Chinese Journal of Neurology 2011;44(11):742-744
Objective To study the clinical application of trigemino-cervical reflex(TCR)in migraine without aura(MWOA)and chronic tension-type headache(CTTH).Methods The TCR was recorded using surface electromyographic recordings bilaterally from the sternocleidomastoid muscle after stimulation of infraorbital branch of the trigeminal nerve. The reflex was investigated in 25 patients with unilateral MWOA,25 patients with CTTH and 36 healthy subjects. The patients were outpatients who visited Fujian provincial institution hospitals from January 2009 to February 2010.Results Compared with the healthy subjects, the bilateral peak latency of P19/N31(PLP19 and PLN31)was significantly shortened in the subjects with MWOA(left and fight side were(19.49 ± 1.95)ms and(19.81 ± 1.79)ms respectively)or CTTH(left:(19.56 ±2.02)ms,and right:(19.16 ± 1.67)ms),t values were between 2.027 and 3.654,all P < 0.05.The values of PLP19 and PLN31 between the patients with MWOA and with CTTH were not significantly different. Conclusions The peak latency of P19/N31 was shortened in the subjects with MWOA or CTTH,suggesting that the trigeminal and brainstem may participate in the pathophysiology of MWOA and CTTH.There was no significant difference in PLP19 and PLN31 between the patients with MWOA and CTTH,indicating similar abnormalities in the endogenous pain control mechanisms in both migraine and

Objective To evaluate the value of MSCT in differentiate cystic lesions in different cervical region. Methods Forty cases with cyst lesions in the neck which was confirmed by pathology were collected in our study. The following diseases were excluded: cystic lesions from thyroid gland and thymus or bronchus, cystic changes of solid lesions ( necrotic lymph node) and cystic or solid lesions in the parotid gland. All patients underwent MSCT scan on GE Lightspeed 16. The parameters were following: 120 kV,260 mA, thickness 5 mm, pitch 1. 375. The delay time for contrast enhanced CT was 25 seconds for arterial phase and 60 seconds for vein phase. Results Lesions were analyzed in 4 different cervical regions including parotid gland, midline, lateral cervix and posterior cervix. Among the lesions in parotid area,2 were first brachial cyst and the other 2 were epidermoid cyst. First brachial cyst occurred intraparotid gland and epidermoid cyst occurred intraparotid or extraparotid gland. Among the lesions in midline area, 17 cases were thyroglossal cysts,81.0% were in the level hyoid bone, 12 cases of thyroglossal cysts protruded at the preepiglottic space or oral base. Another kind of lesions in midline included 3 cases of epiglottic cysts and 1 epidermoid cyst in the lower level of the neck which involved infrasternal level. The 12 cases of second brachial cysts occurred in the lateral neck. Ten cases were in the left side. Type Ⅱ was the most common type and account for 5 cases among all of second brachial cysts. Type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ were running up,accounting 3 cases respectively. Type Ⅳ account for 1 case. Two cases with lymphangioma and 1 case with third brachial cyst located at the posterior neck. Conclusion According to the location and typical imaging appearance, MSCT can do the differentiation of different cystic lesions in the different area of neck.

Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
The development of transitional epithelium of ureter and urinary bladder in the rats from prenatal 15 days old to postnatal 4 weeks old was studied by histological and histochemical methods. During the development, RNA and glycogen contents are increased at first and then decreased. The activity of SDH,AcP and AlP increased gradually and ATPase reaction was negative. These parameters tended to be stable from the postnatal 3rd week, it meants that the epithelium tend to maturation. On the prenatal 15th day there were some significant differences between the epithelium of the two organs, however thereafter they gradually become identical and they showed the same type of epithelium, i.e. transitional epithelium at maturation. This means that they reached the same goal by different routes. In addition, on the prenatal 15th day the epithelium of urinary bladder stratified in most portions, some of the superficial cells degenerate. Hence it deduced that the epithelium of urinary bladder undergo primitive stratification firstly, nad then cell degeneration happens, and evolve into trasitional form ultimately. Meanwhile, We presume that in certain extent, the development of the epithelium of the two organs, including cell temporary degeneration, in addition to the action of embryonic induction, probably related to the content of urinary tract also.

