1.Research of Medical Virtual Endoscopy System Based on VTK

Objective To develop a virtual endoscopy system which can be integrated into PACS.Methods Key techniques on virtual endoscopy were researched and we implemented a virtual endoscopy system with the help of the Visualization Toolkit VTK.Results The Virtual endoscopy system was integrated into PACS and the post-processing function of PACS was advanced.Conclusion As a novel medical image post-processing technology,virtual endoscopy provides a completely non-invaded inspection,so it has broad application prospects in the computer-aided medical teaching,surgical navigation,surgical planning and clinical diagnosis.
2.Comparative Analysis on the Quality Between Regenerated Bark of Eucommia (Eucommia ulmoides) and Primitive Bark

The characteristic feature, tissue structure and chemical composition of primitive bark and one to four years regenerated bark of Eucommia ulmoides were compared, and the contents of elastic rubber thread, chlorogenic acid and ethanolic extract of the two barks were determined Res ilts showed that regeaerated bark is of the same quality as primitive bark.
3.ANALYSIS OF COLONOSCOPIC FINDINGS IN 70 DIVERTICULA OF COLON IN 70 ELDERLY PATIENTS

Objective Finding characteristic of senile colon diverticula in 70 cases senile colon diverticula diagnosed by colonoscope through comparing and summarizing. Methods From Jan 1997 to Dec 2001, 70 cases older than 60 years old senile colon diverticula diagnosed by colonoscope in endoscopy department of PLA general hospital. Male 54 cases ,female 16 cases .Age from 60 to 84 years old, average age 68.70?5.39. Results ①With age increased, detectable rate of colon diverticula and multiple colon diverticula rised; ②Detectable rate in male higher than female; ③Whether the single or multiple diverticula ,all predilection site is in the right colon, rate of the right to the left is 2.8∶1(42∶15), and the single diverticula is more obvious. Conclusions ①Occurrence of diverticula have relation to age; ②Incidence in the right colon of senile is lower than of young people; ③The left colon diverticula and bilateral colon diverticula in senile is higher than in young people.
4.2D, 3D Rigid Registration Algorithm Base on CUDA

Objective: Real time medical image registration technique is one of the key techniques in image based surgery navi-gation system. While in medical image analysis, image registration is usually a very time-cousuming operation, and this is not conducive to clinical real-time requirements. This paper studies and realizes the acceleration of the process of image registra-tion. Methods: In order to improve the regisWation rate, in this paper, we propose a new technology which is based on CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) programming model to accelerate the process of registration in hardware, using paral-lel methods to achieve pixel coordinate transformation, linear interpolation, and calculate the corresponding pixel gray value residuals. Results: The registration is up to the sub-pixel level and the GPU-based registration is dozens or even hundreds of times faster than CPU-based registration. Conclusions: This method greatly enhances the speed of rigid registration without changing the alignment accuracy.
5.Clinical significance of combined determination of liver fibrosis indexes from liver disease patients′serum

Objective To explore the application value of combined detection of serum hyaluronic acid(HA) ,procollagen type Ⅲ(PCⅢ) ,laminin(LN) and collagen type Ⅳ(CⅣ) .Methods Immunoradiometric analysis was conclucted to detet the index levels of serum HA ,PC Ⅲ ,LN and C Ⅳ in 81 patients with liver disease(24 cases in hepatitis group ,39 cases in liver cirrhosis group ,18 ca-ses in liver cancer group) and 40 healthy adult(control group) .Then compared the differences of 4 indicators among groups .Results Four index levels of serum liver fibrosis from liver disease patients were higher than those of control group(P< 0 .05 or P<0 .01) ,HA level of liver cirrhosis group and liver cancer group were significantly higher than that in hepatitis group (P<0 .05 ,P<0 .01)HA level of liver cancer group was higher than that of liver cirrhosis group(P<0 .05) ,liver cirrhosis was higher than hepati-tis group(P<0 .05) .Conclusion Combined determination of the serum HA ,PCⅢ ,LN and CⅣ has importantly clinical significance in early diagnosis and prognosis of hepatic fibrosis .
6.Low-level lipopolysaccharide accelerates neointimal hyperplasia after balloon injury in rats

