Objective To evaluate the clinical value of application of supracondylar locked intramedullary nail under arthroscope for supracondylar femoral fractures. Methods Sixteen patients with supracondylar femoral fracture were treated by supracondylar locked intramedullary nail. After mini-incision open reductions were completed, the nails were inserted retrogradely into femoral intercondylar notch under arthroscope. Results Bony union was obtained in all the patients within 3 months. Follow-up for 6~18 months showed ranges of motion (ROM) of their knee joints were 110?or above. Conclusions Application of this nail for supracondylar femoral fracture is characterized by mini-invasion, reliability and rapid recovery. There is no need for traditional open operations on the knee joint, and no need for external fixation.

Objective To introduce a new technique of treating tibial spinal fractures in children under arthroscope, and to assess its clinical outcomes. Methods From February 2001 to July 2003, 6 child patients with tibial spinal fracture were treated arthroscopically. The reduction and fixation were completed under the arthroscope. The wire was linked with the suture outside the joint, and then was pulled into the joint to fix the fracture fragment through the fundus of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Results The patients were followed up for 6 to 20 months. All the fractures healed without displacement 4 weeks after operation. 3 months postoperatively, the motion range of the knee returned to normal, and no knee instability was observed. The results of ADT (anterior drawer test) and Lachmanns sign were negative. Conclusion This technique is the first choice in treatment of tibial spinal fracture in children, because it facilitates the diagnosis and treatment of complicated knee problems and provides accurate reduction and reliable fixation. Besides, it is minimally invasive, simple and convenient.

In present study, animal model of cardiac hypertrophy induced by abdominal aortic stenosis was utilized, and the lysosomes were investigated by electron microscopy and ultrastructural cytochemistry. The results showed that while cardiac hypertrophy developed, lysosomes participate in apparent remolding of cardiac muscle cells; in the late stage of cardiac hypertrophy, a great deal of autophagocytoses were viewed in some muscle cells which may result in irreversible cell damage.

AIM: To investigate the effect of insulin on ox-LDL transferring the THP-1 cells to foam cells and influencing the LPL mRNA expression in THP-1 cells. METHODS: THP-1 cells were incubated with 50 mg/L ox-LDL and insulin at concentrations of 10 mU/L,100 mU/L,1 000 mU/L and 10 000 mU/L, respectively. The expression of LPL mRNA in cells was detected by RT-PCR. Lipoprotein lipase of THP-1 cells was presented by no-specific lipase staining. THP-1 cells were stained with oil red O. Accumulation of total cholesterol (TC) in THP-1 cells was determined with oxidase assay. RESULTS: In 100 mU/L?1 000 mU/L?10 000 mU/L insulin groups, LPL mRNA expression increased 2 times, the average cell perilength was longer, the percentage of positive oil red O staining cells was significant higher, the content of cholesterol in THP-1 cells was higher than in ox-LDL control ( P

AIM: To investigate the effect of tea-polyphe nols (TP) on the activation of NF-?B and the expression of TGF-? 1 mRNA in TH P -1 cells (a human acute monocytic leukemia cell line). METHODS: TH P-1 cells were incubated with the different concentrations of TP, VLDL, LDL or o x-LDL. In the THP-1 cellls, the nuclear malposition rate of NF-?B was detected with immunohistochemistry technique, the positive index of the TGF-? 1 mRNA ex p ression was detected by hybridization in situ, and accumulation of total cholest erol (TC) in cells incubated with 0 4-40 ?g/L TP was determined with oxidase a ssay. RESULTS: The nuclear malposition rate of NF-?B, the posit ive index of the TGF-? 1 mRNA expression and TC in THP-1 cells incubated with 0 4-40 ?g/L of TP were lower than those with 0 ?g/L of TP in TP-V group, TP-L group and TP-O ( P 0.05). CONCLUSION: TP inhibited the activation of NF-?B, the expressio n of TGF-? 1 mRNA and the foam cell formation in the mono-macrophage.

Objective To detect the changes of G protein-coupled inwardly rectifying potassium channels (GIRK)expression in allergic asthma model and identify the regulatory factors. Methods The E3 rat asthma models were induced by challenge with ovalbumin 14 days after immunization with ovalbumin and aluminium adjuvant. The asthma models were evaluated based on changes in lung pathomorphology and total IgE levels. The levels of GIRK1-4 mRNA and protein were detected using real time-PCR and Western blot. The anatomic sites where GIRK was expressed dominantly in the lung were identified using immunohistological staining. To identify the effects of IL-4 on the expressions of GIRK channels,GIRK 1 -4 mRNA and protein in IL-4 stimulated bronchial epithelial cell line A549 were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot. Results The levels of GIRK1-4 mRNA and protein decreased significantly in the lung in asthmatic E3 rats. The results of immunohistological staining showed that GIRK channels were dominantly expressed in airway epithelia in the lung. The levels of GIRK 1-4 mRNA and protein were down-regulated in time-and dose-dependent manners in IL-4 treated A549.Conclusion IL-4 down-regulates the expression levels of GIRK subunits in bronchial epithelia during allergic asthma.

Objective To understand the current situation of pressure steam sterilization in medical institutions in Xi'an city, and provide reference for the monitoring and quality control of pressure steam sterilization. Methods Central sterile supply departments(CSSDs) in medical institutions in Xi'an in 2012-2014 were investigated.Physical, chemical, and biological monitoring methods were used to evaluate the pressure steam sterilizers. Results A total of 135 medical institutions in Xi' an were monitored, including 40 tertiary medical institutions and 95 secondary and below medical institutions.A total of 540 specimens were collected,454 were qualified, overall qualified rate was 84.07 %.Qualified rate of monitoring result of pressure steam sterilization of tertiary medical institutions was higher than secondary and below medical institutions(93.13 % vs 80.26 %,x2 =13.91,P<0.01).Qualified rates of chemical PCD and biological test pack of tertiary as well as secondary and below medical institutions were 100% and >90% respectively. The qualified rate of recoded temperature in secondary and below medical institutions was 88.42 %,but actually measured temperature was 38.95 %,which was significantly lower than 72.50 % of tertiary medical institutions(x2 =12.68,P<0.01).The rates of the measured temperature> 134℃ of pressure steam sterilizer in each year were all low,but measured temperature<132℃ was about 50.00 %,difference between actually measured temperature and recorded temperature was-4℃-1 ℃,difference between-2.5 ℃-0.5℃ accounted for 80.00%,the main unqualified temperature was 130℃-131 ℃,accounting for 82.61 %.Conclusion Efficacy of pressure steam sterilization is different in different levels of medical institutions in Xi'an,physical monitoring measures are not standardized, the supervision of physical parameters in key sectors should be strengthened to ensure the sterilization quality of medical institutions and reduce the occurrence of iatrogenic infection.
