OBJECTIVE: To investigate the changes and determine the difference of electrode impedance and neural response telemetry ( NRT) value with cochlear implants in children with malformed inner ear and normal inner ear. METHOD: Eighty-eight children with multi-channel cochlear implants participated in this study. Children were divided into malformed inner ear group and normal inner ear group. To test the electrode impedance values and NRT value. RESULT: The changes of electrode impedance showed the similar changing pattern in two groups. There was not different in electrode impedance values between the two groups (P > 0.05). The changes of electrode neural response telemetry values showed the similar changing pattern in two groups. There was significantly different in electrode impedance values between the two groups (P < 0.05). The NRT were going up higher from electrode 22 to electrode 1. CONCLUSION The values vary are different programming sessions and electrodes during the first 3 months of cochlear implant use. To acquire better hearing frequent programming sessions are necessary.

Toad venom as a Chinese traditional natural medicine with a kind of effective chemical components has been widely used for many disease.Recently more and more research was focused on its remarkable antitumor efforts, new studies have found that the mechanism was closely associated with endoplasmic reticulum stress,tumor-related inflammation, autophagy, mitochondria-induced apoptosis pathway, heat chock protein and immuneomodulatory.In this article we reviewed the antitumor research advances of toad venom and its active compounds from several aspects mentioned above.

The electrochemical behaviors of parathion(PT) on nano-Al2O3 film modified electrode(nano-Al2O3/GCE/CME) were investigated. It was found that the redox peak currents of PT remarkably increased and the oxidation peak potential negatively shifted at the nano-Al2O3/GCE/CME. All the experimental parameters were optimized and a simple and sensitive electroanalytical method was developed for the determination of PT. The oxidation peak current was linear with the concentration of PT over the range from 2.5×10-9 to 1.0×10-7 mol/L and 1.0×10-7 to 1.0×10-5 mol/L. A low detection limit of 1.0×10-9 mol/L was obtained for 30 s accumulation at open circuit(S/N=3). The relative standard deviation(n=10) was 3.8% for 1×10-5 mol/L PT. The proposed method was used for the quantitative analysis of PT in some vegetables and the results were satisfactory.

The present study was performed to investigate the relationship between the countercurrent of portal vein and intrahepatic cancerometastasis in patients with hepatic carcinoma under color Doppler flow imaging.To display the situation of portal carcinomatous thrombosis and intrahepatic cancerometastasis, two dimensional ultrasound was carried out in patients with hepatitis hepatocarcinoma and non hepatitis hepatocarcinoma. Also, color Doppler flow imaging was employed to examine the incidence of the pylic countercurrent and the portal vein hepatic artery fistula in four groups: hepatitis hepatocarcinoma group, non-hepatitis hepatocarcinoma group, hepatocirrhosis group and control group. The results showed that the incidences of portal carcinomatous thrombosis,intrahepatic cancerometastasis and the incidences of the countercurrent in portal vein were higher in hepatitis hepatocarcinoma group than those in non hepatitis hepatocarcinoma group ( P

Both microRNA and DNA methylation are the important contents of epigenetic modification.Lots of studies have confirmed that mutual regulation of microRNA and DNA methylation involve in tumorgenesis and development of cancer.The studies of their mechanisms bring some new ideas for investigating the pathogenesis of tumors,and provide a theoretical basis for the early diagnosis and treatment.

Objective To explore the relationship between cholecystoadenomyomatosis and gallbladder cancer.Method The expression of p53,bcl-2,EGFR oncoproteins were examined by method of immunohistochemistry in benign lesions and carcinomas in gallbladder.Results The study revealed that overexpressions of p53,bcl-2,EGFR oncoproteins were detected in 0,4,3 cases of 21 patients with chronic cholecystitis;0,5,3 cases of 20 patients with cholecysto-adenomyomatosis and 16,14,11 cases of 25 patients with adenocarcinoma of the gallbladder respectively.There were significantly differences in single or multiple oncogene expression rates among groups,but not in chronic cholecystitis to adenomyomatosis.Conclusions These results suggests that oncogenic changes of p53,bcl-2,EGFR expression may play a role in gallbladder oncogenesis,cholecystoadenomyomaltosis should not be considered as an important precancerous lesion of gallbladder.

Extracorporeal shock wave treatment is capable of providing a non-surgical and effective treatment modality for patients suffering from osteoarthritis. The major objective of current works is to investigate how the shock wave (SW) field would change if a bony structure exists in the path of the acoustic wave. Firstly, a model of finite element method (FEM) was developed based on Comsol software in the present study. Then, high-speed photography experiments were performed to record cavitation bubbles with the presence of mimic bone. On the basis of comparing experimental with simulated results, the effectiveness of FEM model could be verified. Finally, the energy distribution during extracorporeal shock wave treatment was predicted. The results showed that the shock wave field was deflected with the presence of bony structure and varying deflection angles could be observed as the bone shifted up in the z-direction relative to shock wave geometric focus. Combining MRI/CT scans to FEM modeling is helpful for better standardizing the treatment dosage and optimizing treatment protocols in the clinic.

