1.Preparation and Content Determination of Cholecalciferol Microcapsules

OBJECTIVE:To prepare cholecalciferol(VitD3)microcapsules and establish a method for their quantitative determination.METHODS:Microcapsules were prepared by complex coacervation method and VitD3 content was determined by HPLC.RESULTS:The prepared microcapsules had well-distributed particle size with average particle size of(103.9?26.2)?m and encapsulation efficiency of(90.8?2.68)%.The linear range of VitD3 was 0.1~1.0 ?g?mL-1(r=0.999 3)with mean recovery rate of 98.65% and a dissolution rate of above 75% at 45 min.CONCLUSION:VitD3 microcapsules was successfully prepared by the established method,and the established content determination method was proved to be simple and feasible.
2.Analysis of inferior turbinate in patients with deviated nasal septum by using computed tomography

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the relationship between the degree of nasal septum deviation and inferior turbinate hypertrophy with the CT. METHODS The paranasal sinus CTs of 98 cases with septum deviation were evaluated. Inferior turbinate on the deviated side of the nasal septum was considered as the control group and the inferior turbinate on the other side was taken as the study group in the same patient. The septal deviation angle, thickness of the bone, medial mucosa and lateral mucosa of the inferior turbinate were measured. RESULTS The thickness of the bone, medial mucosa and lateral mucosa of the inferior turbinate were statistically different between the study group and the control group(P<0.05). There were statistically differences between the medial and lateral mucosal thickness in study group(P<0.05). There was no positive correlation between the deviation angle and the thickness bone, medial and lateral mucosa of the inferior turbinate in the study group(P>0.05), but the value of correlation coefficents revealed the inferior turbinate bone correlated with the deviation angle most, followed by medial and lateral mucosal thickness. CONCLUSION The hypertrophy of inferior turbinate in patients with nasal septum deviation is not only caused by mucosal hypertrophy, but also by hypertrophy of the inferior turbinate bone. The preoperative CT before septoplasty can be helpful to choose the surgical methods during the operation.

What's more, this paper also describes the construction, principles and characteristics of all kinds of sputum aspirators in HBO chamber. When critical patients are treated in HBO chamber, it is very important to select reasonable sputum aspirators.

5.Hyperbaric oxygen therapy in diabetic foot

Recently, the incidence of both diabetes mellitus and diabetic foot has been increasing.Ischemia, neuropathy, and infection are major causes of diabetic foot ulcer. In addition to other conventional treatments, hyperbaric oxygen is an effective adjunctive therapy with less side-effects. Hyperbaric oxygen may play a role through different mechanisms in improving the prognosis of diabetic foot.

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is endangering human health seriously now. We had reviewed some typical animal model which had at least one OSAS character of intermittent hypoxia and/or hypercapnia, upper airway obstruction and sleep structure disorder. However, all of these models could not simulate clinical and pathological features of OSAS completely. Establishing a suitable animal model to study OSAS and related diseases is very important.

7.Comparison of apparatus of inspired oxygen in hyperbaric oxygen chamber

Objective To discuss the apparatus of inspired oxygen in hyperbaric oxygen(HBO)chamber for patients after tracheotomy.Methods Many kinds of apparatus of inspired oxygen were analyzed,including composition,usage and characteristics.Results The apparatus of inspired oxygen play an active role in treating patients.But in the above apparatus,there are great differences in serving range,efficiency of inspired oxygen,curative effect,reliability and so on.Conclusions When serious patients after tracheotomy are treated in HBO chamber earlier,it is very important to select reasonable apparatus.
8.Measurement of transforming growth factor beta 1 mRNA expression in renal cortex of diabetic rats using real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction with SYBR Green I

Expression levels of TGF-β1 mRNA in renal cortex of control group, diabetic group and taurine group measured by real-time quantitative RT-PCR were (7.0±0.8)×10 -3, (64.4±8.0)×10 -3 and (16.7±2.0)×10 -3, respectively. The corresponding results with end-point RT-PCR method were 0.28±0.12,0.58±0.16 and 0.43±0.10, respectively. Compared with end-point RT-PCR method, real-time quantitative with SYBR Green I was easier, faster, sensitive and specific.
9.Investigation of application and administration of hyperbaric oxygen chambers in Beijing

Objective To investigate the application and administration of hyperbaric oxygen chambers in Beijing.Methods Forty-eight hospitals with hyperbaric oxygen chambers in Beijing were investigated by field investigation,letter investigation or telephone investigation.The investigation includes grades of hospital,personnel,equipment,therapy of severe cases,time of therapy and treatment plans in questionnaire.Results Hyperbaric oxygen was popular in Beijing,which ensured emergency treatments.But the scale was little relatively and the number of full-time technicians was less,besides,the therapeutic system and plans were diversified,which should be standardized.Conclusions Something must be done to improve the conditions of hyperbaric oxygen medicine in Beijing,such as cultivating personnel,standardizing therapeutic system,standardizing treatment plans,realizing computer control and so on.
10.Effect of sevoflurane postconditioning on expression of CHOP in a rat model of hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation

Objective To evaluate the effect of sevoflurane postconditioning on the expression of CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein homologous protein (CHOP) in a rat model of hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation.Methods Thirty-six healthy adult male Sprague-Dawley rats,weighing 300-350 g,were divided into 3 groups (n=12 each) using a random number table:sham operation group (group S),hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation group (group HSR) and sevoflurane postconditioning group (group SP).Hemorrhagic shock was induced by withdrawing 40% of the total blood volume from the right carotid artery over an interval of 30 min,and 1 h later the removed blood was reinfused via the left jugular vein for resuscitation.Group SP inhaled 2.4% sevoflurane for 30 min starting from the onset of reinfusion.Mean arterial pressure was monitored and recorded at a 10 min interval.Before withdrawing blood (T0),immediately after the end of withdrawing blood(T1), at 1 h after the end of withdrawing blood(T2) and immediately after the end of reinfusion (T3),blood samples were collected from the common carotid artery for blood gas analysis.At 4 days after reinfusion,6 rats of each group were selected to detect spatial learning and memory ability by using Morris water maze test.The animals were then sacrificed,brains were removed for determination of neuronal apoptosis in hippocampal CA1 area using TUNEL.The rest 6 rats in each group were sacrificed at 72 h after reinfusion,and the hippocampus was isolated to detect the expression of CHOP by Western blot.Results Compared with group S,mean arterial pressure was significantly decreased,and lactic acid concentrations were increased at T1,2 in HSR and SP groups,and the escape latency was significantly prolonged,the percentage of time staying at the target quadrant was decreased,the number of apoptotic neurons in hippocampal CA1 area was increased,and the expression of CHOP was up-regulated in group HSR (P<0.05).Compared with group HSR,the escape latency was significantly shortened,the percentage of time staying at the target quadrant was increased,the number of apoptotic neurons in hippocampal CA1 area was decreased,and the expression of CHOP was down-regulated in group SP (P<0.05).Conclusion The mechanism by which sevoflurane postconditioning improves cognitive function is related to down-regulation of CHOP expression and inhibition of apoptosis in hippocampal neurons in a rat model of hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation.
