Objective To investigate tile clinical significance of IL-13 gene expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cell(PBMC) and level of plasma IL-13 from patients with lupus nephritis(LN). Methods Ten healthy volunteers and 16 patients with LN were included in this study. All patients had been performed percutaneous renal biopsy and examined by light and immunofluorescence microscopy. The expression of IL-13 nRNA in PBMC was evaluated by RT-PCR. The level of plasma IL-13 was determined using an IL-13 specific ELISA. Results The expression of IL-13 mRNA in PBMC and the levels of Plasma IL-13 from patients with LN were significantly higher than those of the controls(l .99 ? 0.29 vs 0.68 ? 0. 15, P

Objective To study the relation of leptin,TNF-? in serum of patients with metabolic syndrome and its components. Methods Test leptin and TNF-? level of residents over 20 years old in two communities in Harbin City, grouping case-control study base on the constitutive ratio of actual age. Results Leptin was associated with obesity, and the higher leptin levels, the higher risk of suffering from metabolic syndrome. The relationship between leptin levels and metabolic syndrome was affected by age and gender. The lower level of TNF-?,the higher risk of metabolic syndrome. The patients with lower level of TNF-? were 1.859 times more likely to suffer from disease compared with people with higher level. Conclusion The effects of high level of leptin are significant on metabolic syndrome, especially for old males, and are associated with obesity component.TNF-? is related to plasma glucose and blood presure, and is good for metabolic syndrome, but its biological mechenism should be researched continuously.

Respiratory depression is a common adverse effect of opioids .Currently, the mechanisms and manage-ment of opioid-induced respiratory depression ( OIRD) are one of the research foci .OIRD arises from stimulation ofμ-opioid receptors in the pre-Botzinger complex and the Kolliker-Fuse neurons .Adenylyl cyclase , calcium chan-nels, and G-protein-gated inwardly rectifying potassium (GIRK) channels may be the key cellular signaling mecha-nisms of OIRD .

Objective To study the relationship between abnormal blood pressure distribution characteristics and the influencing factors for the prevention of hypertension and low blood pressure to provide reference. Methods Regarding the Guangzhou City adult group as the research object,we analyzed the distribution of the adults abnormal blood pressure in age, gender , urban and rural areas, as well as of occupations. Results The detection rate of blood pressure abnormalities was 15.9 % , which accounted for 12.4% of hypertension, 3.5% of hypotension. On the whole, the detection rate of hypertension was 18% in rural, higher than 9.8% in urban. The detection rate of hypotension in rural areas was 2.3% , 4.0% in urban. The detection rate of hypertension of men was high than that of women, and the detection rate of hypertension gradually increased by the age increased. At the same time, hypertension and hypotension was significantly affected with the factors of education, urban and rural areas, obesity and so on. Conclusion The detection rate of hypertension is high in rural areas than that in urban, and men than women, and the detection rate of low blood pressure is on the opposite. Both of them is significantly affected by the factors of education, urban and rural areas, obesity and so on.

AIM To study the effects of parathyroid hormone(PTH) on intracellular calcium concentration([Ca 2+ ] i), hypertrophy and apoptosis in rat cardiomyocytes. METHODS Neonatal rat cardiomyocyte hypertrophic response was assayed by measuring cell surface area and protein content. [Ca 2+ ] i was measured by confocal microscope using Fluo 3/AM as fluorescent indicator.Apoptosis was determined by flow cytometer and electron microscope. RESULTS After 7 d exposure to PTH 1~34 of 0 01 and 0 1 ?mol?L -1 ,[Ca 2+ ] i,surface area and protein content, and apoptosis rate(APO) of cardiomyocytes were significantly increased, especially in high concentration groups. While application of both nifedipine and PTH 1~34 significantly decreased lose indicators, they were still markedly higher than normal. CONCLUSIONS PTH 1~34 dose dependently induces hypertrophy and apoptosis of cardiomyocyte, and this is attributed able to augmented entry of calcium into cell via voltage dependent Ca 2+ channel.

Objective To assay the early quality of life and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and relating influential factors in patients with severe blunt chest trauma (sBCT).Methods Demographic and clinical data of sBCT patients treated between January 2011 and December 2011 were collected.Early quality of life and PTSD symptom level at posttraumatic months 1,3,and 6 were analyzed by using short form 36 health survey (SF-36) and impact of event scale-revised (IES-R) respectively.Furthermore, logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the risk factors associated with quality of life of the patients. Results A total of 107 patients were included in the study.Ultimately,83 patients were available to the 6-month follow-up.A low score for SF-36 remained at posttraumatic 6 months and one-third of the 83 patients sustained mild or severe PTSD symptoms.Major influential factors to posttraumatic quality of life included age,ISS ≥ 20,combined craniocerebral injury, combined spinal and pelvic injuries, posttraumatic complications, and PTSD.Conclusions Early quality of life in sBCT patients is poor. Therefore, the early intervention with identification of specific risk factors is contributive to better quality of life.

Objective To evaluate the performance of surgical approaches in the treatment of linear scleroderma of the head and face. Methods Forty-three patients with stable linear scleroderma of the head and face were included in this study. Surgical approaches, which included direct suture, skin flap translocation, soft-tissue augmentation and filling operation with dermal tissues, were selected and utilized alone or in combination according to the size, location and degree of atrophy and depression of lesions. Results After surgical treatment, wound dehiscence developed in one of these patients, but the wound healed after two sessions of suture. During one year of follow up, all the patients achieved favorite color, feeling and blood supply in the filling areas as well as good facial profile and visual appearance with no obvious convexity and concavity. Skin flaps matched well with surrounding tissues, incision lines were inconspicuous, and hairline looked naturally with well-distributed hairs in these patients after treatment. Patients were satisfied with treatment results. Conclusion Satisfied cosmetic outcomes can be achieved by using surgical approaches in patients with stable linear scleroderma of the head and face.

Objective: To study the relation between hyperglycemia and mechanical ventilatory time, the days in the intensive care unit, infection rate, mortality . Methods: 572 patients' blood glucose levels in the morning were measured, and divided into two groups by the level of 7.78 mmol/L.The mechanical ventilatory time, days in the intensive care unit, infection rate and mortality were compared between two groups. Results: The mechanical time, stay in ICU and infection rate in the group with blood glucose level below 7.78 mmol/L were significantly less than in the group with blood glucose level above 7.78 mmol/L(P

Objective To detect the effects and mechanisms of CD147 in thyroid cancer cell SW579. Methods RT-PCR and Western-blot were used to determine the levels of CD147 mRNA and protein in SW579 cells after treated with CD147 specific small interference RNA (siRNA). The proliferative ratio of SW579 cells after treated with CD147 siRNA was detected by CCK-8 assay. We detected the changes of cellular mobility after treated with CD147 siRNA by transwell assay. Mobility related proteins were analyzed by western-blot. Results The proliferative ratio and the mobility of SW579 cells were inhibited significantly by down-regulation of CD147. The levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were lower in treated cells than untreated ones. Expression of Wave 2 and a mobility related protein were decreased in accompany with down-regulation of CD147. Conclusion Down-regulation of CD147 inhibits mobility of SW579 by suppressing MMP-2, MMP-9 and WAVE 2.
