Thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy(TAO)is an organ-specific autoimmune disease. A series of symptoms related to it cause serious harm to the physical and mental health of patients, and then seriously affect their quality of life. However, there is stilly lack of specific treatment methods at present. Even after effective treatment, it is difficult to fully recover the appearance changes. Therefore, it is very important to avoid or reduce the risk factors associated with the occurrence and progress of TAO. Hypercholesterolemia, as one of the potential risk factors for the occurrence and progression of TAO, has been concerned by more clinical researchers. Recent studies have found that statins can significantly reduce the incidence of ophthalmopathy and the risk of ophthalmopathy progression in patients with Graves disease. Based on the inflammatory pathological mechanism of TAO, statins may become a new hope to prevent and delay the occurrence and progression of TAO.

Objective To explore the health guidance role on treating uterine fibroids in high intensity fo-cused ultrasound thermal ablation(HIFU).Methods High intensity focused ultrasound ablation treatment was used in 74 cases of uterine fibroids patients before and after treatment to enable patients to better health guidance with treatment.Results After treatment,symptoms of patients with the clinical manifestation including menstrual too much,dysmenorrhea,frequent urination,constipation and anemia,were significantly improved.The volume of myoma of uterus before treatment and after treatment for 3 months,6 months and 1 year were (100.780 ±104.243 )cm3 , (53.446 ±49.546)cm3,(32.704 ±32.246)cm3 and (21.991 ±16.301)cm3,respectively.The volume of myoma of uterus gradually reduced after treatment as compared with that before treatment,the difference had statistical signifi-cance(t=6.758,186,7.567,all P<0.01).Conclusion Effective health guidance is beneficial to HIFU treatment for patient.

Objective To investigate the role of renin angiotensin system (RAS) in pathogenesis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).Methods Twenty-four Wistar rats were evenly divided into control group and model group.The rats of control group were fed with normal diet,and model group were with high-fat diet.Rats were killed at the eighth week and serum liver function,blood lipid,glucose and insulin were tested.The liver tissues were stained with HE and Picro acid-Sirius red for pathological observation.The liver tissue concentration of angiotensin Ⅱ was determined by ELISA method and the expression of TGF-β1 in liver tissue was examined by immunohistochemistry.Results After eight weeks high fat feeding,weight,liver index,liver function,blood lipids and serum insulin of model group were significantly higher than those of control group (weight:(463.50±22.72) g vs.(404.29±10.32) g; liver index:(3.75±0.21) g vs.(2.66±0.15) g; ALT:(79.8±8.6) U/L vs.(58.8±11.6) U/L; AST:(200.01±51.72) U/L vs.(150.30±37.27) U/L; total cholesterol:(3.67±0.48) mmol/L vs.(1.50±0.23) mmol/L; triglycerides:(2.06±0.40) mmol/L vs.(0.71±0.34) mmol/L; insulin:(17.37±2.89) pmol/L vs.(11.08±2.12) pmol/L),and all the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.01).The histopathological results of model group indicated liver steatosis,inflammatory reaction in part of lobule and portal area and significant fibrosis in part of liver tissue.The liver tissue angiotonin Ⅱ concentration of model group [(32.80 ± 2.81)pg/ml] was higher than that of control group [(22.83 ± 1.75) pg/ml,t =9.559,P＜0.01].The immunohistochemistry results showed that the expression of TGF-β1 of model group was obviously higher than that of control group (Z=-2.540,P =0.011 ).Spearman correlation analysis revealed that the increasing degree of angiotensin Ⅱ concentration was positively correlated with liver steatosis scores (r=0.644,P=0.002) and the expression of TGF-β1 (r=0.470,P=0.037).Conclusion The concentration of angiotensin Ⅱ and TGF-β1 increased in the livers of model rats,which indicated that RAS may participate in the pathogenesis and progress of NAFLD.

Objective To investigate the relationship of gene transfection efficiency with different ultrasound exposure time and different dose of microhuhble,and to find the appropriate ultrasound parameters for gene transfection. Methods Plasmid encoding enhanced green fluorescent protein(pEGFP) was chosen as a report gene and HepG2 cells were chosen as research object. The HepG2 cells plus pEGFP and different dose of microbubble were exposed to ultrasound(1 MHz,0.5 W/cm2) with varying time. Twenty-four hours later, the expression of EGFP in the cells was observed by fluorescence microscope,the transfection efficiency was assessed by FACS and the cell viability was observed by trypan blue exclusion. Results The expression of EGFP in all experimental groups was different,and the approving transfection efficiency was got by ultrasound exposed for 20 s when the dose of microbubble was 60 μl. Conclusions With fixed ultrasound frequency and power, different transfection efficiency was got when the exposure time and dose of microbubble were different. The appropriate parameter was 20 s,60 μl, which can supply information for further study.

