Objective To analyze the relationship between CT characteristics of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) and its recurrence, as well as relevant pathological mechanism. Methods The study involved 178 patients with CSDH who underwent surgery, of whom 38 patients (40 lesions) experienced recurrence of CSDH. Univariate and multivariate logistic analyses were performed to assess the correlation among CT characteristics ( including side, density, width, subtype and midline shift of the hematoma) and CSDH recurrence. Results ( 1 ) The width of hematoma, midline shift, type of hematoma were found to be correlated with the recurrence of CSDH in the univariate analysis. The odds ratio (OR)and 95% confidence interval (CI) value of patients with hematoma width >30 mm, midline shift >10 mm and the separated type were 18. 400 (2.024-167. 301 ), 4. 643 ( 1. 815-11. 877 ) and 14. 385 (3. 601-57.467 ), respectively. (2) The midline shift and type of hematoma were found to be correlated with the recurrence of CSDH in the multivariate analysis, when the OR and 95% CI value of patients with hematoma midline shift > 10 mm and separated type were 5. 280 ( 1. 339-20. 823) and 19. 125 (4. 175-87.619), the OR and 95% CI value of patients with hematoma width >30 mm was 14. 838 ( 1. 353-162.698). Conclusions Type of hematoma and midline shift are found to be independently correlated with the recurrence of CSDH, and the width of hematoma is also related with its recurrence.

Objective To investigate the effects of cell suspension including Matrigel, normal culture medium and phosphate buffer saline (PBS) on the xenograft model establishment of human osteosarcoma. The function of Matrigel on regulating human osteosarcoma cell differentiation and proliferation was analyzed. Methods Twenty-four BALB/c-nu/nu nude mice were randomly divided into three groups with 8 animals in every group: Matrigel and RPMI 1640 suspension (group M), RPMI 1640 culture medium (group R), PBS (group P). Human osteosarcoma cell-SaOS-2 was suspended in the three groups respectively. 1×106/ml equivalent cell counts were injected into the back of each anesthetized nude mouse (400 μl per mouse). Xenograft tumors were measured at regular intervals and the tumor volume was calculated. After 5 weeks of inoculation, the tumor parts were dissected. Paraffin-embedded sections from xenograft tumor tissues were fixed in 4 % paraformaldehyde and pathological study was made after paraffin embedding and cutting under microscope by HE stains. Results Eight nude mice formed tumor lumps at 0 day in group M and were gradually increased over time. Xenograft tumors of group R and group P disappeared in 2-4 days and some appeared again after 1 week with an increase of tumor size. After 5 weeks, the tumor volume in the group M was significantly larger than that in the group P and group R [(3 185 ± 488), (598 ± 189), (512 ± 109) mm3 respectively,F=85.7,P<0.001].After 5 weeks, tumor body was dissected. The tumor weight in the group M was significantly larger than that in the group P and group R[tumor weight:(2.22 ± 0.18),(1.48 ± 0.13),(1.47 ± 0.17) g respectively, F= 37.07, P< 0.001]. There was no difference between group R and group P in tumor volume and weight(P>0.05).Histopathological analysis showed that cells in the group M could keep original degrees of pathological differentiation in osteosarcoma cells. Besides, cells suspension of culture medium or PBS in the group P and group R were poorly differentiated. Conclusions Matrigel can promote high tumor growth rate and good uniformity of human osteosarcoma cells in experimental animals. The histological state is similar to original structure, which conforms to the occurrence and development of human osteosarcoma.

Objective:To investigate the correlation between acoustic radiation force impulse imaging(ARFI) and reserve function of liver and the feasibility of liver reserve function assessment by ARFI.Methods:According to the inclusion criteria, 74 patients were screened and 71 patients were finally enrolled from Henan Province People′s Hospital during June 2017 and June 2019. The portal vein diameter (D PV), spleen length (L SP) were measured by two-dimensional ultrasound. The liver shear wave velocity (LSWV) and spleen shear wave velocity (SSWV) were measured by ARFI. Serological markers were checked, and the indocyanine green (ICG)15-minute retention rate (ICG R15) was measured by excretion test. The patients were divided into ICG R15<10% group and ICG R15≥10% group, the difference of the measurements between two groups were calculated, the correlations of the measurements and ICG R15 were analyzed. LSWV diagnostic performance for liver reserve function was evaluated by the ROC curve. Results:There were significant differences in LSWV, D PV, SSWV, L SP, aspartate transaminase(AST), alkaline phosphatase(ALP), y-glutamyl transpeptidase(γ-GGT) and albumin (ALB) between ICG R15<10% group and ICG≥10% group( P<0.05), but no significant differences in other measurements( P>0.05). The correlations between ICG R15 and LSWV( r=0.673, P<0.001), D PV( r=0.355, P<0.05), SSWV( r=0.384, P<0.05), L SP( r=0.403, P<0.001), ALP( r s=0.245, P<0.05) and ALB( r s=-0.390, P<0.05) were statistically significant. The ROC curve showed high diagnostic performance for liver reserve function assessment by LSWV. The area under the ROC curve was 0.903 (95% CI=0.810-0.961, P<0.01), and the cut-off value was 2.15 m/s (sensitivity 84.6%, specificity 86.7%). Conclusions:The LSWV can evaluate the reserve function and it is a useful supplement to the ICG excretion experiment.
