Objective:To observe the effect of “One Coat Bond” on the interface between amalgam restoration and cavity wall used in bonded amalgam restoration(BAR).Methods:Dentin cavities were made on 15 healthy human premolars extracted for orthodontics therapy.The teeth were divided into 3 groups with 5 in each group.In group A compressive air was used to dry the cavities(dry adhesion) whereas in group B absorbent cotton was used (wet adhesion). Then the cavity walls in the two groups were treated with the “One Coat Bond”, the cavities were filled with freshly prepared amalgam before adhesive concrete.In group C cavities were filled directly with amalgam without treatment of cavity walls. Morphology of amalgam restoration/“One Coat Bond” adhesive/dentin cavity wall interface was observed under SEM, thickness of adhesive and width of space between amalgam restoration and cavity wall was measured. Results:Average width(?m) of space between restoration and cavity wall was 4.82 in group A, 0 in group B and 11.33 in group C(P0.05).Conclusion:“One Coat Bond” adhesive can significantly improve the compactness between amalgam and cavity wall.

BACKGROUND:Nano-size inorganic filling greatly improves mechanic characteristic of composite resin.However,its effects on pulp tissue remain unclear.OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the biocompatibility of FiltekTM Z350 nano-composite resin on dog pulp tissue by means of histology observation.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:Randomized control animal experiment was performed at the animal experiment center of Fuzhou General Hospital,Nanjing Military Area Command of Chinese PLA from April 2007 to April 2008.MATERIALS:Sixty healthy teeth from three adult male beagle dogs were recruited in this study.METHODS:Buccal Class V deep cavities were prepared in beagle dogs,which were then divided into four groups at random.FiltekTM Z350 resin,Dyract AP compomer and TPH resin were used to restore the cavities in three testing groups and glass ionomer cement was used as control.All cavities were treated with Clearfil SE BOND before filling.Intact healthy teeth were used as blank control.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The pulp condition of each tooth was studied histologically.The remaining dentine thickness of each cavity was measured.RESULTS:After 7 days,mild inflammatory response was observed in most of the specimens.After 30 and 90 days,normal histological characteristics were observed in almost all specimens except TPH resin group.The histological structure disturbance of dentin cell layer emerged in some specimens of TPH group,which was higher than other testing groups(P 0.05).CONCLUSION:FiltekTM Z350 nano-composite resin has similar biocompatibility as Dyract AP compomer and glass ionomer cement,better than TPH resin.

Objective To explore the dose-dependent and time-dependent effect of docetaxel on the expression of mammalian eukaryotic initiation factor 3 subunit A (eIF3a) in lung cancer cell line. Methods The human lung cancer cell line A549 was treated with gradient concentrations of docetaxel for different time. Real-time PCR and Western blot were used to detect mRNA and protein expression levels of eIF3a and α-tubulin, respectively. Results Docetaxel did not affect α-tubulin expression at either mRNA level or protein level. When A549 cells were treated with high concentration of docetaxel (30 μg/L), the expression level of eIF3a mRNA tended to increase in a time-dependent manner. Protein expression level of α-tubulin was not associated with eIF3a expression significantly in cells treated by docetaxel.Conclusion Docetaxel could slightly increase the expression of eIF3a mRNA, and eIF3a does not regulate the expression of α-tubulin in A549 cells treated by docetaxel.

Objective To explore the development of the anthrax research field in order to provide information and strategies for anti-bioterrorism in China.Methods Pajek, Vosviewer, Bibexcel running on Web of Knowledge platform, and Excel running on CSCD platform were used.Results According to the results of anthrax literature metrology,the USA is by far the leader in research while the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other in-stitutions are our main anthrax research institutions in China, but there is a gap between China and international research institutions.Conclusion We should strengthen anthrax research, improve the overall research strength, and provide the necessary protection to respond to potential bioterrorism incidents.

