Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2016;51(1):122-6
The degradation kinetics of chlorogenic acid (5-CQA), cryptochlorogenic acid (4-CQA), and neochlorogenic acid (3-CQA) in aqueous solution at 37 degrees C and different pH values (7.05, 7.96, 9.25) were investigated in the present work. The results indicated that 3-, 4- and 5-CQA tended to remain stable in acidic pH circumstance, and unstable in neutral and alkaline pH circumstance. With the increase of the alkalinity, the degradation of 3-, 4- and 5-CQA was increased leading to a less amount of total CQA and was satisfactorily described by the Weibull equation. Meanwhile, caffeic acid was not detected after the degradation of CQA. Moreover, the degradation of 3-CQA and 5-CQA tended to be converted to 4-CQA, and the degradation of 4-CQA tended to be converted to 3-CQA rather than 5-CQA. The comparison of the degradation kinetics parameters of 3-, 4- and 5-CQA at neutral and alkaline pH values showed that the orders of the rate constant (k) values were 4-CQA > 3-CQA > 5-CQA, while the orders of the degradation half life (t½) values were 4-CQA < 3-CQA < 5-CQA, indicating the orders of the stabilities of 3-, 4- and 5-CQA at 37 degrees C and neutral and alkaline pH values were 4-CQA < 3-CQA < 5-CQA.

Objective To analyze the demographic characteristics, composition characteristics as well as influencing factors of the cost of hospitalization of patients with lung cancer in Gansu Province in order to help reduce their expenses. Methods The basics, healthcare records and expenses of patients diagnosed with lung cancer in a third-level grade-A hospital in Lanzhou were extracted between 2010 and 2014 through the hospital information system(HIS)database. The Wilcoxon rank-sum test was used to analyze the difference of expense composition over the past five years and the difference between subgroups. The forward, backward and stepwise selection method was used to select variables and the multi-linear regression analysis was adopted to explore the influencing factors of the cost of hospitalization. Results A total of 2778 eligible lung cancer patients were collected. The statistical analysis showed that western medicine cost (36.39%)and treatment cost (22.46%)accounted for the most of the total expense. The length of hospital stay was the No.1 influencing factor of the cost of hospitalization, followed by the acceptance of surgery, the year of admission and charge type. Conclusion Regulating drug use, enhancing treatment regimens, giving psychological guidance, strengthening hospital management and improving medical resources allocation may be effective measures to reduce the cost of hospitalization and lighten the economic burden for lung cancer patients in Gansu Province.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2015;(5):601-604,605
Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases have be-come a great health threat.Increasing evidence has shown that both asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA)and symmetric dim-ethylarginine (SDMA)play important and independent roles in the development of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases as well as in the prediction of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events.Alanine-glyoxylate aminotransferase 2 (AGXT2 )is re-cently observed to be involved in ADMA metabolism.Deficiency in the expression and activity of AGXT2 may thus play a role in the development of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases by affecting ADMA levels in vivo.Several single-nucleotide poly-morphisms at AGXT2 locus are observed to be associated with plasma SDMA level. This review summarizes recent advances in AGXT2 and its role in ADMA metabolism and the clinical rele-vance.