To investigate the relationship between sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and metabolic syndrome in elderly males in Shanghai,all the subjects (≥ 60 years old,male) underwent measurements of weight,height,waist and hip circumferences,and blood pressures,serum levels of fasting plasma glucose,total cholesterol,triglyceride,high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C),and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol were determined (Hitachi,7600),while the levels of serum insulin,total testosterone,and SHBG were determined by using chemiluminescence methods.Free testosterone was calculated by using the Vermeulen equation.Metabolic syndrome was defined according to the criteria of the Chinese Diabetes Society (CDS 2004).The SHBG level in the metabolic syndrome group was significantly lower than that in non-metabolic syndrome group [(40.50 ± 26.16) nmol/L vs (47.80± 20.34) nmol/L,P＜0.01].With increasing number of metabolic syndrome components,the level of SHBG became lowered progressively.The subjects were divided into four subgroups according to SHBG Quartiles.From Quartile 1 to Quartile 4,body mass index,waist-hip ratio,diastolic blood pressure,fasting plasma glucose,triglyceride,fasting insulin,homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance(HOMA-IR),free testosterone,free androgen index,and free testosterone percentage became progressively lowered,while age and HDL-C became raised (P＜0.05).SHBG was correlated significantly with age,body mass index,waist-hip ratio,diastolic blood pressure,fasting plasma glucose,HDL-C,and triglyceride.Age,HDL-C,and body mass index remained independently associated with SHBG in the multivariate regression analysis.In a logistic regression taking metabolic syndrome as the dependent variable,SHBG and HOMA-IR were included in the final model with statistical significance.Lowered SHBG is a risk factor of metabolic syndrome in elderly males.SHBG may be an independent predictor of metabolic syndrome,but the mechanism of how SHBG is involved in the metabolic syndrome needs to be further studied.

Objective To explore the risk factors of osteoporosis and the relation with pulmonary dysfunction in elderly patients with chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD). Methods One hundred and eighty patients (82 females and 98 males) with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive lung disease (AECOPD) from March 2006 to June 2008 were selected in the study. The bone mineral density (BMD) of lumbar vertebrae and hip joint were determined by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA). All the patients were divided into two COPD groups with and without osteoporsis. The smoking history, incidence of vertebral fractures, glucocorticosteroid using condition and so on were recorded. The pulmonary function, 6-minute walk distance(6MWD), body mass index (BMI) and serum albumin concentration were evaluated. Results The mean age of all patients was (72±7)years, and the average smoking amount was (59±27)pack years. The ratio of forced expiratory volume in 1 second to forced vital capacity (FEV1/FVC) was(36.46±9.8)%, and 30% of the patients had inhaled or oral glucocorticoids for more than 3 months. The BMD measurement results showed that BMD of 95% patients(171 cases) was lower than the normal level, and 119 cases (66%) had osteoporosis, including 61 males and 58 females (62%vs. 70%, x2 = 1.435, P=0.33), and 52 cases had (29%) osteopenia. Linear correlation analysis showed that BMI, 6MWD, RV% and FVC% had positive correlation with osteoporosis (r=0.362, 0.635, 0.688, 0.973;all P<0.05).Conclusions The prevalence of osteoporosis is high in elderly patients with moderate or severe COPD, and enough attention and active intervention shoule be paid.

