Objective To evaluate the feasibility, safety and effectiveness of interventional occlusion with thin waist occluder for perimembranous ventricular septal defect with pseudoaneurysm. Methods During the period from March 2008 to March 2013 at Shanghai Yodak Cardiothoracic Hospital , interventional occlusion with thin waist occluder was carried out in a total of 96 patients with perimembranous ventricular septal defect (VSD) complicated by pseudoaneurysm. The patient’s age varied from 2 years to 36 years. Before the procedure, routine left ventricular angiography and ascending aortic angiography were carried out. Left ventricular angiography and ascending aortic angiography as well as the transthoracic ultrasonography were performed immediately after the procedure to observe the therapeutic results. Follow-up checkups with transthoracic ultrasonography, EKG and chest X-ray film were conducted at one week as well as at one, 3, 6 and 9 months after the surgery were conducted. Results Successful occlusion of VSD was obtained in 93 patients, with a success rate of 96.8% (93/96). After the surgery, small amount of shunt flow was detected in 8 patients, which disappeared within 48 hours in 7 patients, and in the other one the shunt flow disappeared one month later which was confirmed by follow-up examination. After the treatment, complete right bundle branch block occurred in 4 patients, complete left bundle branch block in 5 patients, and transientⅢdegree atrioventricular block in one patient. The conduction block disappeared at the time of discharge in all patients. The left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) decreased from preoperative (47.5 ± 5.2) mm to postoperative (45.2 ± 5.1) mm, the difference was statistically significant (t = 18.33, P < 0.01). During the follow-up period lasting for 9 months, no delayed cardiac arrhythmia, valve damage or sudden death occurred. Conclusion For the treatment of perimembranous ventricular septal defect with pseudoaneurysm, interventional occlusion with thin waist occluder is safe and effective with excellent mid-term effect. Based on the imaging findings, including the location, shape, ruptured orifice, number of the perimembranous pseudoaneurysm as well as the distance between the pseudoaneurysm and the aortic valve, to select suitable occluder and proper occlusion site is the key to ensure a successful surgery.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2015;29(4):291-294
OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate auditory developments and the effectiveness of children with congenital bilateral aural atresia after using softband Ponto and to compare them with children with normal hearing.
METHOD:
Twenty patients (age ranging from 3 months to 21 months ) with bilateral aural atresia were studied. The air and bone auditory thresholds were assessed by auditory brain stem response (ABR). The infant-todder meaning auditory integration scale (IT-MAIS) was used to evaluate the auditory development at three time levels: baseline, 3 months and 6 months.
RESULT:
The average unaided bone conduction hearing thresholds of patients is (17.5 ± 5.9)dB nHL,and the average air conduction hearing thresholds is (72.5 ± 9.3)dB nHL. The average VRA hearing thresholds of 5 patients is (30.5 ± 5.9) dB HL. The IT-MAIS total, detection and perception scores are improved specifically after wearing softband Ponto and approaching the normal level.
CONCLUSION
Softband Ponto is suitable for infants with bilateral atresia. Results from these auditory development testing are encouraging. Softband Ponto should be used as a bridge for surgical implantations when temporal bone is thick enough.

Chinese Journal of Gastroenterology 2016;21(12):742-744
Background:Ulcerative colitis(UC)is often accompanied by a variety of extraintestinal manifestations. Recently, the role of extraintestinal manifestations in diagnosis and treatment of UC has aroused widespread concern in clinical practice. Aims:To study the extraintestinal manifestations of patients with UC in order to elevate diagnosis level of UC. Methods:A total of 208 inpatients from June 2008 to September 2011 at Beijing Military General Hospital were enrolled. The extraintestinal manifestations of UC were retrospectively analyzed. Results:The ratio of male to female was 1. 14: 1, mean age was(41. 17 ± 13. 57)years,mean disease duration was(62. 6 ± 79. 4)months. Thirty-three patients had proctitis,52 had left-sided colitis, and 123 had extensive colitis. Forty-nine patients were mild UC,80 were moderate UC, and 79 were severe UC. The incidence of extraintestinal manifestations was 28. 8%(60 / 208);13 patients(6. 3% )had more than one extraintestinal manifestation. The main extraintestinal manifestations were oral ulcer(13. 0% ),arthropathy (11. 1% ),hepatobiliary disease( 3. 8% ) and skin lesion( 1. 4% ). The trend of incidence of extraintestinal manifestations increased from patients with proctitis,left-sided colitis to extensive colitis(21. 2% ,28. 8% ,30. 9% , respectively),however, the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0. 05). No significant difference in incidence of extraintestinal manifestations in patients with mild UC,moderate UC and severe UC was found(22. 4% ,33. 8% ,27. 8% , respectively)(P > 0. 05). Conclusions:Patients with UC are often accompanied by extraintestinal manifestations, and the recognition of extraintestinal manifestations is helpful for improving diagnosis and treatment level of UC.

BACKGROUND: Based on a mouse model of tibial implantation, some scholars have found that the CaP-coated implant with recombinant human parathyroid hormone (1-34) (PTH(1-34)) shows strong osteogenesis effect at early stage, but this coating has not been applied in the oral environment.OBJECTIVE: To explore the role of local application of PTH(1-34) on immediate implant osseointegration . METHODS: Nine New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into two groups (six in experimental group and three in control group). All of the tooth sockets were filled with heterogeneous freeze-dried bone firstly after four incisors of each rabbit were extracted. In the experimental group, a titanium screw with PTH(1-34) loaded CaP coating was implanted into each tooth socket, while in the control group, a titanium screw with only CaP coating was implanted. The animals were executed respectively at 4, 8, 12 weeks after operation, and the intact maxillary and mandibular specimens were harvested and tested by gross observation, bone density analysis, torque test, histologic al observation, X-ray observation.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The gray value and maximum torque value of regenerated osseous tissue at different time points in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). Within 4-12 weeks after implantation, regenerated and mature bone tissue appeared earlier in the experimental group than the control group. A large amount of new blood vessels were seen in the experimental group at 8 weeks after implantation, while in the control group, there were only few new blood vessels. To conclude, the local application of PTH(1-34) can promote bone formation, improve the implant-bone bonding strength, and enhance the stability of the implant.

Objective To investigate four methods for establishing animal models of human breast cancer bone metastasis. Methods Thirty-two female nude mice aged 4-6 weeks were divided randomly into four groups (n=8 in each group). 5×105 MDA-MB-231 cells were injected into the body via the left second mammary fat pads (group A), the tail veins (group B), the left heart ventricles (group C) and the left tibia marrow cavities (group D), respectively. Tumor formations in situ were recorded in group A. Deaths after the injection were recorded. The surviving nude mice 49 days after the injection were subjected to pathological examination to determine bone metastasis. Results The rate of tumor formation in situ of group A was87.5 %(7/8). One mouse in group C died after the injection of MDA-MB-231 cells. The bone metastasis rate in groups A, B, C and D was zero (0/8), 12.5 % (1/8), 71.4 % (5/7) and 100 % (8/8), respectively. There was statistically significant difference in the bone metastasis rate between group A and group C, group A and group D, group B and group C; and group B and group D. Conclusion Injections of tumor cells via the breast fat pads and tail veins were not suitablemethods to establish animal models of human breast cancer bone metastasis. The bone metastasis model could be established efficiently by injecting tumor cells into the left heart ventricles or the bone marrow cavity of nude mice.
