Objective To study the relationship between CA125 and endometriosis.Methods We tested the level of CA125 in serum and fluid of ovarian cysts of patients with endometriosis and non-endometriosis,respectively.Results The mean CA125 concentration in the fluid of endometrial cysts of the ovary(ECO) was remarkably higher than that of the serum in ECO group(P0.05).Conclusion The level of CA125 has bearing on the occurrence,development and prognosis of endometriosis,CA125 level is positively correlated with the severity of the disease.Therefore,it is valuable to test serum CA125 level for diagnosing endometriosis.

Objective To study clinical value of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) score to evaluate prognosis for patients with liver failure. Methods A total of 189 patients with liver failure were recruited into the study, 125 deaths and 64 survivals. Their vital sign, platelets count (PLT), prothrombin time (PT) and international normalized ratio of PT (INRPT), fraction of inhaled oxygen (FiO2), arterial oxygen partial pressure (PaO2), serum levels of total bilirubin (TB), albumin (ALB), creatinine (Cr), pressure-adjusted heart rate (PAHR), glasgow coma score (GCS), degree of aacitic fluid (DAF) and stage of hepatic encephalopathy (SHE) were evaluated within 24 hours after admission. Each of the patients scored according to the criteria of MODS score, Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) score and model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score. Difference in MODS score between death and survival groups was compared and accuracy of prognosis of MODS score, CTP score and MELD score were evaluated by the area under receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Survival time of patients in the two groups classified by their MODS scores was compared with Kaplan-Meier (K-M) survival curve. Results There was significant difference in PT, INRPT, PaO2, Cr, GCS, SHE between death and survival groups, but there was no difference in TB, ALB, PLT, FiO2, PHAR and DAF between them. Mean score of MODS in death group (9±2) was significantly higher than that in survival group (7±1) (t=9.076, P<0.01). The area under ROC curve (AUC) of MODS score (0.814) was close to that of MELD score (0.827), but higher than that of CTP score (0.714). There was significant difference in survival time between the varied groups classified by MODS score (χ2=72.451, P<0.01). Conclusions Clinical value of MODS score is equivalent to that of MELD score in evaluating prognosis for patients with liver failure, even better than that of CTP score, which can be used to evaluate short-term prognosis for patients with liver failure.

Objective To study the gait characteristics of spastic diplegia cerebral palsy children. Methods The gaits of 26 spastic diplegia cerebral palsy children were analyzed. Results and Conclusion There were significant differences between spastic diplegia cerebral palsy children and 20 healthy subjects in both temporal-spatial parameters (stride time, stride length, stance time (%), cadence, speed) and kinematic parameters (the joint angle of hip, knee, ankle occurring at heel-contact, toe-off, the maximal extension in stand phase, maximal flexion in swing phase and total excursion on sagittal plane).

and each of the resistant strains was resistant at least to 5 antibiotics.13 strains out of the 28 harbored plasmids ranging from 1 to 6 in number and 105 Md to 2.7 Md in molecular weight.The plasmid with 50 Md was the most popular one in this study,which may be the epidemic plasmid in the urologic unit.It was also found that 2 different species of bacteria isloated from the patients with infection of the urinary tract showed identical plasmid profile,which indicates that these 2 patients may be associated with each other.

Objective To investigate the early diagnosis and importance of cesarean section in time.Methods Three cases of AFLP treated in our hospital during the past three years were retrospectively studied with emphasis on symptoms,laboratory findings,maternal complications and the action of well-timed cesarean section.Clinical diagnose was proved by postpartum liver biopsy or autopsy.Results The gestational age at onset of the three multiparae was 35～36 weeks.In the early stage,all cases had malaise,nausea,vomit,loss of appetite and epigastric distress followed by jaundice.Laboratory findings included raised transaminases (≤300IU/L)and total serum bilirubin levels.Neither B ultrasonic nor CT examine found fatty liver.Two of them were received cesarean section after obvious complication,and one died with her baby,the other pulled through MSOF,whose twins died of seriously asphyxia.While the third received cesarean section at early stage and was cured with a healthy baby.Conclusion Increasing awarenessespecially in early piagnosis of AFLP cases and termination pregnancy in time,the prognosis of AFLP is obviously improved.

BACKGROUND:Cerebral ischemia tolerance can promote proliferation of autologous neural stem cells in the hippocampus of cerebral infarction rats, but panaxtrial saponins effects on the proliferation of autologous neural stem cells in the brain have not been reported. OBJECTIVE:To explore the relationship of panaxtrial saponins, ischemic preconditioning and proliferation of endogenous neural stem cells in the hippocampus of rats at 7 days after cerebral infarction, and to observe the effect on neurobehavioral scores of rats after cerebral infarction. METHODS:Fifty Sprague-Dawley rats were included and randomly divided into five groups:sham group, ischemia group, ischemic control group, ischemic preconditioning group, and panaxtrial saponins group. In the latter four groups, acute models of cerebral infarction were established using Zea-Longa method. In the sham group, only an incision was made on the neck. The focal-focal ischemic tolerance models were established with twice suture method in the ischemic preconditioning and panaxtrial saponins groups. Sham operation was instead of ischemic preconditioning in the ischemic control group. In the panaxtrial saponins group, rats were given intraperitoneal injection of 100 mg/kg panaxtrial saponins at 7 days before modeling. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After 7 days of cerebral infarction, the neurobehavioral score and the number of neural stem cells in the hippocampus were significantly increased in the ischemia group (P<0.01);compared with the ischemia group, the neurobehavioral scores were lowered in the ischemic preconditioning and panaxtrial saponins groups (P<0.01), while the number of neural stem cells in the hippocampus was increased (P<0.01). However, there was no difference between the ischemic preconditioning and panaxtrial saponins groups (P>0.05). In addition, differences in the neurobehavioral scores and the number of neural stem cells in the hippocampus were insignificant between the ischemic control group and ischemia group (P>0.05). These findings indicate that panaxtrial saponins can play a role similar to ischemic tolerance, and thus improve neurologic impairment in rats with cerebral infarction.