AIM: To confirm that the inflammation response after mechanical arterial injury correlates with the neointimal hyperplasia in animal model. METHODS: Male Wistar rats underwent left common carotid balloon angioplasty were injected twice with a bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 50 ng/rat) before and after surgery. Next, just after neointima formation, the animals were sacrificed for the evaluation by morphometric analysis, histological observation and immunostaining. Western blot was used to investigate the protein expression of several known mediators of apoptosis. RESULTS: Serum interleukin-1 beta levels as a marker of inflammation were increased after LPS treated. Early neotimal lesions were characterized by intimal thickening and the presence of SMCs. Neointima with smooth muscle alpha-actin negative were observed at 7 days after injured. These areas of neointima demonstrated a relatively high proliferation index by proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) antibody staining, whereas the proliferation index in media was low. Neointimal thickness was significantly increased at 4 weeks after injury in LPS treated animals compared with controls, from (151.2?14.5 to 173.9?15.3) ?m2. Activation of caspase-3 was observed, indicating that smooth muscle cells of neointima was associated with apoptosis. Immunofluorescence analysis revealed NF-?B expression located to the adventitia. CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicate that nonspecific stimulation of low-level LPS facilitates neointimal formation and may be an important factor in the restenosis of angioplasty.
7.Health risk factors and health-related presenteeism in medical staff of a tertiary grade A hospital

Objective To study the relationships of health risk factors and health-related presenteeism in medical personnel of a tertiary grade A hospital. Methods A literature review and expert consultation were used to identify 14 health risk factors included in the survey, and the Michigan's Health Risk Appraisal Questionnaire was modified. Medical personnel of a tertiary grade A hospital in Beijing were selected for this cross-sectional study, including doctors, nurses, medical technicians, pharmacists, as well as scientific researchers, and staff members responsible for education, medical affairs, journal editors and other work. Physical measurement and questionnaire survey were conducted to collect demographic data, distribution of health risk factors of medical staff, and productivity information. Results Among 14 health risk factors, pressure or stress had the highest proportion (80.2%), followed by poor quality of sleep (63.7%), high blood lipid (33.8%), low physical activity (30.9%), and unreasonable diet (29.6%). Medical staff of different ages( c 2=16.141, P=0.001) and different occupations( c 2=15.982, P=0.003) had different probability of presenteeism. Medical staff under 30 years of age were most likely to be presenteeism (38.3%). The probability of presenteeism in nurse was the highest(56.2%). Under a high pressure and taking relax medicine seemed more likely to be presenteeism. Conclusion In the 14 kinds of health risk factors, pressure and taking relax medicine in medical staff may be associated with health-related presenteeism.
8.Fast 3D Medical Image Segmentation Based on CUDA

Objective: 3D segmentation is an important part of medical image analysis and visualization. It also continues to be large challenge in the medical image segmentation. While level sets have demonstrated a great potential for 3D medical image segmentation, these algorithms have a large computational burden thus are not suitable for real time processing requirement. To solve this problem, we propose a parallel accerelated method based on CUDA. Methods: We implement C-V level set algorithm in the CUDA environment which is the NVIDIA's GPGPU model.The segmentation speed can greatly improved by using independence of image pixel and concurrence of partial differential equation .The paper shows the flow chart of the parallel computing and gives the detailed introduction of the C-V level set algorithm which is implemented in the CUDA environment. Results: Realizing the C-V level set parallel accerelated algorithm. This method has faster segmentation speed while preserving the qualitative results, Conclusions: This method is viable and makes the fast 3D medical image segmentation come hue.
10.Effect of Ulinastatin on the Expression of TNF-α in the Rabbits with Acute Lung Injury Induced by Underwater Explosion

Objective The expression of TNF-α was detected in sera of rabbits treated by ulinastatin with acute lung injury in duced by underwater explosion.Methods Rabbits were randomly divided into two groups such as the injured group and ulinastatin therapy group.Established underwater explosion device was used to cause acute lung injury in rabbits.TNF-α in sera of the rabbits were measured by ELISA at 4,12 and 24 hours after the explosion.The SPSS17.0 software was used to analyze the data and P<0.05 was considered to be significant.Results There was no significant difference between the concentrations of TNF-α in the sera of rabbits in the injure group (538.20±201.43 ng/L) and that of in the ulinastatin group (386.90± 109.22 ng/L,t=2.088,P=0.051) at 4 hours after burst.However,there was evidently decreased in the level of TNF-α in the ulinastatin group (400.60 ± 78.98 ng/L) compared with the injury group (573.80 ± 178.24 ng/L,t =2.809,P =0.012) at 12 hours after burst.Moreover and TNF-α in the ulinastatin group (356.10 ± 130.99 ng/L) was also decreased compared to the injure group (552.30± 169.64 ng/L,t=2.895,P=0.010) at 24 hours after burst.Conclusion The TNF-α expression in sera of the rabbits in ulinastatin group were dramatically decreased than thai of in injury group at 12 hours after burst,which may be benefit to rabbits with acute lung injury induced by underwater explosion.
