14-3-3 protein is a highly conserved soluble acid family. Recent researches suggest that they play critical regulatory roles in cellular processes such as cellular mitosis,growth,differentiation,proliferation and death,etc.14-3-3sigma protein,one member of the family,expresses mainly in epithelial cells and has histological specificity.14-3-3sigma protein interacts with several signal transduction proteins,induces cell cycle arrest in G2 phase after DNA damage,and regulates cellular biological functions.Abnormal expression of 14-3-3? sigma protein is common during tumor transformation,which may be induced by p53 mutation or CpG island hypermethylation of promoter. It is closely related with the transformation,progress and prognosis of human malignant tumors.

The polymorphisms of paraoxonase 1 ( PON 1 ) and ApoE gene in 192 patients with type 2diabetes mellitus (DM group) , 116 cases of atherosclerosis (AS) without DM (AS group), and 105 normal subjects (NC group ) were detected by means of PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism. The serum concentration of Ox-LDL was determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The results showed that plasma Ox-LDL level in DM group was higher than those in AS and NC groups[(754.2±279.9 vs 526. 1±186.2 and 421.1 ± 163.2 )μg/L, P<0.01]. Ox-LDL level in the patients with QQ genotype of PON 1 was higher than those in QR and RR genotypes in type 2 DM[(846.6±147.5 vs 763.4±126. 7 and 7 1 3.2 ±132.4 ) μg/L, P<0. 0l],and Ox-LDL level in the patients with ε3/4+ ε4/4 genotype of ApoE was also higher than those in ε3/3 and ε2/2 + ε2/3 geneotypes in type 2 DM[( 824.3 ± 173.5 vs 741.6± 182. 5 and 718.3 ± 167.5 ) μg/L, P<0.05], but the difference was not found in atherosclerosis without DM. Multiple regression analysis showed that disease duration, PON1 and ApoE genotypes were the independent predictors of plasma Ox-LDL level in patients with type 2 DM.

[Objective] To study the effects of different growth periods on the contents of volatile oil and the curcumol in Curcuma aromatica Salisb. samples,which provided theoretical bases to control the quality of the crude drug of Curcuma aromatica Salisb.[Method]The contents of volatile oil in Curcuma aromatica Salisb. samples were determined by the method of Pharmacopeia,and HPLC method for determination of curcumol in different samples was established. [Result]The contents of volatile oil in different samples lied in the range of 0.820%～0.471%(g/g),and the contents of curcumol in different volatile oil samples were between 0.862%(g/g) and 1.380%(g/g). [Conclusion]Compared with the Curcuma aromatica Salisb. of a shorter growing period,the contents of longer growth period were higher.Different growing time had effects on the accumulating of volatile oil and the curcumol in Curcuma aromatica Salisb.

Stratum corneum,the outermost layer of the mammalian skin, has its unique structural,biophysical and biochemical characteristics.The form of stratum corneum is a continuous sheath of protein-enriched corneocytes embedded in an intercellular matrix enriched in nonpolar specialized lipids.It provides an impermeable barrier from exogenous noxious substances and prevents the body from transdermal water loss.Recent researches suggest that its morphological and functional abnormalities can be induced by various environmental effects such as ultraviolet radiation,mechanical friction,organic solvents,etc.However,the mechanism of the injury-repair process remains unclear.Several cytokines and ceramide may be involved in the regulation.

Objective To evaluate the effect of deferoxamine on learning and memory ability in aged rats.Methods Forty-two healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats,aged 18 months,weighing 450-550 g,were randomly divided into 2 groups (n =21 each) using a random number table:normal saline group (group N) and deferoxamine group (group D).In group D,deferoxamine 150 mg/kg was injected intraperitoneally once a day for 6 consecutive days,while the equal volume of normal saline was given instead in group N.Morris water maze test was conducted at 2 h after each injection on that day,lasting for 6 days.The escape latency,swimming speed,time of staying at the original platform quadrant and time spent in the central region were recorded.Hippocampal ferritin expression was detected by Western blot before the first administration and at 2 h after 3rd and 2nd administration.Results Compared with group N,the escape latency was significantly shortened,and the percentage of the time of staying at the original platform quadrant and time spent in the central region was increased,the expression of hippocampal ferritin was down-regulated,and no significant change was found in the swimming speed in group D.Conclusion Deferoxamine can enhance the learning and memory ability in aged rats,and reduced iron deposition in hippocampi is involved in the mechanism.

