Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1987;0(02):-
The scavenging effects of Total Flavonoids of Hippophae ( TFH ) were studied by using ESR-spin trapping technique in different systems, and the inhibitery effects on chemiluminescence ( CL ) of poly-morphonuclear leukocytes ( PMN) were measured by using luminol-de-pendent CL. TFH ( 1.7mg/L ) significantly reduced the active oxygen radicals level of PMA-stimulated PMN; TFH ( 0.03-3mg/L ) could remarkably scavenged O2 in xanthine/xanthine oxidase (Xan/XO)system and the effect was concentration-dependent. The scavenging effect of TFH on O2 in irradiation riboflavin system was not so strong as in Xan/XO system. TFH ( 3 mg/L ) could scavenged OH produced in Fenton's reaction; TFH ( 1 mg/L ) effectively inhibited PMN CL stimulated by PMA.The effects of TFH on active oxygen radicals produced by PMN and O2 in Xan/XO system were stronger than Vit E.

Objective We have revised the Sunnybrook facial nerve grading system which has been widely recog?nized in the world to a Chinese version and verified its credibility and validity. Methods First we translated and edited the Sunnybrook facial nerve grading system using Chinese.Nine doctors, who were selected from different hospitals, then scored twice on the same video of 90 patients with facial nerve palsy using the Chinese version of the Sunnybrook facial nerve grading system and grading standard separately at one month interval. The consistency and the repeatability of the Chinese version of the Sunnybrook facial nerve grading system were evaluated. Results The Cronbach 's alpha value was 0.92 and the average coefficient of repeatability (CR) was 12.72, indicating that the Chinese version of the Sunny?brook facial nerve grading system had a high degree of internal consistency and repeatability. The ICC values on the as?sessment and evaluation for the internal measurement were 0.97 and 0.98, respectively. The scored results were compara?ble between doctors who were not familiar with this disease and those who were very familiar with the disease. The aver?age ICC was 0.97(95%CI:0.95~0.99). Conclusions The Sunnybrook facial nerve grading system has good reliability and consistency and hereby recommend Chinese doctors to use it.

Objective:This article discusses the status of the health behaviors of rural people with diabetes, to explore effect of doctors’ home-visiting on the behavior of patients with diabetes in rural areas, and to promote chronic disease management and public health service equalization in rural areas . Methods:Junan, Liangshan, and Pingyin counties in Shandong province were sampled using a multi-stage stratified sampling method, and data was collected from 401 questionnaires issued to people with diabetes. A chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression were used to analyze the determinants. Results:Only 52. 0% of diabetes patients received home-visiting from doctors in the surveyed rural areas. Doctors’ visiting works on medication behavior on time and appropriate exercise of patients with diabetes in rural areas was statistically significant, but did not work on measuring blood glucose and periodic review and other health-related behaviors. Conclusion:The rate of doctor home-visiting is low, and the effect is not obvious. More attention should be paid to the content and quality of doctors’ home visiting, and strong policies should support and guide it. According to the characteristics of the rural and patients behavior changing, it is necessary to take flexi-ble modes of health service, improve the diabetes management in rural areas, and promote the equalization of public health service.

Objective To study the characteristics of the hand motor cortex in ataxia patients during active and passive finger-to-thumb opposition movements using bold oxygenation level dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging (BOLD-fMRI). Methods Ten right-handed healthy volunteers and 16 ataxia patients with motor cortex lesions were selected, and whole-brain BOLD-fMRI examinations were made while the subjects were performing the active and passive movements. Activated volume and intensity were recorded from the corresponding motor cortex and analyzed quantitatively. Meanwhile, the patients' coordination was evaluated using the international cooperative ataxia rating scale (ICARS). Results During passive movement of the ataxia patient's affected hands, the ipsilateral supplementary motor area (SMA) activated volume was larger than that during normal ipsilateral hand movement, and the activation intensity was also higher than that in the healthy controls. The ipsilateral cerebellum activated volume and intensity were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the frequency of appearance of the cerebellum was also less. The patients' activated volume and intensity in the ipsilateral cerebellum showed no correlation with ICARS scores. Conclusions When the ataxia patients' affected side cerebellum was dysfunctional, the ipsilateral SMA could compensate for the weak cerebellum function. The ICARS does not reflect cerebellum function.

Aim To study the effect and molecular mechanism of pretreatment with COPP on hypoxia/reoxygenation injury of H9c2 myocytes. Methods H9c2 myocytes model of hypoxia/reoxygenation injury was established and H9c2 myocytes were given COPP pretreatment before hypoxia/reoxygenation.Treatment with Znpp and all-trans retinoic acid(ATRA)inhibited HO-1 and Nrf2-ARE respectively. The level of LDH and CK in cell supernatants were measured.HO-1mRNA expression was analyzed by RT-PCR.HO-1 and Nrf2 protein expressions were analyzed by Western blot. Results Compared with hypoxia/reoxygenation group, the level of LDH and CK in COPP pretreatment groups decreased significantly and the level of HO-1mRNA,HO-1 protein expression and Nrf2 protein expression in the nucleus significantly increased.Znpp abolished protective effect of COPP pretreatment.ATRA blocked the nuclear accumulation of Nrf2 and decreased HO-1 protein expression that COPP pretreatment induced. Conclusions COPP can induce HO-1 overexpression which has protective effect on hypoxia/reoxygenation injury of H9c2 myocytes. Its mechanism is related to Nrf2-ARE signaling pathway.

Purpose To investigate the second generation dual source CT low tube voltage (100 kV) combined with sonogram-affirmed iterative reconstruction (SAFIRE) in assessing coronary artery stents. Materials and Methods One hundred and fifty-six patients underwent CT coronary angiography after implanted coronary artery stents. Among all the patients, 86 cases were performed with 100 kV combined with SAFIRE, and 70 cases with 120 kV combined with filtered back projection reconstruction (FBP). Mean CT values, image noise, SNR, SAIR, image quality scores, stents detecting and radiation dose of aortic root, inner-stent, and the coronary artery proximal to the stent were compared. Results The mean CT value of aortic root, inner-stent, and the coronary artery proximal to the stent of 100 kV group was higher than that of 120 kV group (t=2.75, 11.77 and 3.19, P<0.05), while image noise and SAIR of 100 kV group were lower than those of 120 kV group (t=-2.53 and -9.51, P<0.05). SNR of aortic root, inner-stent, and the coronary artery proximal to the stent was not statistically different between the two groups (t= -1.34, -0.95 and 1.67, P>0.05). There was no statistic difference of image quality score between the two groups (t= -0.203, P>0.05). Totally there were 243 stents detected, including 67 of right coronary artery, 123 of left anterior descending, 36 of left circumflex, and 17 of other branches. Stent length ranged 3.8 to 98.7 mm and averaged (27.5±16.4) mm. The CTDIvol, DLP and ED of 100 kV group were lower than those of 120 kV group (t= -11.03, -9.41 and -9.41, P<0.05). The effective dosage reduced about 51.5% in 100 kV group when compared with that of 120 kV group. Conclusion The second generation dual source CT low tube voltage (100 kV) combined with SAFIRE in assessing coronary artery stent could meet the diagnostic requirement and reduce the radiation dosage, without increasing image noise and beam hardening artifacts.
