2.The Changes of Rat Thyroid Gland C Cells in Acute Intestinal Radiation Sickness (AIRS)
Journal of Third Military Medical University 1988;0(05):-
The rats were exposed to 20Gy of X-ray one time systemically to imitate the model of AIRS. By using immunocytochemistry, immunoelectromicroscopy and microspectrophotometry (MSP) technique , the changes of rat thyroid gland C cells in AIRS were investigated. The results show that, the changes of C cells could be divided into two phases. In the first phase (the first 24 h after irradiation) , no obvious morphological change could be observed, whereas the concentration of serum calcium (CSC) dropped remarkably. It seems that the synthesis and secretion of calcilonin (CT) within C cells might increase during this period. The second phase is from 24th h to 72th h after irradiation, the TA (total absorbance) measured by MSP reduced. and the ultrastructural pictures showed progressive destructive changes. All these findings suggest that: The C cells of rat thyroid gland, as a kind of APUD system cell, is no doubt involved in the AIRS pathological changes. The possible pathogenic mechanism was briefly discussed.

Chinese Journal of Ultrasonography 2011;20(8):669-671
Objective To investigate the role of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) on the diagnostic efficacy of ultrasound-guided percutaneous biopsy of peripheral lung lesions. Methods Ninty-six patients with pleural-based lesions underwent percutaneous ultrasound-guided biopsy. Of the 96 patients,54patients underwent CEUS before biopsy and enhancement information was referred for the selecting of tissue sampling site. The rest of 42 patients didn' t undergo CEUS before biopsy. The difference in the diagnostic accuracy between the two groups was analyzed to evaluate the value of CEUS before biopsy. Results Of the 52 patients in the CEUS group,48 were malignant, and 6 were benign. Of the 42 patients in the un-CEUS group,36 were malignant, and 6 were benign. Necrosis (areas lacking of enhancement) was demonstrated in 41.7% (20/48) of the patients with malignant lesions in CEUS group, and necrosis incidence was increased with the increase of the dimension of the malignant lesions. No necrosis area was demonstrated in 6 benign lesions. The rate of successful initial biopsy in CEUS group (98.1 % ,53/54) was statistically higher than that in un-CEUS group ( 85.7%, 36/42 ) ( P < 0.05 ). Tissue necrosis and denaturalization attributed to most of the inconclusive pathologic diagnosis. Conclusions CEUS before transthoracic peripheral lung lesion biopsy improved the diagnostic accuracy of the procedure by providing information for differentiating viable or necrotic tissue and consequently provide more accurate information about the site of biopsy.

PurposeTo evaluate the feasibility and clinical values of CT scan with iterative reconstruction and low radiating dose in craniocerebral trauma.Material and Methods 120 patients suffered from craniocerebral trauma were randomly assigned. All the subjects underwent CT scan using route dose of filtered back projection (FBP) and low dose of iDose (? dose and ? dose), respectively. The quartering were used to subjectively evaluate noise of imaging, skull base artifact, contrast of gyrus-white matter and lesion display in each group. Imaging noise, signal and noise rate (SNR), contrast and noise rate (CNR) of gyrus-white matter and dose length product (DLP) were compared. Results The image quality of both? iDose and ? iDose groups were lower than that of FBP group, but still met the requirement of diagnosis. The image noise of both? iDose and ? iDose groups were higher than that of FBP group (P<0.05). The SNR and CNR of both? iDose and ? iDose groups were lower than those of FBP group (P<0.05). The DLP of both? iDose and ? iDose groups were lower than that of FBP group. There was statistical difference between iDose groups and FBP group (F=2751.46,P<0.05).Conclusion Application of iDose could effectively decrease radiation dose in craniocerebral trauma. Although iDose technique has higher noise level and lower SNR and CNR, the imaging qualities and capability of displaying abnormity meet diagnosis requirement. So that iDose has clinical significance.

BACKGROUND:Cuscuta chinensis is a mature seed of Cuscutachinensis Lam., can warm kidney. Previous studies demonstrated that kidney compound composed of Cuscuta chinensis could apparently inhibit bone loss and improve bone density.
OBJECTIVE:To explore the influence of flavonoids from Cuscuta chinensis on bone mineral density of femur, 1,25(OH)2D3 levels of serum and kidney, the expression of smal intestine CaBp-D9K mRNA in model rats with ovariectomized osteoporosis.
METHODS:A total of 72 Sprague-Dawley female rats were equal y and randomly divided into six groups (n=12):sham surgery group, model group, vitamin D3 group and low-, moderate-and high-dose flavonoids groups. The sham surgery group only received sham operation and the other five groups were ovariectomized respectively. One week after ovariectomy, the rats were given flavonoids from low-, moderate-and high-dose Cuscuta chinensis and vitamin D3 (2 mg/kg) by intragastric administration for 3 consecutive months. Blood was obtained from the abdominal aorta. Serum was isolated. The kidney was obtained. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay was used to determine 1,25(OH)2D3 contents of renal and serum. Rats were sacrificed at the end of experiment. The thighbone was taken out to determine bone mineral density. The second lumbar vertebra was taken out to measure the expression of lumbar vertebra and renal vitamin D receptor mRNA using real-time fluorescent reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. The smal intestine was taken out to measure the expression of smal intestine CaBp-D9K mRNA using real-time fluorescent reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with the sham operation group, bone mineral density of femur, and 1,25(OH)2D3 levels of serum and kidney and the expression of lumbar vertebra vitamin D receptor mRNA significantly decreased in model group, and the expression of smal intestine CaBp-D9K mRNA significantly decreased in model group. Compared with the model group, bone mineral density of femur, and 1,25(OH)2D3 levels of serum and kidney, and the expression of the second lumbar vertebra vitamin D receptor mRNA, and the expression of smal intestine CaBp-D9K mRNA were increased in moderate-and high-dose flavonoids groups and vitamin D3 group. Results indicated that flavonoids from Cuscuta chinensis could significantly raise bone mineral density of femur, and 1,25(OH)2D3 levels of serum and kidney and the expression of lumbar vertebra vitamin D receptor mRNA and the expression of smal intestine CaBp-D9K mRNA, accelerate intestinal calcium absorption and osteoblast activity, and reinforce quality of the bone.