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effects of norcantharidin poloxamer 407(NCTD P407) slow released preparation on advanced primary liver cancer by local intratumoral injection. Methods: Fifty six advanced primary liver cancer patients with maximum diameter from 6 to 12 cm were randomly divided into test and control groups. Patients in test group (29 case) were treated by NCTD 407 intratumoral injection under ultrasonic and patients in control group (27 case) by PEI (percutaneous intratumoral absolute ethanol injection). Clinical therapeutic effects were observed respectively and compared. Results: Twelve months survival rates of patients in 2 groups were significantly different, being 31.0% in test group and 22.2% in control group ( P 0.05) in 2 groups. No evident poisonous and side effects were found in either test or control group. Conclusion: NTCD P407 administration exhibits therapeutic effects in relatively big advanced liver cancer because of the high concentration and prolonged action in the tumor foci, its comprehensive therapeutic effect is better than that of absolute ethanol administration. Objective To investigate the clinical and prognosis characteristics of SLE patients whose initial clinical presentations were Sj(o)gren's syndrome (SS).Methods Medical charts of 41 consecutive SS/SLE inpatients admitted to Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) from February 1998 to February 2008 were systematically reviewed,including demographic data,clinical features,laboratory findings,treatment as well as prognosis.Two hundred and fourteen cases were randomly selected as controls from 2331 non SS-onset lupus (NSs/SLE) inpatients weated in PUMCH at the same time period.Results There were significant differences between SS/SLE and NSS/SLE patients in the following aspects (P＜0.05):①gender composition:(F/M) (41/0 vs 184/30),age at the diagnosis of SLE [(43±41) yrs vs (32±31) yrs)],disease duration L(114±84) mollths vs (45±18) months];②clinical features:xerostomia (85.3% vs 6.1%),xerophthalmia (75.6% vs 2.3%),faeial rash (9.8% vs 46.3%),renal tubular acidosis (21.9% vs 0),nephrotic syndrome (7.3% vs 31.3%),central nervous system invoivement (4.9% vs 19.6%),interstitial lung disease (12.2% vs 2.8%);③labratory findings:ESR[(65±75) mm/1 h vs (46±34) mm/1 h)],patients with elevated IgG level (56.4% vs 29.9%) and IgA level (38.5% vs 20.4%),RF,prevalence of anti-SSA and anti-SSB antibodies (70.8% vs 20.3%,82.9% vs 43.4% and 39.0% vs 7.9%);④SLEDAI score (8±8 vs 10±10),glucocorticosteroid treatment (methylprednisolone bolus/1～2 mg·kg-1·d-1 prednisone/1 mg·kg-1·d-1 prednisone)(8/26/7 vs 91/102/21),and rate of death and/or severe irreversible organ failure (2.4% vs 14.9%).SS/SLE patients were followed up for (33±34) months,40 cases remained stable and only one patient died of acute pulmonary embolism.Conclusion Compared to NSS/SLE,SS/SLE patients ale older and have more insidious disease course.They have higher prevalence rate of anti-SSA and anti-SSB antibodies,renal tubular acidosis and interstitial lung disease,but less severe neuropsychiatric and renal involvements and much better prognosis.

Objective To investigate the clinical manifestations, immunological features and prognosis of primary Sj(o)gren's syndrome(pSS) with anticentromere antibodies(ACA). Methods Sixty pSS patients with ACA in our hospital between 1985 and 2006 were screened retrospectively and compared with those without ACA. Results The mean age at the onset of pSS with ACA was higher than that of those without ACA[(48±11)yr vs(41±12)yr,P=0.000].There was no difference in sex ratio,dry mouth.dry eyes and positive salivary gland biopsy between the two groups(P＞0.05).Compared with those without ACA,patients with ACA presented a higher prevalence of liver involvement(68.3%vs 37.0%,P=0.000),while a lower prevalence of renal involvement(13.3%vs 30.9%,P=0.009), neuropathy(1.7% vs 11.5%,P=0.025)and hypergammaglobulinemia(20.8%vs 45.7%,P=0.002). The difference was not significant between the two groups in Raynaud's phenomenon,articular involvement,myositis,hematologic involvement,lung involvement,and thyroiditis. While both groups showed the same prevalence of antinuclear antibody(ANA),the patterns of ANA-IF were different and the discrete speckled pattern was the most freqent in patients with ACA and occurred in 61.7%. Different from those without ACA,patients with ACA presented a lower prevalence of anti-SSA,anti-SSB, rheumatoid factor, and antiU1 RNP,while showed a higher prevalence of antimitochondrial antibodies(AMA) and AMA-M2. The most frequent cause of death was the complications associated with cirrhosis,notably bleeding varices(3/5 cases). Conclusion Patients with ACA present a high risk of liver involvement. Because of the remarkable difference in the mean age of disease onset and also differences in systemic damage, immunological and antibody features, pSS with ACA may be a special subtype of pSS.