Objective To investigate the effect of nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) on insulin secretion and gene expressions of pancreatic and duodenal homeobox 1 ( PDX-1 ) and forkhead box-containing protein O-1 ( FoxO1 ),which were important transcription factors for insulin secretion.Methods Insulin secretion level in RIN-m5f cells was detected by rat insulin ELISA detection kit.The mRNA expression levels of PDX-1 and FoxO1 in RIN-m5f cells were analyzed by real-time PCR.The protein expression of PDX-1 was measured by Western blot.Results Insulin secretion levels in RIN-m5f cells treated with repaglinide ( 10 nmol/L) plus NMN ( 100 μnol/L) was significantly higher than those in the blank control,the DMSO control group,and the NMN (50μmol/L) treated group (P ＜0.05 ).The mRNA expression levels of PDX-1 in RIN-m5f cells treated with NMN ( 10,50 and 100 μmol/L) for 36 h were significantly higher than those in the control group (P ＜0.05,P ＜ 0.01,and P ＜ 0.001,respectively).There was marked differences in the mRNA expression levels of PDX-1 among different concentrations of NMN (P ＜0.001 ),but no significant differences in the mRNA expression level of FoxO1 ( P ＞ 0.05).No significant difference was found in the protein expression levels of PDX-1 in RIN-m5f cells treated by NMN (50,100,and 200 μmol/L) for 36 or 48 h compared with the control group (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusion NMN can stimulate insulin secretion and upregulate the mRNA expression of PDX-1 in RIN-m5f cells.

Objective: To detect the arthropathies on no bleeding history joints in pre-school hemophilia A children in order to provide evidence for further prevention and control of joint disease in children with hemophilia A. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study based on China Hemophilia Individualized prophylaxis study (CHIPS). The basic data of outpatients with hemophilia in Beijing Children's Hospital and Chengdu Women's and Children's Central Hospital between August 2016 and June 2017 were collected and a three-month follow-up was conducted. The target joints (six joints of bilateral elbows, knees and ankles) of thirty-four children aged 1-7 years old with severe hemophilia A were examined by ultrasound, X-ray and joint function examination (4-7 years old, hemophilia joint health score (HJHS)). To find out whether there are arthropathies in patient's joints with no bleeding history and analyze the relevant factors by chi-square test, rank sum test and other statistical methods. Results: There were 32 analyzable cases with 112 no-bleeding history target joints, 42.9% (48/112) were elbow joints. Arthropathies were revealed in 34.8% (39/112) of them by joint structural and functional examination and 46.2% (18/39) were ankles (χ²=8.379, P=0.015) . Ultrasound showed abnormalities in 18.3% (20/109) joints, X-ray showed abnormalities in 3.8% (3/79) joints and HJHS showed abnormalities in 25.3% (20/79) joints. There was no correlation between ultrasound and HJHS (r=0.015, P=0.895), no correlation was found between X-ray and HJHS (r=-0.101, P=0.390) either, which suggested that joint structural and functional examination could not replace each other. The related risk factors of arthropathies in this group were >4.91 years old (OR=3.917, 95%CI:1.610-9.528) and combining with target joint (OR=3.530, 95%CI:1.316-9.465). Conclusions Detecting the joint structure and function on no bleeding history joints in pre-school hemophilia A children could reveal the arthropathies and majority of them were ankle arthropathies. Joint structural and functional examinations could not replace each other. For patients more than 5 years old and those with target joints, the joints with no complaint of bleeding should be examined regularly to reveal the arthropathies in time.

