AIM: This study was conducted to evaluate the bone repairing ability of coral artificial bone(CAB) composite of human recombinant bone morphogenetic protein-2(rhBMP-2-CAB) implanted into extraction sockets. METHODS: 12 adult dogs served as the experimental animals. Immediately after extraction of the upper second and third incisors, rhBMP-2-CAB and CAB were respectively implanted into each site of extraction sockets. The bone repairing ability of the two grafts was analyzed with histology, image analysis system and radionuclide bone imagining at 4th, 8th and 12th week, respectively. Objective:To synthesize substituted pyridine propynyl carbamates and to test their antimicrobial activities. Methods: Eight novel compounds were designed and synthesized. Antimicrobial tests in vitro were carried out with 8 common mildews (Aspergullus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus versicolor, Trichoderma viride, Paecilomium varioti Bainier, Chaetomium globsum, Penicillium citrinum, Cladochytrium clodospoium) and 5 bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Bacillus fluorescens, Bacillus megatherium). Results: All compounds synthesized showed antimicrobial activity, especially the compound 1f, whose activity was more potent than that of compound 3-iodo-2-propynyl-butyl-carbamate (IPBC). Conclusion: Compound 1f is worth further studying and exploration.

Objective To study the computed tomograhpy (CT) features of non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) and multidrug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis (MDR-TB), and to improve the differential diagnosis of the disease. Methods The CT imaging data of 67 patients diagnosed with NTM pulmonary disease (NTM lung disease group) and 103 patients with MDR-TB (MDR-TB group) were selected from January 2010 to December 2015 in our hospital. The imaging findings and differences in lesion location were compared between two groups. Results Lesions of NTM lung disease occurred in the posterior segment of the posterior and posterior lumbar dorsal (Ⅰarea), clustered lobular central nodules, accompanied by bronchiectasis and subpleural thin wall empty, rare bronchial foci. MDR-TB lesions occurred in the middle lobe of the right lung and the upper lobe of the left lung (Ⅱarea). The upper lung of the lungs were patch, nodules and caseous lesions, with thick wall and chronic lung inflammation, showing thick wall empty, pulmonary consolidation, atelectasis, calcification (lung), hilar mediastinal lymph node calcification, lung volume reduction, pleural thickening and pleural effusion. Conclusion Chest CT images are similar in NTM lung disease and MDR-TB, but there are differences. The detailed analysis of image features can provide a basis for clinical differential diagnosis.

AIM:To evaluate the inhibitory effect of FRNK on the phosphorylation of FAK and apoptosis in hepatic stellate cells (HSCs). METHODS: After stimulated with fibronectin, HSCs was transfected with FRNK plasmid by cationic liposome method. The apoptosis of FRNK-induced HSCs was examined by Annexin-V/propidium iodide double-labeled flow cytometry (FCM), gel electrophoresis and transmission electron microscope. The protein levels of FRNK, FAK and p-FAK (Tyr397) in HSCs were assayed by Western blotting, and RT-PCR was used to detect the expression of mRNA. Objective To investigate the effects of ulinastatin-containing autologous cold blood cardioplegic solution on the cardiac function of infants after cardiopulmonary bypass surgery.Methods Sixty infants younger than 10 months old,who underwent ventricular septal defect repair under cardiopulmonary bypass,were randomized into autologous cold blood cardioplegia group (30 patients,Group A)and ulinastatincontaining cold blood cardioplegia group (30 patients,Group B).CI,SI and LCWI were monitored 1 and 6 hours after opening the aorta.The time and rate of cardiac resuscitation,as well as the dependence on the inotropic drugs,were intraoperatively monitored.Results The automatic resuscitation rate in two groups was not siynificantly ( P ＞ 0.05).The time for automatic resuscitation were (34.2 ± 4.7) s and (52.1 ± 6.5 ) s for Group B and Group A,respectively ( P ＜ 0.05 ).The rate of dependence on inotropic drug were 40.0％ (12/30) and 66.7％ (20/30)for Group B and Gro~p A,respectively (P ＜ 0.05).Mter the operation,the CI,SI and LCWI of group B were higher than that of group A ( P ＜0.05 ).Conclusion Ulinastatin-containing autologous cold blood cardioplegic solution is beneficial to the functional cardiac recovery of the infants after heart bypass surgery by protecting the immature myocardium.

BACKGROUND:Previous tudies have shown that the anti-aging effects of stem cel s with lycopene are more significant, and can also significantly improve the aging body immune function.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the anti-aging effects of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cel s combined with lycopene on the aging beagles.
METHODS:Sixteen aging beagles (6-7 years old) were randomly divided into two groups:aging control group and aging treatment group;young beagles (3-4 years old) were chosen as young control group. In the aging treatment group, human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cel s combined with lycopene was given;while in the other two group, an equal amount of DMEM/F12 cel culture medium and sunflower oil was given. Each dog's general conditions were observed regularly during the whole progress. The changes of superoxide dismutase,
malondialdehyde, glutathione peroxidase in the serum were detected at regular time of the whole process, and the structure changes of each organ were observed at 24 weeks of treatment.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Before treatment, the levels of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase in the aging control and treatment groups were lower than those in the young control group (P<0.05), while the malondialdehyde content was higher than that in the young control group (P<0.05). However, there was no significant statistical difference between aging control and treatment groups (P>0.05). (2) For the aging treatment group at 24 weeks of treatment:the beagle fur became clearer and smoother, motility was strengthened, appetite became better;and the activity of superoxide dismutase in serum at 8 to 24 weeks of treatment increased significantly compared with before treatment (P<0.05), the activity of glutathione peroxidase significantly increased from 6 weeks (compared with treatment before, P<0.05), the malondialdehyde content decreased significantly from 4 weeks of treatment to the completion of the experiment (compared with before treatment, P<0.05). (3) After the experiment, the microscopic observation showed that compared with the aging control group, the tissues and organ structures of the aging treatment group were al clear, had no inflammatory infiltrates, no obvious necrosis and fibrosis lesions. These results were mainly consistent with the observations of young control group. The above results show that umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cel s combined with lycopene therapy on the natural aging beagles may enhance the activities of antioxidant enzymes, reduce malondialdehyde content, and their combination also can repair tissue structures and promote the functions, which has obvious anti-aging effects.
