1.Effect of F10 gene on activities of transcriptional factor NF-?B and AP1

AIM:To investigate the influence of F10 on the activities of transcription factor NF-?B and AP1 in A549 cells.METHODS:The luciferase report plasmids of NF-?B-Luc,AP1-Luc and F10 gene were introduced into A549 cells and the luciferase activity was detected.The DNA binding activities of AP1 and NF-?B in the cells were measured by the electrophoretic mobility shift assay(EMSA).RESULTS:The luciferase activity in F10+ transfection group decreased 30% and increased 2-fold respectively 48 h after transfected with the luciferase report plasmid of NF-?B-Luc and AP1-Luc in A549 cells.The DNA binding activity decreased 49% and increased 23%,respectively.CONCLUSION:F10 gene up-regulates the transcription activity of AP1 and down-regulates the NF-?B in A549 cells.
2.The survey of the distribution of TCM constitution of 3000 adults in urban and rural area of GuangXi province

Objective To survey the distribution of TCM constitution of Guangxi adults.Methods Identification questionnaire of constitution in TCM was performed to identify the TCM constitution types of 3000 adults who were taken medical examination in the first affiliation hospital to GuangXi TCM university Health Administration Center or of permanent residence in Nanning,Wuming,Qinzhou,Hezhou.Results 612 cases (20.4%) had constitution of phlegm-dampness in 504 cases (16.8%) had constitution of phlegm-dampness,431 cases (14.3%) had constitution of yang asthenia,422 cases (14.1%) had constitution of qi asthenia,353 cases (11.8%) had constitution of damp-heat,348 cases (11.6%) had constitution of yin asthenia,159 cases (5.3%) had constitution of qi stagnation,100 cases (3.3%) had constitution of blood stasis,and 71 cases (2.4%) had allergic constitution.Conclusion There were 9 kinds constitutions in the adults of GuangXi province.The constitution of yin-yang harmony was the most among all.Most male had phlegm-dampness or damp-heat constitution.Most female had yang asthenia,qi asthenia,qi stagnation or yin asthenia constitution.
3.Management of external iliac artery mycotic hemorrhage after kidney transplantation by the use of hypogastric artery autograft (report of one case and review of literature)

Objective To investigate the management of external iliac artery mycotic hemorrhage after kidney transplantation. Methods A case of external iliac artery mycotic hemorrhage after kidney transplantation managed by the use of hypogastric artery autograft was reported with review of the literature.The massive blooding occurred 3 times after kidney transplantation in a male patient 25 years of age on the 22nd,24th and 38th day after transplantation.The blooding amounted to 800 ml,2500 ml and 3800 ml respectively.The blood loss was replaced and prompt surgical exploration was carried out with the blooding site at the anastomosis sutured up on the 1st and 2nd episode of bleeding.On the 3rd occurrence of bleeding, the diseased external iliac artery segment, about 2cm in length, was resected and the gap was replaced by a 3cm long hypogastric artery autograft. Results The blood flow through the repaired external iliac artery and the blood supply to the lower extremity was adequate.Periodic hemodialysis had been restored and the patient waited for reimplantation. Conclusions External iliac artery mycotic hemorrhage after kidney transplantation is a serious and fatal complication.Simple arterial repair is usually noneffective.Resection of the diseased mycotic segment of the external iliac artery with repairing of the gap with a hypogastric artery autograft is rational,feasible and simple.The procedure is highly recommended.
4.Analysis of dental caries among primary and middle school students in Henan Province

Objective:
To analyze dental caries and associated factors among primary and middle school students in Henan Province, so as to provide reference for dental caries prevention and control.
Methods:
The data of physical health survey of students in Henan Province in 2019 was analyzed for caries and other related index of students aged 7, 9, 12, 14 years. Chi square test was used to compare detection rate of caries by sex and residence, analysis of variance was used to compare the height between with and without risk of caries, and Logistic regression analysis was conducted for the influencing factors of caries.
Results:
The caries rate was 56.6%. And the male students (53.4%) was lower than the female students (59.7%). The urban students (53.4%) was lower than the rural students (59.8%)( χ 2=52.31,54.00, P <0.01). The height of the caries free group was higher than that of the caries group, and the height difference was 0.5-1.6 cm; the prevalence of caries decreased with the increase of age( χ 2=992.01, P < 0.01 ). The detection rate of anemia in caries group (16.7%) was higher than that in caries free group (14.9%)( χ 2=7.98, P <0.01). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that age ( OR =0.82) gender ( OR =1.27) urban area and rural ( OR =1.26) overweight ( OR =0.67) and obesity ( OR = 0.67 ) were all influencing factors of dental caries( P <0.01).
Conclusion
Dental caries is high among primary and middle school students in Henan Province, and dental caries affects their growth, development and nutritional status, and the prevention and control measures of dental caries among primary and middle school students should be strengthened.
5.Chinese herbal medicine for the treatment of endocrine therapy-related osteoporosis among patients with breast cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Objective:
To assess the efficacy and safety of combining traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), specifically Chinese herbal medicine (CHM), with Western medicine (WM), compared to WM alone to treat breast cancer endocrine therapy-related osteoporosis (BCET-OP) by meta-analysis.
Methods:
Thirty-eight randomized controlled trials involving 2170 participants were analyzed. Eight databases were searched for articles published between inception and December 2023. Quality assessment was performed using the Risk of Bias 2 tool.
Results:
Significant increases were observed in the TCM-WM group in lumbar vertebrae bone mineral density (BMD) (P < .001, mean difference (MD) = 0.07, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.06 to 0.08), lumbar vertebrae T-score (P = .0005, MD = 0.21, 95%CI: 0.09 to 0.33) and collum femoris BMD (P = .01, MD = 0.10, 95%CI: 0.02 to 0.19). No significant difference was observed between the groups in the collum femoris T-score and estradiol levels. Bone gla-protein levels were significantly increased in the TCM-WM group (P = .0002, MD = 0.52, 95%CI: 0.25 to 0.79). Beta-CrossLaps decreased significantly in the TCM-WM group (P = .0008, MD = −0.10, 95%CI: −0.16 to −0.04). No significant difference was observed between the TCM-WM and WM groups in alkaline phosphatase, in procollagen type I N-terminal propeptide, and in the Kupperman index. The visual analog score (VAS) was decreased in the TCM-WM group compared to the WM group (P < .001, MD = −1.40, 95%CI: −1.94 to −0.87). No significant difference in adverse events was observed between the two groups.
Conclusion
Combining CHM with WM in patients with BCET-OP significantly improved BMD, T-score, and certain bone turnover markers and reduced the VAS score, indicating potential benefits for bone health and related pain. Adverse event analysis revealed no differences between the groups, supporting the feasibility of the combination therapy. However, further research, particularly in diverse populations, is required.
6.AFLP analysis of genetic diversity of Alpinia officinarum.

