Objective To verify the effect of English newspaper reading teaching on improving students' writing ability. Methods Forty students in Binzhou Medical College choosing English news-paper reading as elective course were enrolled as experimental group while 40 students not choosing English newspaper reading as elective course were enrolled as control group. English newspaper read-ing was introduced into the selective course and www.pigai.org was employed to do online real-time composition writing. Differences in pre-test (before online real-time composition writing)and post-test (after online real-time composition writing) scores were compared by paired t test and P<0.05 was considered statistically different. Results There were statistical differences between pre-test and post-test scores in experimental group (t=-17.590,P =0.000). There was no statistical difference between pre-test and post-test scores in control group (t=1.347,P=0.186). There were statistical differences in accuracy,complexity,fluency and coherence of the composition between pre-test and post-test in ex-perimental group. Conclusions English newspaper reading teaching plays an important part in im-proving medical college students' writing ability. After a semester of English newspaper reading, the writing ability of students had obviously improved in language accuracy,complexity,fluency and co-herence.

This study is to verify the effect of content-based instruction (CBI) teaching mode in English course by introducing it into medical English course in medical universities.Results showed that integration of language learning and academic content learning not only strengthened participants'professional English but also improved their overall English levels.CBI teaching mode can improve academic language skills of medical professionals effectively,boost the development of foreign language skills and professional abilities and meet the needs of medical students' further study and employment.

Objective To verify the effect of English newspaper reading instruction on promoting the development of English teachers.Methods Differences of the two experimental group teachers' teaching effects were evaluated by Teaching Steering Group scoring method,and the statistics was treated by paired t test;questionnaires aimed at finding out thereason for the improvement of teachers' teaching effect,and how English newspaper reading instruction promotes teachers' professional development.Results The differences of the experimental group teachers' teaching evaluation Pre and Post scores were significant in Tracing academic frontier and Knowledge update,Focus on the cultivation of humanistic spirit,Teacher-student interaction,Teaching according to learners' aptitudes,Students' satisfaction,Emphasis on ability cultivation (P=0.000);questionnaire survey results showed that the participants' approval rates of English newspaper reading instruction were more than 90％ in the four aspects:helping teachers learn a way to improve the relationship between teachers and students,updating professional knowledge,changing the original fixed mode of teaching method,and broadening teachers' horizons.Conclusion English newspaper reading instruction can broaden English teachers' horizons,make their knowledge keep pace with the times,enhance teacher-student relationship,improve teaching methods,attract teachers' attention to cultivate students' humanistic and scientific spirit,and enable teachers to use professional vocabulary at the right time.

AIM: To understand the effects of benazepril in treating the diastolic function of the left ventricular in patients with hypertention and coronary heart diseases(CHD).　METHODS: Forty-five hypertension patients with the left ventricular diastolic dysfunction(LVDD) received benazepril 10-20 mg, po,qd, for 5 mo. On the basis of receiving nitrates 36 CHD patients with LVDD added to receive benazepril 5 mg, po, qd, for 5 mo. Before and after the therapy, the utmost speed of the peak value at the left ventricular early diastole stage (E peak), the utmost speed of the peak value at the left ventricular late diastolic stage (A peak), the E/A ratio and peak filling rate (PFR) were determined by color Doppler echocardiography. 　RESULTS: After the therapy, the E peak, the E/A ratio and PFR were up higher than before the therapy, meanwhile the A peak dropped lower, there were significant difference respectively (P<0.01). 　CONCLUSION: The LVDD can be improved distinctly if the patients with hypertension and CHD take benazepril for 5 mo or so.

The changes of retinal nuclear DNA content in rats after death was detected and the relationship between degradation of retinal nuclear DNA and postmortem interval (PMI) was analyzed. Ninety healthy adult SD rats, female, weighing 250+/-10 g, were randomly divided into 15 groups. At 20 degrees C, the retinal cells were withdrawn every 2 h within 0 to 28 h after death and stained with Feulgen-Vans. Index of density (ID), integral absorbance (IA) and average absorbance (AA) in retinal nucleus were analyzed by image analysis system. And the obtained data were subjected to linear regression analysis by using SPSS12.0 software. The results showed that in retinal nucleus, AA and IA were gradually declined with the prolongation of PMI, while ID had an increased tendency. Within 28 h after PMI, the regression equations were as follows: Y(AA )=-0.009X(AA )+0.590 (R(2)=0.949), Y(IA )=-0.097X(IA )+18.903 (R(2)=0.968), Y(ID)=0.122X(ID)+2.246 (R(2)=0.951). It was concluded that retinal nuclear DNA after death in rats was degraded gradually and had a good correlation with PMI.

To study the relationship between the position and the severity of injury and the rate of disbility in the road traffic accidents(RTA).3547 RTA cases occurred in the downtown area in Wuhan from 1997 to 1999 year were investigated and analyzed.1792(50 52%)cases with disability were assessed.The rates of disability caused by the peripheral nerve and ear injury were the highest,90 00% and 83 30%,respectively,while those caused by the soft tissue injury was the lowest.The rates of IX X and I V grade disablility were 78 74%,4 41%,respectively.Our study suggests that the rate of disability evaluation is not coincident with the position of injury.The degree of disability might be influenced directly by treatment.Degree of IX X grade of disability were the commonest,while the I V grade of disability was the least.Grade I disability was only seen in injury of brain and spinal cord.

Objective Review the epidemiology, injuries and assessments for body impairment on the injured children and teenagers in road traffic accidents (RTAs). Methods The data of 256 cases of assessment for body impairment of the injured children and teenagers in RATs was studied retro spectively. Results Boys were injured more than girls, mainly 6-18 years of age. RATs occurred mostly in 10-12a.m and 4-6p.m. The types of vehicles were mostly car and wagon. The commonest accidents were injury of pedestrians. The sites of injures were mainly head and extremities, the commonest injures were fracture, contusion and wound, the degree of internal organ injuries was relatively slight, the fracture of lower extremities was far more often than the upper extremities. Most of the injuries were assessed to be of medial injury. In most of the cases the rate of disability was evaluated to be lighe (33.2%), in which Ⅸ , Ⅹ grade were the commonest. Conclusion The criterion of assessment for body impairment of the injured in RTAs should be broadened properly, some special items for children and teenagers should be added.
