Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2014;34(4):474-476
Objective To evaluate the effects of curcumin on matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9)/tissure inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) balance during limb ischemia-reperfusion (I/R)-induced lung injury in rats. Methods Twenty-four adult male Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 6-8 months, weighing 250-300 g,were randomly divided into 3 groups (n =8 each) using a random number table:sham operation group (group S) ; group I/R; curcumin + I/R group (group C + I/R).Limb ischemia was induced by occlusion of bilateral femoral arteries for 2 h followed by reperfusion for 3 h in I/R and C + I/R groups. At 2 h before ischemia, curcumin 200 mg/kg was injected intraperitoneally in group C + I/R,while the equal volume of normal saline was given instead in the other groups.Arterial blood samples were taken at 3 h of reperfusion for blood gas analysis and PaO2 was recorded. The animals were then sacrificed and the lungs were removed immediately for determination of wet/dry lung weight (W/D) ratio, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity and MMP-9 and TIMP-1 contents. The ratio of MMP-9/ TIMP-1 was calculated. Results Compared with group S,PaO2 was significantly decreased, and W/D ratio,MPO activity,MMP-9 content and the ratio of MMP-9/TIMP-1 were significantly increased (P < 0.05),while no significant change was found in TIMP-1 content in group I/R (P > 0.05).Compared with group I/R,PaO2 and TIMP-1 content were significantly increased, and W/D ratio,MPO activity,MMP-9 content and the ratio of MMP-9/TIMP-1 were significantly decreased in group C + I/R (P < 0.05).Conclusion The mechanism by which curcumin attenuates lung injury induced by limb I/R is related to decreased MMP-9 content, elevated TIMP-1 content and regulated balance between MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in the lung tissues of rats.
2.Analysis of basal cell adenoma of the parotid gland: nine cases report.
Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2014;28(14):1040-1043
OBJECTIVE:
To improve recognization of clinical, imaging and pathological characteristics of basal cell adenoma (BCA) of parotid gland.
METHOD:
We collected and analyzed the data of the clinical manifestation, imaging features, histological and immunohistochemical characteristics of BCA of parotid gland (n = 9).
RESULTS:
Among 9 patients, 2 male, 7 female, and the average age was 55.2 (from 34 to 66 years). The clinical manifestation showed the painless mass in the parotid region. Seven cases underwent CT and other 2 cases underwent MRI. Imaging showed all tumors were located in the superficial lobe, roughly spherical and non-lobulated in shape, with well-defined boundary. The maximal diameter was less than 30 mm. Seven cases showed slightly high density shadow of soft tissue on plain CT. Compared with the parotid signal intensity, two cases showed hypointensity on T1WI and high signal on T2WI. All lesions showed obvious enhancement on delayed contrast CT or MRI. Cystic changes occurred in two cases. Gross observation: the tumors were solid in section, grey, medium in nature and clear with the surrounding tissues. Cystic changes occurred in the superficial region of superficial lobe of two cases. The capsule of tumor was well circumscribed in 8 cases and focally involved in another case. Microscopy: The parenchyma of BCA was mainly composed of basaloid cells, with myoepithelial cells palisading at the periphery of the epithelial nests. Basal membrane separated the parenchyma from the stromal, the latter lacking the myxochondroid matrix. Immunohistochemistry: basaloid cells were positive for CKpan, CD117 and CKL, while myoepithelial cells were positive for P63, SMA, and calponin. The Ki-67 lablel ing index of tumour cell was 0-4%. All patients performed superficial lobe parotidectomy and tumor dissection, and they recovered well postoperatively without tumor recurrence or malignancy.
CONCLUSION
The BCA of parotid gland has distinctive imaging and pathological features with favourable postoperative prognosis.

Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2015;(2):38-41
Objective To study the automatic word segmentation scheme suitable for traditional Chinese medical record literature. Methods Hierarchical Hidden Markov Model was used as segmentation model. Totally 300 ancient medical record literature and 300 modern medical record literature were set as experimental subjects to establish the dictionary of traditional Chinese medicine and the test corpus, with a purpose to segment the words and evaluate of the results. Results Without using dictionary of traditional Chinese medicine, the word segmentation accuracy of two kinds of medical record literature was about 75%;the part-of-speech tagging accuracy of ancient medical literature was 56.74%, the modern medical literature accuracy was 64.81%. By using dictionary of tradition Chinese medicine, the word segmentation accuracy of ancient medical record literature was 90.73%, the modern medical record literature accuracy was 95.66%;the part-of-speech tagging accuracy of ancient medical record literature was 78.47%, the modern medical record literature accuracy was 91.45%, which was obviously higher than that of ancient medical record literature. Conclusion The current word segmentation scheme has initially solved the problem of word segmentation of traditional Chinese medical record literature and part-of-speech tagging of modern medical record literature. Part of speech tagging is basically correct, but part-of-speech tagging of ancient medical record literature tagging needs further study for many influencing factors.

Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry 2009;37(7):1057-1060
The electrochemical behaviors of parathion(PT) on nano-Al2O3 film modified electrode(nano-Al2O3/GCE/CME) were investigated. It was found that the redox peak currents of PT remarkably increased and the oxidation peak potential negatively shifted at the nano-Al2O3/GCE/CME. All the experimental parameters were optimized and a simple and sensitive electroanalytical method was developed for the determination of PT. The oxidation peak current was linear with the concentration of PT over the range from 2.5×10-9 to 1.0×10-7 mol/L and 1.0×10-7 to 1.0×10-5 mol/L. A low detection limit of 1.0×10-9 mol/L was obtained for 30 s accumulation at open circuit(S/N=3). The relative standard deviation(n=10) was 3.8% for 1×10-5 mol/L PT. The proposed method was used for the quantitative analysis of PT in some vegetables and the results were satisfactory.

Forty-eight male Wistar rats, weighing 280 to 320 g,were selected and prepared by fasting but free drinking for 12 hours before the experiment. They were randomly divided into four groups by random number table (12 rats in each group):control group, ischemic group, reperfusion group and propofol group.Control group:normal saline infusion[10 ml /(kg?h)]for 1 h in caudal vein without any other treatment.Ischemic group:on the basis of control group, supply with 20 mmHg(1 mmHg =0.133 kPa)pneumoperitoneum pressure for 1 h. Reperfusion group:on the basis of ischemic group, keep pneumoperitoneum pressure open for 30 min.Propo-fol group:infusion propofol in caudal vein [10 ml /(kg?h),saline 10-fold dilution],given 20 mmHg pneu-moperitoneum pressure for 1 h,then kept this pressure open for 30 min.The expression changes of blood urea nitrogen(BUN),creatinine(Cr),superoxide dismutase(SOD),malondialdehyde(MDA)and nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(Nrf2)were detected individually. Results The levels of BUN,Cr and MDA gradually increased, while the level of SOD decreased in control group, ischemic group and reperfusion group (P ﹤0.05,respectively).Compared with ischemic group and reperfusion group, the levels of BUN,Cr and MDA decreased significantly, and the level of SOD increased markedly in propofol group(P ﹤0.05,respectively). The expression of Nrf2 protein and mRNA gradually increased in the control group, ischemia group,reperfu-sion group and propofol group (P ﹤0.05).Conclusion Carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum can cause renal IRI in rats.Propofol has a protective effect of IRI by regulating the expression of Nrf2 protein.