OBJECTIVETo explore the genetic diversity and relationship of different Alpinia officinarum germplasm.
METHODAmplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers were developed to analyze genetic polymorphism in A. officinarun from eight resources. The amplified fragments were used as primary matrix with NTSYSpc-2.11F software to analyze the similarity between the A. officinarum germplasm and to construct the genetic phylogenetic tree.
RESULTA total of 1,120 fragments were genotyped using AFLP with eight prime combinations. Analysis identified 1,044 polymorphic fragments, accounting for 92.57% of the total detected variation. Genetic phylogenetic tree analysis indicates that three categories can be divided among the eight resources of A. officinanrum.
CONCLUSIONSignificant polymorphism and genetic diversity can be observed among A. officinarum germplasm resources.

7.Effects of moxibustion at Shenque (CV8) on gastrointestinal function in rats undergoing gastric perforation repair.

METHODSThirty male SD rats with glacial acetic acid-induced gastric perforation underwent surgical repair of the perforation. The rats were then randomized 8 days later into model group (n=10), domperidone group (n=10), and moxibustion group(n=10) and treated with physiologic saline, domperidone suspension, and moxibustion at Shenque (CV8), respectively. Gastric antral myoelectric activities of the rats were observed and peripheral blood levels of TNF-α, IL-6, and T lymphocyte subpopulation were determined.
RESULTSGastric antral myoelectric activities in rats receiving moxibustion were stronger than those in the model group (P<0.05) but comparable with those in domperidone group (P>0.05). TNF-α and IL-6 level were decreased significantly and T lymphocyte subpopulations increased significantly in moxibustion group compared with those in the model and domperidone groups (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONMoxibustion at Shenque (CV8) can promote the recovery of gastrointestinal functions in rats undergoing gastric perforation repair possibly by enhancing gastrointestinal electric activity, suppressing inflammation, and improving the cellular immune function, and can therefore serve as a simple and effective adjuvant therapy during the perioperative period.

10.Evaluation on vascular access-interventional therapy of hemodialysis under ultrasound in day surgery mode

Objective:To investigate the clinical effect on ultrasound-guided vascular access-interventional therapy of hemodialysis in day surgery mode.Methods:Hemodialysis patients with vascular access dysfunction who underwent ultrasound-guided interventional therapy in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University from September 1, 2018 to October 31, 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Demographic and clinical data were collected by electronic medical record system and telephone follow-up. Kaplan-Meier method was used to analyze the patency rate of vascular access.Results:A total of 421 cases of ultrasound-guided vascular access intervention were performed in 269 patients. The technical success rates of stenosis, chronic occlusion and acute occlusion lesion were 98.8%, 90.6% and 86.4%, respectively, and 406 cases (96.4%) of 246 patients were clinically successful. The postoperative brachial artery blood flow was 821(627, 1 029) ml/min, which was significantly higher than 309(202, 453) ml/min before the operation ( Z=-13.547, P<0.001). No serious complications occurred during and after the operation. At 6, 12, 18 and 24 months after operation, the primary patency rate was 74%, 59%, 48% and 45%, respectively, the assisted primary patency rate was 94%, 91%, 88% and 82%, and the secondary patency rate was 96%, 93%, 91% and 86%. Compared with the conventional inpatient surgery mode, the total cost of the day surgery mode was significantly reduced [12 067(10 051, 13 198) yuan vs 14 986(12 411, 20 643) yuan, Z=-13.185, P<0.001], and the hospital stay was significantly shortened [5.1(3.5, 6.9) h vs 73.4(31.6, 146.6) h, Z=-13.348, P<0.001]. Conclusion:It is safe and effective to perform interventional therapy for vascular access malfunction under ultrasound in day surgery mode, which can save cost and time of hospitalization, and can be carried out in hospitals with relevant conditions.
