1.Application of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for Neuropathic Pain (review)
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2016;22(7):809-812
Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) may release neuropathic pain (NeP) by changing the excitability of cor-tex, improving the cerebral blood flow, regulating the expression of neurotransmitter, fitting the plasticity, reducing the overexpression of neuronal nitric oxide synthase and overaction of astrocyte, etc. It is used for management of post-herpetic neuralgia, thalamic pain after stroke, NeP after spinal cord injury, phantom limb pain, atypical facial pain post operation of trigeminal nerve, etc. The outcome is associat-ed with the location, frequency, pulses, intensity of stimulation, as well as the shape of the stimulator, etc.

Objective To investigate the role of integrin-linked kinase (ILK) on migration and invasion of lung cancer cell by upregulating matrix metalloproteinase-9 through nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) pathway. Methods A549 cell line were overexpressed ILK and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) confirmed by cell transfection,siRNA interference, cell scratch test,real-time quantitative PCR and Western Blot. Results Over-expression of ILK stimulated MMP-9 expression in lung cancer cells(P < 0.01).The addition of MMP-9 inhibitor doxycycline and anti-MMP-9 neutralizing antibody significantly impaired the wound healing capacity of ILK-transfected cells(P < 0.01),as well as by in vitro matrigel invasion assay (P < 0.01).In addition, overexpression ILK induced phosphorylation and nuclear translocation of nuclear factor-κB subunit p65.Upregulation of MMP-9 was severely abolished by either BAY 11-7028,a specific NF-κB inhibitor,or siRNA targeted to NF-κB p65 in ILK over-expression cells. Conclusion The finding indicate that over-expression of ILK can promote the migration and invasion of lung cancer cell, and upregulate MMP-9 through the NF-κB pathway.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2010;8(2):116-118
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of combined acupuncture and psychological desensitization therapy for anxiety in those with heroin addiction. Methods:All 90 cases were randomly allocated into a treatment group (45 cases) and a control group (45 cases).Cases in the treatment group received 30 min of combined acupuncture and psychological desensitization therapy for each treatment, twice a week and 8 weeks in total, whereas cases in the control group received no treatment. After that, the anxiety score and state were observed. In addition, the mental state prior to and after cue-elicited heroin craving was evaluated. Results:The total and standard scores of anxiety in the treatment group were significantly reduced compared to the control group (P<0.05),coupled with a significant reduction of heroin craving (P<0.01).Conclusion:Combined acupuncture and psychological desensitization can alleviate anxiety and inhibit the short-term heroin craving.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the effect of early scream sound stress on the ability of spatial learning and memory, the levels of norepinephrine (NE) and corticosterone (CORT) in serum, and the morphology of adrenal gland.
METHODS:
Female Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were treated daily with scream sound from postnatal day 1(P1) for 21 d. Morris water maze was used to measure the spatial learning and memory ability. The levels of serum NE and CORT were determined by radioimmunoassay. Adrenal gland of SD rats was collected and fixed in formalin, and then embedded with paraffin. The morphology of adrenal gland was observed by HE staining.
RESULTS:
Exposure to early scream sound decreased latency of escape and increased times to cross the platform in Morris water maze test (P<0.05). The levels of serum NE was significantly elevated, with an obvious tendency in the increase of CORT level (P<0.05). The morphology of adrenal gland was also influenced.
CONCLUSION
Newborn female rats subjected to scream sound stress can enhance spatial learning and memory ability in adulthood, which is related to activation of the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal axis and sympathetic nervous system.
