Objective To investigate the breeding densities and the seasonal distribution of Tyrophagus putrescentiae, Acarus siro, Lepidoglyphus destructor, and Dermatophagoides farinae in Bengbu City, 4 common storage acaroid mites during Feb.2006-Jan.2007. Methods The samples were collected and isolated by Waterflotation and Tullgren, then counted and identified the four acaroid mites from 20 different habitats. Results 4 species of acaroid mites had high breeding density in ham, wheat, seed and house dust. The number of the mite increased from Apr. or May, and to the peak during July and Aug. and declined from Sep. or Oct.. Seasonal distribution of the individual acaroid mites might be different. Conclusion 4 species of acaroid mites are widely distributed in Bengbu city with distinctive seasonal distribution.

This Tablet yields satisfactory result in lowering glucose and improving hemorheology. We have observed that, in addition to lowering of glucose level, it also elevates the content of RBC - SOD, inhibits the formation of MDA. and decreases the level of AchE. When comparison was made with that of Yuquan Tablet control group, the different was significant (P

68 such cases of diabetes were randomly divided into treating group (Xianzhen Tablet), control group (placebo). Indices on activity and contents of RBC -SOD, LPO, blood lipids, blood glucose, and clinical symptoms were examined. Results revealed that decreased activity of SOD, increased LPO content were more remarkable in the treating group, with significant difference (P

Objective To investigate and report the catalogue and distribution of acaroid mites in region of Jianghuai. Methods The dust samples were collected from storage circumstances, working places and human dwellings from Jianghuai region(11 cities) in Anhui province from April to October, 2006.Acaroid mites were isolated by waterflotation and tullgren, then counted and identified. Results Thirty species of acaroid mites were identified, belonging to 20 genera, 7 families(4 subfamilies), the dominant species were Tyrophagus putrescentiae, Acarus siro, Lepidoglyphus destructor, Glycyphagus domesticus, Dermatophagoides farinae and Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus. Conclusion Acaroid mites breeding in differenai habitats of Jianghui region distributes widely and shows significant diversity.

Immunological alterations and changes in neurotransmission are considered to be crucial in the pathological process of depression. An immune activation including increased production of proinflammatory cytokines has repeatedly been described in depression, which shines a clue for new anti-depression therapy. Immune activation will lead to depression through serotonin and glutamate systems. This paper is attempted to review the immune mediated alterations on serotonin and glutamate systems.

Objective To explore the effect of Jinmaitong (JMT) on expression of Bax, Bcl-2 and Caspase-3 in hippocampal neurons culturedwith high glucose. Methods Hippocampal neurons were primarily cultured and purified from the hippocampus of new-born SpragueDawley rats. Neuron-specific enolase immunocytochemical method was adopted for the identification of the neurons. They were divided intonormal control group, high glucose group, high-dose JMT (JH) group, middle-dose JMT (JM) group, low-dose JMT (JL) group and a positivecontrol group. 72 hours later, Western blotting was adopted to detect the expression of Bax, Bcl-2 and Caspase-3. Results Comparedwith the normal control group, the expression of Bax and Caspase-3 in the high glucose group significantly increased (P<0.01), and the expressionof Bcl-2 significantly decreased (P<0.05). Compared with the high glucose group, the expression of Caspase-3 and Bax in the positivecontrol group and JH, JM, and JL groups significantly decreased (P<0.01), and the expression of Bcl-2 significantly increased (P<0.05).Compared with the positive control group, the expression of Caspase-3 and Bax significantly decreased in JH, JM, and JL groups (P<0.05),and the expression of Bcl-2 significantly increased in JH and JM groups (P<0.05). Conclusion JMT may reduce apoptosis by inhibiting theexpression of Bax and Caspase-3 and promoting the expression of Bcl-2.

Objective To better understand the age related changes of cardiac structure and function and their relationship with gender, body weight and blood pressure. Methods M mode, 2 dimensional, and Doppler echocardiographic studies were performed on 306 healthy intellectuals, including 165 males and 141 females, ranging in age from 30 to 85 years. Results Parameters in both male and female including the ratio of peak E wave to peak A wave velocity(E/A), the ratio of the right ventricular peak E wave to peak A wave velocity(E/Ar), the amplitude of aortic wall (Aao) and the angle between septum and the root of aorta (?) were all decreased with the aging significantly( P

Objective To compare the difference in ischemic heart disease (IHD) incidence between left and right breast cancer treated with post-op radiation therapy. Methods We retrospectively reviewed electronic database of breast cancer patients treated in our cancer center from October 2006 to December 2011.Clinical data were recorded including clinical features, radiation fraction, and IHD.Statistical analysis was performed to compare the difference in IHD incidence between left and right breast cancer. Results Age on diagnosis was significantly associated with IHD (P < 0.05).Compare to younger patients (≤60),the increased hazard ratio of IHD in older patients (>60) was 3.84.The left breast cancer patients had greater incidence of IHD with the increased hazard ratio of 1.57 although this difference did not reach statistical power (P > 0.05).No patients got IHD in the intensity-modulated radiation therapy group. Conclusions Left-side breast cancer patients may have more probability to get IHD after thoracic radiation therapy compared to right-side patients. We recommend that left-side breast cancer patients should be treated with intensity-modulated radiation therapy to spare heart if they receive prophylactic radiation therapy after surgery.

Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of AIDS-related non-Hodgkin lymphoma(ARL)and review relative literature for the diagnosis and treatment of ARL.Method The clinical data of ARL patients admitted to Peking Union Medical College Hospital from April 2009 to April 2011 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Five male ARL patients aged 32 to 65 years old were included in this retrospective study.Among them, two patients were found to be HIV-positive for the first time, three were on regular highly active anti-retroviral therapy(HAART)for 7-8 months before the emergence of lymphoma-related symptoms.CD4+ T cell count was(69-232)× 106/L at presentation. Two patients firstly presented with sore throat and throat ulcer, one with cervical nodules, one with pelvic mass, one with fever and edema in right thigh.Through pathological analysis, four patients had B cell-originated lymphoma, with one Burkitt lymphoma and three diffuse large B cell lymphomas; one patient had T-cell lymphoma.Four patients were treated with chemotherapy, with one complete remission, one relapse, one non-response,and one death. One patient had radiotherapy only and had progressed disease.Bone marrow suppression and gastrointestinal disturbance were the main adverse effects of chemotherapy. Conclusions Lymphoma should be considered in any HIV-infected patients presented with unexplainable adenopathy, recurrent sore throat or throat ulcer,or fever of unknown origin.Biopsy should be rigorously carried out.Appropriate chemotherapy, together with HAART,may improve the prognosis greatly.