Objective This study was designed to determine the influence of acute ethanol intoxication (AEI) on brain edema and aquaporin-4(AQP-4) levels after traumatic brain injury(TBI) in rots. The underlying mechanism was also investigated. Method Severe traumatic brain injury models were made using the Feeny method; acute ethanol intoxication models were established by gavagy. One hundred and ninety-two male SD rats were randomly divided(random number) into four groups, namely the sham operation group(A ), the acute ethanol intoxication group( B ), the traumatic brain injury group(C) and the combination of acute ethanol intoxication with traumatic brain injury group(D). Each group was further divided into four sub-groups according to the time interval between injury and death of the rats. After brain tissue was fixed by affusing paraformaldehyde, the expression of AQP-4 was detected by immunohistochemistry. Water content was detected by dry-wet analysis, and AQP-4 mRNA and protein were detected by RT-PCR and western blotting respectively after the brain tissue was got by rapid decapitation. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA. Results The water content of brain tissue and expression level of AQP-4 were not significantly different between groups A and B( P > 0.05); however both were significantly increased in groups C and D relative to group A( P < 0.05). The water content of brain tissue in group D increased by mere than that in group C( P < 0.05), while the expression level of AQP-4 in group D was lower than that in group C(P<0.05). Conclusions Acute ethanol intoxication inhibited the expression of AQP-4,which induced a more severe cerebral edema after traumatic brain injury.

Objective To dynamically observe the effect of mild hypothermia on concentration of plasma S-100B protein in patients with acute severe brain injuries so as to further explore its role in treat-ment of acute severe brain injury. Methods A total of 120 patients with acute severe brain injuries were randomly divided into mild hypothermia group and general group. The patients in mild hypothermia group were treated with mild hypothermia besides conventional therapy, with maintenance of rectal tem-perature at 33℃-35℃ for 3-5 days. Serial concentration of S-IOOB protein in serum was measured in all patients from 6 hours to 6 days after hospitalization. GOS evaluation was done three months after treat-ment. Results The concentration of S-100B protein in serum of mild hypothermia group and general group was significantly higher than of normal group (P <0.05), with significant lower level in mild hypo-thermia group than general group(P <0.05). Mild hypothermia could improve prognosis of patients with acute severe brain injury. Conclusions Early use of mild hypothermia can decrease concentration of S-100B protein in serum, protect neurofunction and improve prognosis, as may be related to its function in alleviating damnification brain cell inflammation reaction mediated by S-100B protein.

Objective To study the antipyretic,anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of Chaigeshubiao granules. Methods Animals were randomly divided into 6 groups:blank control group,indomethacin group,Fengreganmao granules group and the high, the medium and the low dosage groups of Chaigeshubiao granules ( 26, 13, 6. 5 g . kg-1 ) . Each group was administered via intragastric administration once a day for 5 days.Rat model suffering from fever by dried yeast,relieving fever of Chaigeshubiao granules was investigated;Rats with toe swelling by 1% carrageenin and mice with ear swelling by dimethylbenzene were applied to observe anti-inflammatory effects of Chaigeshubiao granules were observed;The pain models induced by 0. 6%acetic acid and the hot-plate tests in mice were used to observe the analgesic effects of Chaigeshubiao granules. Results Compared with negative control group,Chaigeshubiao granules in high dosage could obviously decrease the temperature of rat with fever induced by dried yeast 0.5 h later,and the medium dosage group decreased 4-6 h later. Moreover,Chaigeshubiao granules in high dosage could inhibit inflammatory reaction of rat with toe swelling caused by albumen at 1 h,2 h,3 h,when the medium dosage group inhibited at 2 h,3 h,4 h. The inhibition ratio of the mice with ear swelling induced by dimethylbenzene was 58.2%, 52.0% and 53.9%,respectively at the high,medium and low dose groups. And the inhibition ratio of retortion of mice by 0.6%acetic acid was 50.5%,68.8%,58.1%,respectively, at the high,medium and low dose groups. In addition,the high,medium and low dose groups reduced the pain reaction latency of mice in the hot-plate tests. Conclusion Chaigeshubiao granules have antipyretic,anti-inflammatory and analgesic actions.