Objective To investigate the effect of brain ischemic preconditioning (IP) combined with traditional Chinese medicine three seven three alcohol saponin (PTS) on proliferation of endogenous neural stem cells and the mRNA expressions of delta opioid receptor (DOR),Bax,Bcl-2 in hippocampus at 7d post middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO).Methods The focal-focal ischemic tolerance models were established with twice suture method.80 SD rats were included and randomly divided into 5 groups:sham group,MCAO group,sham+ MCAO group,IP+ MCAO group,PTS+MCAO group (n=16 each).We chose 10 SD rats from each group to evaluate their neurological status,and made BrdU fluorescent immunolabeling.In addition,we chose the other 6 SD rats to detect the expression levels of DOR,Bax and Bcl-2 mRNA in ischemic region in hippocampusby using RT-PCR.Animals were given one set of BrdU injections (on day 6,three times,4h apart,50mg/kg) to label the proliferating cells.The neurological status was assessed by using Zea Longa neurological deficit scores at 7 days following cerebral infarction.Results Zea longa neurologic deficit scores in MCAO group and sham+ MCAO) group had significantly differences with IP+ MCAO group and PTS+ MCAO group respectively at 7d post MCAO(P＜0.01).There was no significant differeuce in Zea-longa neurologic deficit scores between MCAO group versus sham+ MCAO group,and IP+ MCAO group versus PTS+ MCAO group(P＞0.05).The number of BrdU+ ceils in hippocampus had significant differences between IP+ MCAO and PTS+ MCAO groups at 7d post MCAOand three groups of sham,MCAO and sham+ MCAO respectively (P＜0.01).There was no difference in the number of BrdU+ cells between MCAO versus Sham + MCAO groups and IP + MCAO versus PTS+MCAO groups(P＞0.05).DOR and Bcl-2 mRNA expression levels were higher and Bax mRNA expression level was lower in IP+ MCAO group than in MCAO,Sham+ MCAO and PTS+MCAO groups (P＜0.01).There were no significant differences in DOR,Bcl-2 and Bax mRNA expressions among MCAO,Sham + MCAO and PTS + MCAO groups (P＞ 0.05).Conclusions Acute cerebral infarction can induce the proliferation of endogenous neural stem cells in hippocampus in SD rats.IPC can facilitate the proliferation of endogenous neural stem cells in hippocampus afteracute cerebral infarction,improve the symptoms of neurologic dysfunction,increase DOR and Bcl 2 mRNA expressions,and reduce Bax mRNA expression in SD rats.PTS can facilitate the proliferation of endogenous neural stem cells in hippocampus after acute cerebral infarction in SD rats,and improve the symptoms of neurologic dysfunction,but it has no influence on the expressions of DOR,Bcl-2 and Bax mRNA.

BACKGROUND:Thoracic vertebrae connected with the ribs of corresponding segments constitute the thorax. Because of thoracic vertebrae deeply and complicated structure, it is difficult to operate or to expose thoracic vertebrae completely. The traditional anterior ways can thoroughly remove the focus and achieve a good internal fixation, but this treatment needs to cut the rid. The surgeon discovered in years of clinical practice that distraction of intercostal space without cutting off the ribs could completely remove the focus and achieve fixation and fusion. OBJECTIVE:To explore the feasibility, advantages and disadvantages of anterior plate fixation and autologous bone graft fusion in the repair of thoracic spinal tuberculosis.
METHODA total of 30 cases of thoracic spinal tuberculosis were enrol ed. On the base of traditional thoracic spinal anterior surgical approach, the rib was reserved. Anterior distraction device was used to open the ribs for clearance and to move the focus of thoracic spinal tuberculosis. Autologous ilium was obtained and subjected to fusion and anterior plate fixation. Visual Analog Scale, Oswestry Disability Index, Frankel grade and Bridwel bone healing rating were used before and after treatment.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:A total of 30 patients were fol owed up for 3-60 months. The bone healing (class A) was seen, but no fistula formation was visible. Nerve compression symptoms were improved, without aggravating cases. Postoperatively, the average Cobb angle correction was 10.32°. After 6 months, imaging revealed bone fusion of affected vertebral body. After 18 months, the vertebral height was not lost obviously, no recurrence of vertebral tuberculosis. These results indicated that anterior intercostal space without cutting ribs exposed clearly, showing a large space, where can meet the requirement of first-stage debridement fixation and fusion in the repair of thoracic tuberculosis. The pathological changes were visibly clear;the focus was thoroughly removed, and the ribs were reserved. The outcomes are identical to rib resection. Simultaneously, autogenous iliac trilateral cortex has good supporting effects. Loose cancellous bone mesh has good osteogenesis and is helpful to bone healing.