Objective:To study the past 10 years' experiences of neonatal hydrocephalus in a single-center.Methods:From January 2010 to December 2019, clinical data of infants with hydrocephalus admitted to Neonatology Department of our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The infants were assigned into different groups according to gestational age, different etiologies and treatments. Their clinical characteristics and outcomes were compared.Results:A total of 223 infants with hydrocephalus were included. 136 (61.0%) infants were in the preterm group and 87 (39.0%) in the full-term group. The incidence of post-intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) hydrocephalus in preterm infants was significantly higher than full-term infants ( P<0.001). According to the etiologies, 58 infants (26.0%) had congenital hydrocephalus (congenital group), 82 cases (36.8%) developed post-ICH hydrocephalus (ICH group), 48 cases (21.5%) had post-CNS-infection hydrocephalus (infection group) and 35 cases (15.7%) had post-ICH+CNS-infection hydrocephalus (ICH+infection group). The incidences of perinatal asphyxia, neonatal resuscitation and endotracheal intubation within 3 d after birth in the ICH group were significantly higher than the other groups ( P<0.05). Among the four groups, the infection group had the highest incidence of neonatal sepsis, the congenital group had the highest incidence of patent ductus arteriosus and the ICH group had the highest incidence of respiratory diseases (all P<0.05).137 cases (61.4%) received non-surgical therapy, 48 cases (21.5%) had temporary drainage, 37 cases (16.6%) with permanent shunt and 1 case (0.4%) intracranial hematoma removal. The congenital group and ICH group with permanent shunt showed significantly higher rate of improvement than temporary drainage group and non-surgical group ( P<0.001). Conclusions:The main etiologies of neonatal hydrocephalus are ICH and CNS infection. The incidence of post-ICH hydrocephalus in premature infants was quite high. Hydrocephalus of different etiologies have different comorbidities. Maternal and infant care during pregnancy and delivery, prevention of neonatal sepsis and ICH are crucial in the prevention of hydrocephalus. More studies are needed for better treatment.

Objective: To determine the first dengue fever case in Taizhou and trace probable transmission sources. Methods: Collected serum of three patients for antigen, antibody and nucleic acid detection. Dengue viruses were isolated and cultured in C6/36 cell. The whole length of E gene was amplified by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) and then sequenced. The phylogenetic tree was drawn. Results: Three cases were positive in nucleic acid detection. Two cases were IgM positive. One case was NSI antigen postive. Three strains of type I dengue virus were isolated from samples. The phylogenetic trees shown that the three strains were on the same branch. The identities of nucleotide were 99.87%. The identities of amino acid were 99.6%-99.8%. Conclusions The dengue virus strains isolated in Taizhou was imported from Guangdong or Southeast Asia and caused location infection.

Objective:To analyze the fail mode of neoadjuvant therapy combined with surgery for locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) after long-term follow-up.Methods:Clinical data of consecutive 238 patients with locally advanced resectable ESCC who underwent neoadjuvant therapy combined with surgery in Zhejiang Cancer Hospital from September 2012 to October 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The failure mode in the whole cohort was analyzed after long-term follow-up. The overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS) rates were analyzed by Kaplan-Meier method. Survival differences were determined by log-rank test.Results:The pathological complete response (pCR) rate was 42.0% in 238 patients. After a median follow-up of 46.1 months, tumor progression occurred in 96 patients (40.3%), including 25 patients (10.5%) with local recurrence, 61 patients (25.6%) with distant metastases, and 10 patients (4.2%) with simultaneous local recurrence and distant metastases. The median OS and DFS were 64.7 months and 49.9 months. And the 3-, 5-, and 7-year OS and DFS rates were 70.0%, 52.8%, 36.4% and 63.5%, 42.5%, and 30.0%, respectively. The 3-, 5-, and 7-year locoregional recurrence-free survival rates and distant metastasis-free survival rates were 86.0%, 71.4%, 61.2% and 70.6%, 55.9%, 43.0%. Compared with non-pCR patients, the overall progression rate and distant metastasis rate of pCR patients were lower (26.0% vs. 50.7%, 16.0% vs. 32.6%, both P<0.05). And the 3-, 5-, and 7-year OS (83.0% vs. 60.2%, 69.7% vs. 41.7%, 50.4% vs. 27.7%, all P<0.001) and DFS rates (80.4% vs. 51.4%, 63.9% vs. 31.2%, 45.9% vs. 20.3%, all P<0.001) were significantly better in pCR patients. Conclusions:Distant metastasis is the main failure mode of patients with locally advanced ESCC after neoadjuvant therapy. Patients with postoperative pCR can achieve better long-term survival.