Objective To summarize the characteristics of multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT) of portal vein diseases and investigate the CT diagnosis of its primary and secondary diseases.Methods The imaging data of 62 patients from Xi'an Xidian Group Hospital,28 patients from Nuclear Industry 215 Hospital of Shanxi Province and 16 patients from Xi'an Gaoxin Hospital with portal vein diseases from January 2012 to March 2015 were retrospectively analyzed.The CT findings,primary and secondary diseases of portal vein lesions were recorded through plain scan and enhanced scan of MSCT.Results Changes in the width of portal vein:among 106 patients,dilation of main portal vein was detected in 45 cases,stenosis of stem or branches of portal vein in 39 cases,portal vein obstruction in 49 cases (21 patients accompanied with enlargement in stem of portal vein and 6 patients with normal width).The diameters of dilated portal vein were 1.4-2.2 cm with a mean diameter of 1.8 cm.The diameters of portal vein with stenosis and occlusion caused by carcinomas were 1.8-4.0 cm with a mean diameter of 2.3cm.Portal vein fistula and pneumatosis:hepatic artery-portal vein fistulas were detected in 12 patients,posterior right branches of portal vein-inferior vena cava fistulas in 2 patients,inferior vena cavaportal vein fistulas and portal-hepatic vein fistulas in 2 patients,pneumatosis in 2 patients.Lesions of portal vein occlusions:occlusions located at main portal veins were detected in 4 cases,left and right branches in 34 cases,both main portal veins and left or right branches in 11 cases.Malignant stenosis and occlusion were detected in 29 and 42 cases,benign stenosis and occlusion were detected in 10 and 7 cases,respectively.Protopathies of portal vein dilation:there were 43 patients with liver cirrhosis and 2 patients with inferior vena cava-portal vein-hepatic vein fistula of Budd-Chiari syndrome.Protopathies of benign stenosis and occlusion:portal vein thrombosis in liver cirrhosis,giant cavernous haemangioma,polycystic disease of liver,pylephlebitis caused by liver abscess,portal vein thrombosis caused by polycythemia vera.Protopathies of hepatic artery portal vein fistula and portal veininferior vena cava fistula:liver cancer and liver cirrhosis,protopathy of inferior vena cava-portal vein fistula and portal vein-hepatic vein fistula were Budd-Chiari syndrome.Protopathies of pneumatosis:intestinal infarction after superior mesenteric artery embolus and acute gastric dilatation.Portacaval collateral circulation occurred in 58 patients (partial patients complicated with multi-point varices and shunts),ascites in 44 patients,portal vein cavernous transformation in 12 patients,ischemia and edema of intestinal wall in 5 patients,intrahepatic cholangiectasis in 19 patients including 17 cases of biliary obstruction caused by malignant tumors and 2 cases of portal vein cavernous transformation complicated with intrahepatic cholangiectasis (portal hypertensive biliopathy).Conclusions The MSCT for portal vein diseases is presented as portal vein stenosis,occlusion or dilation,pneumatosis.Secondary lesions are portacaval collateral circulation,portal vein cavernous transformation,intestinal ischemia and portal hypertensive biliopathy,and primary lesions are mainly liver cirrhosis and malignant tumors.MSCT can show clearly the portal vein lesions and diagnose accurately its primary and secondary lesions.
