation of PHA exhibiting efficient antibacterial activity by embedding Nisin, a food additive generally recognized as safe, into poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate) (PHBHHx), a type of PHA with high biocompatibility. We first prepared Nisin-containing PHBHHx films using solvent casting method. Confocal laser scanning microscopy analysis showed that a well-mixed integrated structure of the films with an even distribution of the Nisin particles in the PHBHHx matrices. Then the antimicrobial activity of PHBHHx/Nisin films against Micrococcus luteus was quantified on agar plate by measuring the size of inhibition zone. Cultivation in liquid media further confirmed the releasing of Nisin from the films and the long-time antibacterial activity. Results showed that the threshold of Nisin concentration for long-time and effective inhibition against bacteria growth is 25 μg/g. These results altogether establish a technological foundation for the application of PHA in biomedicine and food industry.
