1.ENDOCRINE-PARACRINE CELLS IN THE SEMINAL VESICLES OF THE GUINEA PIG

Endocrine-paracrine (EP) cells, also known as APUD or neuroendocrine cells, have been known to exist in the mammalian genito-urinary system. A fairly common localization is in the prostate and urethra. In this study we demonstrated for the first time the presence of small number of EP cells in the dissociated epithelial cells of the seminal vesicles of the guinea pig. The EP cells exhibited yellow FIF, while a few green or yellow-green FIF cells can be observed after L-dopa treatment. They were stained positive by the Masson-Fontana's method but consistently negative with the Grimelius silver methods indicating that they were of argentaffin nature or other paracrine cells.
2.Clinical analysis on 36 cases of sub-acute infective endocarditis

Objective To study the basic pathogenic cause,clinical characteristics,treatment methods and prognosis of sub-acute infective endocarditis (IE) ,and to improve the diagnosis and treatment against it Methods The basic cardiac disease,clinical characteristics,pathogenic bacteria,ultrasound cardiogram, therapy and prognosis of 36 cases of sub-acute IE was retrospectively analyzed. Results Compared to previous reports, the proportion of rheumatic cardiac disease was a little lower, whereas the proportion of congenital cardiac disease and not-recorded cardiac diseases were a little higher.The main clinical characteristics showed as fever, heart failure, increasing in number of neutrophile granulocyte,blood sedimentation and anemia, The positive rate of blood culture was 58. 33% with the most common pathogenic bacterium of streptococcus viridans. Endocardial vegetation has been diagnosed in 63. 89% of patients through-thoracic echo-cardiography. The short-term fatality rate was 19. 44% . Conclusions There have been significant changes in the basic pathogenic causes,clinical characteristics and pathogenic bacteria of sub-acute IE as compared to the previous reports. The fatality rate remains high even after active treatment. Early surgical operation is recommended to those suitable patients.
3.Value of color doppler ultrasonography on antidiastole of thyroid adeno-ma and nodular goiter

Objective To discuss value of color Doppler ultrasonography on antidiastole of thyroid adenoma and nodu-lar goiter. Methods A total of 80 cases of patients, who were given the medical treatment and pathologically diagnosed to have thyroid disease after operation in our hospital from June 2012 to June 2014 were selected, and were divided into antidiastole of thyroid adenoma group and nodular goiter group in accordance with pathologic results, with 40 cases of patients in each group. The patients in two groups were given color Doppler ultrasonography examination before medical treatment, and the size, shape, echo, relation with surrounding tissue and blood signal of thyroid diseases of pa-tients in two groups were observed, and the relation between index and disease were compared. Results The lesion of patients in antidiastole of thyroid adenoma group was mainly solitary, multiple occasionally, whose internal echo was mainly parenchymal, lesion edge and surrounding tissue had clear demarcation, and the envelope and acoustic halo was frequently seen, as well as the rich blood flow signals in surrounding and inner lesions. The lesion of patients in nodu-lar goiter group was mainly multiple, whose internal echo was mainly mixed, lesion edge and surrounding tissue had blurring demarcation, generally without envelope and acoustic halo. After comparing the lesion amount, internal echo, edge, envelope, acoustic halo and etc of patients in two groups, statistical differences appeared (χ2=8.72, 4.07,5.70,14.46,33.88,P<0.05 or P<0.01﹚. The patients in antidiastole of thyroid adenoma group [29 cases (72.5%﹚and 24 cases(60.0%﹚] had more rich cases of blood flow signals in surrounding and inner lesions than those in nodular goiter group[12 cases (30.0%﹚and 13 cases (32.5%﹚] (χ2=14.46、6.08,P<0.05 or P<0.01﹚. Conclusion Color Doppler ultrasonography plays an important value on the antidiastole of thyroid adenoma and nodular goiter, which provides sig-nificant basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
