Objective To assess the sanitary quality of finished water produced by seawater desalination plant.Methods Using reverse osmosis for seawater desalination,the microbiological indexes,the levels of chloride and the pH values of finished water after seawater desalination were determined and then were assessed based on the National Method for Determination of Drinking Water(GB 5750-1985).Results After seawater desalination,the level of fluoride in finished water was 426 mg/L,the total count of bacteria of 3 finished water samples among 9 samples exceeded the standedard(350,300,4016/L),the pH valuer were qualified on the whole,except one lower value of 5.74 and a higher value of 8.94.Conclusicn After the treatment by seawater desalination system,the level of residual chloride in finished water was higher which approached the related highest limit ruled by National Sanitary Standard for Drinking Water,the microbiological indexes and pH values of finished water were unstable.

Objective To observe CT findings of progressive muscular dystrophy(PMD)and to evaluate the diagnostic value of CT.Methods 100 healthy person were selected to measure the muscular density with CT including musculi of neck,back,waist,buttocks and legs,the density of musculi of back,waist,buttocks,and legs in 15 cases with PMD evaluated by comparative study.Results The arerage attenuation value of muscle in 100 healthy adults was 55 HU,while the musculi in the patients with PMD appeared atrophy,fatty degeneration and observable low CT attenuation value.Conclusion CT has important value in diagnosing PMD and help to guide the accurate localizations for biopsies.

Objective: To determine the contents of thromboxane (TXA_2) and prostacyclin (PGI_2) in optic nerves after acute intraocular hypertension injury so as to provide experimental data for the treatment of the clinical intraocular hypertension. Methods: A rabbit acute intraocular hypertension injury model was established by 90-min anterior chamber douche. Thirty adult rabbits were equally randomized into 5 groups: 4 intraocular hypertension injury groups (60 min, 90 min, 24 h and 48 h after intraocular tension normalization) and a normal control group. The eyes of all rabbits were removed and the homogenate of optic nerves was used to determine the contents of TXB_2 and 6-Keto-PGF_ 1?, and the metabolites of TXA_2 and PGI_ 2 by radioimmunoassay. Objective To establish the modified Ziehl-Neelsen acid -fast staining method and to investigate the value of modi-fied Ziehl-Neelsen acid-fast staining method of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid in the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis(TB)with negative sputum specimen.Methods 50 cases of negative sputum pulmonary TB were performed the bronchoalveolar lavage by the fiberoptic bronchoscope before the treatment,at the same time,the bronchoalveolar lavage fluids were collected and detected by the two methods of the traditional and modified Ziehl-Neelsen staining.The diagnostic positive rates were compared between the two groups.Results The positive rates of the two kinds of acid-fast staining method were 38% and 82% respectively,the difference showing statistical significance(P <0.05 ).Conclusion The modified Ziehl-Neelsen acid-fast staining of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid can highly improve the positive diagnostic rate of pulmonary TB patients with negative sputum and deserves to be clinically promoted.

Objective To investigate the NO and NOS activities of retina tissue after hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation in rabbit and the effects of taurine on them. Methods Twenty four New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: control group, shock and resuscitation (SR) group and taurine group. Chromatometry was used to detect the NOS activities. Results The ON content and NOS activities, either in retina tissue or in plasm, increased significantly 3 h after hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation (P

0.05)except that the tmax of the testing preparation was faster than that of the control drug.The relative bioavailability of the testing drug was(93.83?15.21)%.CONCLUSION:The AUC0～24,AUC0～∞and Cmax of 2 preparations are similar,but there is a significant difference in tmax.

Objective To evaluate the difference of clinical short-term effect and adverse reaction between paclitaxel liposome and paclitaxel in non-small cell lung cancer patients with lymph node metastasis after pulmonary resection.Methods Sixty-eight patients after pulmonary resection were divided into two groups by random digits table method,37 patients in experimental group with paclitaxel liposome (135mg/m2) combined with carboplatin (CBP) at 300 mg/m2 in chemotherapy,and 31 patients in control group with paclitaxel (135 mg/m2) combined with CBP at 300 mg/m2 in chemotherapy.Results All patients were evaluable.In experimental group,5 patients had complete remission,10 patients had partial remission,17patients were stable,5 patients' condition aggravated,the total effective rate was 40.5％(15/37),clinical control rate was 86.5％ (32/37).In control group,2 patients had complete remission,8 patients had partial remission,15 patients were stable,6 patients' condition aggravated,the total effective rote was 32.3％(10/31),clinical control rate was 80.6％(25/31).The treatment effectiveness in experimental group was significantly higher than that in control group (P ＜ 0.05).The main adverse reaction included marrow suppression,hair loss,muscle and joint pain and gastrointestinal symptom,there was no serious hypersensitivity.The rate of hypotension,face flushing,paresthesia,muscle and joint pain,erythra in experimental group was lower than that in control group [0 vs.9.7％ (3/31),5.4％ (2/37) vs.19.4％ (6/31),10.8％ (4/37) vs.22.6％ (7/31),13.5％ (5/37) vs.38.7％ (12/31),5.4％ (2/37) vs.25.8％ (8/31)] (P ＜0.0 1 or ＜0.05).Conclusion The curative effect rate of paclitaxel liposome is better than paclitaxel in patients with lymph node metastasis after pulmonary resection and with lower incidence of side effects.