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of hoop circumference drug,Hongzhongxiao tincture,on the treatment of skin abscess in rats under the guidance of defended field theory.Methods Forty SpragueDawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into normal control group,model group,western medicine control group,Hongzhongxiao pretreatment group and Hongzhongxiao treatment group according to the computer generated random number.Subcutaneous abscesses models were reproduced by subcutaneous injection of 1 mL (3-5 × 109 cfu/mL) of staphylococcus aureus,and the normal control group was subcutaneously injected with the same amount of normal saline.After molding,the rats in the model group were treated with normal saline for change of dressing;the western medicine control group was treated with mupirocin ointment for external use;Hongzhongxiao pretreatment group was treated with 2 mL of Hongzhongxiao for dressing 4 hours after the modeling;in Hongzhongxiao treatment group,2 mL dressing was given after the emergence of hard swelling,and the Hongzhongxiao drug range applied was 1 cm over the swelling range.Each group was dressed once daily.The changes of mental state,body weight,skin temperature,range and time of abscess formation,wound ulceration and healing time,transcutaneous oxygen pressure (TcPO2) at the periphery of abscess were observed in each group.Results ① After modeling,the activity of the rats was decreased,the appetite became worse,and the food intake less.Except the normal control group,the rats in other groups had different degrees of mental listlessness.② After 3 days of treatment,the body weight gain of the model group was significantly lower than that of the normal control group (g:8.75 ± 9.85 vs.31.67 ± 7.92,P ＜ 0.01),and continued to 18 days after treatment (g:27.13± 11.70 vs.98.00 ± 8.94);after treatment for 18 days,the body weight gain in the western medicine control group,Hongzhongxiao pretreatment group and Hongzhongxiao treatment group was significantlyhigher than those of model group (g:53.28 ± 19.69,49.12 ± 7.23,44.71 ± 12.42 vs.27.13 ± 11.70,all P ＜ 0.05).③ After 3 days of treatment,the body temperature of the model group was obviously lower than that of the normal control group (℃:33.75 ± 0.68 vs.35.03 ± 0.41,P ＜ 0.01) and continued to 10 days (℃:34.30 ± 0.35 vs.35.03 ± 0.41,P ＜ 0.01).The body temperature of the rats in Hongzhongxiao pretreatment group was significantly lower than that in the normal control group,the model group and the western medicine control group on the 14th day after treatment (℃:33.97 ± 0.83 vs.35.10 ± 0.57,35.01 ± 0.68,35.25 ± 0.23,all P ＜ 0.05).The body temperature of Hongzhongxiao treatment group was significantly higher than that of the Hongzhongxiao pretreatment group (℃:34.87 ± 0.94 vs.33.97 ± 0.83,P ＜0.05).④ After treatment for 13,15,17 days,the contraction rates of swollen area in western medicine control group,hongzhongxiao pretreatment group and hongzhongxiao treatment group were greater than the rate in model group,and the change was most significant on the 17th day after treatment [(96.37 ± 5.09)％,(92.76 ± 13.56)％,(98.41 ± 3.85)％ vs.(77.46 ± 19.07)％,all P ＜ 0.05].⑤ Compared with the model group,the times of abscess localization in the western medicine control group,the Hongzhongxiao pretreatment group and the Hongzhongxiao treatment group was shorter than that in the model group (days:9.28 ± 1.38,7.33 ± 1.97,7.67 ± 1.63 vs.12.63 ± 1.99,all P ＜ 0.05);the time of wound healing in Hongzhongxiao pretreatment group aud Hongzhongxiao treatment group were significantly shorter than those of the model group (days:17.67 ± 1.03,16.83 ± 1.51 vs.19.92 ± 2.33,P ＜ 0.05).⑥ TcPO2 in the Hongzhongxiao pretreatment group was significantly higher than that in the model group on the 7th day after treatment [mmHg (1 mmHg =0.133 kPa):63.33 ± 9.77 vs.39.51 ± 8.42],and the Hongzhongxiao treatment group (44.25 ± 6.41) was significantly lower than that of the Hongzhongxiao pretreatment group,and the Hongzhongxiao treatment group was significantly higher than that of the model group (59.50 ± 7.34 vs.49.52 ± 10.17) on the 14th day after drug application,and the western medicine control group was significantly lower than that of the model group (37.71 ± 5.63 vs.54.33 ± 7.74),the Hongzhongxiao pretreatment group and Hongzhongxiao treatment group were significantly higher than those of the western medicine control group,the difference being statistically significant (all P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The Hongzhongxiao tincture applied on top and circumferentially around the periphery of the abscess can reduce the local inflammatory response,improve the body weight and mental state,increase the blood supply around wound periphery for anti-infection and anti-inflammation in order to promote the formation of defending field of nursing.Although the early application of Hongzhongxiao tincture cannot reduce the local infectious symptoms and kill the Staphylococcus aureus,it can make skin abscess localization as soon as possible and shorten the wound healing time.