Objective To objectively analyze the manifestation of sleep disorders in patients with Parkinson' s disease (PD) using polysomnogram (PSG) and multiple sleep latency test (MSLT). Method Twenty-six patients (PD group)with PD and 31 controls without CNS diseases( control group) underwent all night ambulatory video-polysomnographic monitoring and MSLT on the next day. Sleep architecture, mean sleep latency, sleep onset rapid eye movement (REM) periods(SOREMPs) and sleep attacks(Sas) of the two groups were analyzed. Results When compared to the controls, percentage of NREM stage 2 sleep, percentage of REM sleep, mean sleep latency in the PD patient group were significantly decreased (32.8% ±13.1% vs40.2% ±9.1%,t = -2.515;8.6% ±5.3% vs 11.5% ±5.1%,t = -2.054;(9.6 ± 4. 4) min vs ( 15.7 ± 3. 1 ) min, t = - 6. 1 64, all P < 0. 05 ), while arousal index was significantly increased ( (41.8 ± 32. 1 )/h vs ( 28.6 ± 1 1. 0 )/h, t = 2. 151, P < 0. 05 ). The prevalence of excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS; 7/26, 26. 9% ) was higher in the PD patient group than in the controls (1/31,3. 2%; ×2 =4. 764,P<0. 05). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that after adjusting for sleep efficiency, apnea hypopnea index, arousal index, decreasing mean sleep latency in PD patients was significantly associated with both age( β = -0. 328) and levodopa equivalents( β = -0. 008; t = -2. 829,-2. 352,all P < 0.05). SOREMPs occurred in 5 of 26 (19.2%) PD patients and Sas occurred in 3 ( 11.5% ) PD patients but did not occur in the controls. Conclusion Changes in sleep architectures and EDS are more common in PD patients. Physicians should be highly vigilant in recognizing Sas, which are uncommon in PD patients.

Objective To investigate the effects of JNK inhibition on insulin signaling pathway. Methods HepG2 cells were treated with different kinds of JNK inhibitors for 12 h, and then the cells were treated with 10 nmol/L insulin for 5 min to stimulate insulin signaling pathway. Mitogen-activated protein kinases ( MAPK ) and insulin signaling pathways were analyzed by Western blot using the total cell lysates. Results JNK activity was significantly inhibited by JNK inhibitor JNKi-Ⅷand results showed that JNKi-Ⅷtreatment could reduce insulin signaling pathway in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, other JNK inhibitors including JNKi-Ⅴ, JNKi-Ⅲ, and SP600125 blocked JNK activity in HepG2 cells. Similar to JNKi-Ⅷ, these JNK inhibitors also impaired insulin signaling transduction in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusion In HepG2 hepatocytes, JNK activity inhibition blocks insulin signaling transduction.

Objective To express soluble single chain variable fragments (ScFv) of monoclonal antibody MC3 recognizing colorectal carcinomas in E. coli HB2151 and to purify the soluble ScFv and identify its antigen binding activities to find new target vectors for the diagnosis and therapy of colorectal carcinomas. Methods The phage clones displaying ScFv fragment of the monoclonal antibody MC3 were used to infect E. coli HB2151 to express soluble antibodies. The soluble ScFvs were identified by Dot blot and Western blot and their antigen binding activities were determined by ELISA. The VH and VL DNAs of the ScFv DNA derived were sequenced based on the dideoxy method. Results The soluble MC3 ScFvs were expressed successfully. The expression products with a proximate MW of 32?10 3 were mainly secreted into the periplasm. The soluble ScFv containing periplasmatic extracts derived from three clones could inhibit the binding of MC3 with its antigen, and the inhibition rates were 41.19%, 36.89% and 33.77% respectively. The sequences of the VH and VL DNAs of the MC3 ScFv showed that the variable antibody genes belonged to the IgG1 subgroup and ? type. Conclusion Generation of E. coli HB2151 expressed ScFv of monoclonal antibody MC3 paves the way for further use of the antibody.