Aim ToobservetheeffectofSanHuang Decoction (SHD )on glucose and lipid metabolism in insulin resistance(IR)3T3-L1 adipocytes.Methods TheIRmodelof3T3-L1adipocyteswasinducedby high glucose and hyperinsulinism cultivation(also con-taining dexamethasone ).The adipocytes were treated with rosiglitazone(Ros)and different concentrations of SHD(2. 5,5,10,20,40 g·L-1 )for 24 h.The content of glucose disappeared from the culture medium was determined as glucose consumption of the cells. The transport of glucose was observed by 2-deoxidation-[3 H]-glucose uptake method.The efflux of nonesteri-fied fatty acids(NEFA)from adipocytes was observed by the concentration of NEFA in the culture medium. The mRNA expression of glucose transporter-4 (GLUT-4)was measured by real-time polymerase chain reac-tion (real-time PCR).The protein expression of GLUT-4wasdetectedbyWesternblot.Results Compared with the Con group,SHD(5,10,20,40 g·L-1 ) could significantly induce the glucose consumption and transportion(P<0. 01 ),increase the glycerol content in culture supernatant(P<0. 01 ),reduce the NEFA concentration in culture medium and accumulation of intracellular TG(P<0. 01 ).And all of these change showed a concentration-dependent effect when SFD concentrations were from 5 g·L-1 to 20 g·L-1 .At the same time,Ros could also remarkably induce the glucose consumption and transportion(P<0. 01 ),and increase the accumulation of intracellular TG (P <0. 01);but the concentration of NEFA and glycerol in culture medium did not show any difference in the Ros-treatedgroup(P>0.05).Conclusion SHDcanin-crease insulin sensitivity by increasing glucose trans-portation and consumption in the 3T3-L1 adipocytes as well as decreasing the NEFA efflux from the cells.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the distribution of bacteria in general ICU then discuss the susceptible factors and the treatment.METHODS A retrospective analysis of clinical information was performed on 123 patients diagnosed infection who stayed in ICU from May 2002 to May 2004.RESULTS Most of bacteria resulted in infection of general ICU were Gram-negative(62.88%) and then Gram-positive(19.65%). Fungal infection accounted for 17.47%.Pseudomonas aeruginosa occupied the highest percentage among Gram-negative bacteria.Most of Gram-positive bacteria were Staphylococcus aureus and all of them were MRS.The infection site in ICU focused on lower respiratory tract(89.09%).The second was urinary tract(11.79%).CONCLUSIONS Most of the bacteria causing infection in general ICU locate in respiratory tract.They are mainly Gram-negative.All of the Gram-positive bacteria are MRS.The risk factors of hospital-acquired infection are related with patient′s age,underlying disease,intensive care time,ventilation time and invasive operation.

Objective To identify new microsatellite loci from genome sequence database for the study of poly-morphicsm of Schistosoma japonicum. Methods Schistosoma japonicum isolates were obtained from seven endemic sites in China: Tongling and Guichi counties of Anhui Province, Duchang county of Jiangxi Province, Changde and Yueyang Cities of Hunan Province, Shashi City of Hubei Province, Xichang City of Sichuan Province. In order to study the genetic variance, genomic DNAs of 96 individual adult worms were screened against 17 new Schistosoma japonicum microsatellites and the raw data were analyzed by GenMapper 4.0. Furthermore, the varieties of alleles were inverstigated using GenAlEx 6 and genetic distances within a subpopulation (GenClone) and among populations(UPGMA, MEGA 3.1) were analyzed. Results High levels of polymorphism were found between and within population samples, and significant genetic diversity was observed among the seven subpopulations.Within Jiangxi population, most genetic distances (17 loci) among samples range from 25 to 32, indicating a significant genetic diversity. There are three clusters among the seven populations: Jiangxi, Tonglin, Shashi and Changde population, with the genetics distances ranging from 0.017 8 to 0.036 3; Guichi and Yueyang population belong to another cluster, with the genetic distance of 0.024 7; However, Xichang population is an unique group. Its genetic distances to other populations are notable with a range from 0.019 2 to 0.069 3. Conclusion The 17 new polymorphic microsatellites identified may be used as suitable markers for the study on population genetics of Schistosoma japonicum and the genetic variance of the worms seems to be complicated.