Objective To observe the effects of electromyographic biofeedback electric stimulation therapy on lower extremities motordysfunction in children with spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy (CP). Methods According to the consent of the custodians to the new therapy,60 children with spastic hemiplegic CP were divided into treatment group and control group with 30 cases in each group. All children weretreated with motor training, physical therapy and wore the ankle-foot orthosis (AFO). The treatment group was received electromyographicbiofeedback electric stimulation therapy on their lower extremity additionally. Composite Spasticity Scale (CSS) of the hemiplegic lower extremities,the ankle angle of passive dorsiflexion motion, D and E domains of Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM-88) were performedto comparatively evaluate the effects before and 12 weeks after treatment. Results The outcomes were improved compared with the ones ofpre-treatment (P<0.05), and improved more in the treatment group (P<0.05). Conclusion The electromyographic biofeedback stimulationtherapy in combination with rehabilitation functional training in the treatment for children with spastic hemiplegic CP is more effective onspasticity of the lower extremity, increasing the range of ankle motion, improving gross motor function of lower extremities.

Objective:To investigate the occurrence and characteristics of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in medical school undergraduates, in order to provide reference to promote their mental health.Methods:Adopting stratified and cluster sampling method, 883 undergraduates from Xi ′an Medical College were selected and surveyed on March 9-16, 2020 by general condition questionnaire, PTSD Checklist-Civilian Version (PCL-C) and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ). Results:The total score of PCL-C was (24.34 ± 8.12) points, (7.19 ± 2.61) points for re-experiencing symptoms, (9.87 ± 3.49) points for avoidance symptoms, and (7.28 ± 2.85) points for arousal symptoms. The incidence of PTSD was 8.2% (72/883). The scores of PTSD symptoms were higher in grade four students and whose coping tendency was negative, (26.37 ± 9.26) and (26.49 ± 9.48), respectively ( F value was 3.065, P<0.05; t value was -9.357, P<0.001). Positive coping scores were negatively correlated to PTSD symptoms ( r value was -0.130, P<0.001), while negative coping scores were positively correlated to PTSD ( r value was 0.244, P<0.001). Medical students with strong professional attitude had lower PTSD scores (23.23 ± 6.92)( F value was 21.650, P<0.001) and lower negative coping scores (8.21 ± 4.65) ( F value was 6.567, P<0.001). Conclusions:The incidence of PTSD was 8.2% in medical school undergraduates, whose severity was related to grade and coping tendency. Appropriate crisis intervention should be taken among medical students to improve their positive coping style, strengthen their professional identification and promote their mental health.

Objective To investigate the relationship between serum periostin (POSTN) level and bone mineral density in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). Methods Ninety-five patients who had received MHD treatment for more than 3 months in the Hemodialysis Center of Qingdao Municipal Hospital from October 2022 to October 2023 were enrolled as experimental group. Meanwhile, 50 healthy individuals undergoing health examinations in the Physical Examination Center of the same hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. Clinical data such as gender and age were collected for both groups. Fasting venous blood samples were collected before dialysis to measure parathyroid hormone (PTH), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), urea nitrogen, serum creatinine, serum calcium, serum phosphorus, and other indicators. Serum POSTN levels in MHD patients and healthy individuals were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The correlation between serum POSTN levels and bone mineral density in MHD patients was explored. Univariate and multivariate binary Logistic regression analyses were performed to identify risk factors for low bone mineral density in MHD patients and assess the clinical value of serum POSTN level in predicting low bone mineral density in these patients. Results The serum POSTN level in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). These patients were divided into two groups based on T-values: normal bone mass group(47 cases, T value >-1.0) and low bone mineral density (48 cases, T value≤-1.0). The low bone mineral density group had significantly higher serum POSTN levels, dialysis vintage, PTH, ALP, serum phosphorus, β₂-microglobulin levels, and a higher proportion of females compared to the normal bone mass group (P < 0.05). Pearson correlation analysis revealed negative correlations of bone mineral density T values with serum POSTN, dialysis vintage, C-reactive protein, PTH, ALP, serum phosphorus, and β₂-microglobulin in MHD patients (r=-0.695, -0.688, -0.246, -0.528, -0.216, -0.309, -0.293; P < 0.05). Multivariate binary Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for confounding factors such as dialysis vintage, PTH, and ALP, high serum POSTN level was an independent risk factor for low bone mineral density in MHD patients. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve indicated that the area under the curve (AUC) for serum POSTN level in predicting low bone mineral density in MHD patients was 0.901, with a cut-off value of 29.66 ng/L. Conclusion MHD patients have higher serum POSTN levels than healthy individuals, and this marker is associated with low bone mineral density in MHD patients.
