Objective To get knowledge of the indoor air pollution states in the newly renovated apartments in Xi’an city, and explore the relationship among the major pollutants and the relationship between the pollutants and the differences of seasons. Methods From January, 2006 to May, 2007, we randomly selected 138 newly renovated (3 months or less) apartments in the urban area of Xi’an city, tested their indoor (including bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms, study, a total of 597) content of formaldehyde, total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), ammonia, benzene, toluene and xylene. Results Among which were detected in all of the pollutants, total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) and formaldehyde own the highest exceeding rates, respectively 69.8% and 60.8%. They are followed by ammonia, whose exceeding rate is 13.2%, xylene which has the highest exceeding rate among the benzene compounds, 8.7%. We did comparative analysis of the concentration in different types of rooms for the pollutants which are among the top four in exceeding rate ranks, and found that only for formaldehyde, there is significant difference in statistics (P

Indoor microbial contamination of the buildings and the related health impacts has been more and more concerned by the public.The indoor microbial contaminants contain bacteria,virus,fungus,dust mites,pollen and so on,and the source is diversity.Many studies at home and abroad have found that the microbial contaminants in different kinds of the buildings like the public places,schools,living rooms and so on are very popular,sometimes quite high level.Indoor microbial contamination can cause adverse impact on health of the exposed population,such as some infectious diseases,allergenic symptoms/diseases,even cancers.

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of continuous elastic outside distraction on female minipig nipples and their supporting tissues,and to investigate its mechanism to correct inverted nipples.MethodsThree female 3-month-old minipigs with 12 nipples were employed.4 nipples of each minipig were remained without distraction as control group,and the other 8 nipples were continuously distracted with inverted nipple correction instruments.Corresponding nipples were excised at 2,4,8 and 12 weeks after traction.Before excision,the diameters and heights of nipples were measured with a vernier caliper.Then the excised nipple specimens were employed for HE staining to observe the change of their tissue structure and the number counting of capillaries.ResultsThe volumes of nipples all obviously increased after traction,as compared with control group,and diameters and heights of nipples were significantly different (P＜0.01).In addition,there was a trend that nipple height increased with traction time.Under light microscope,the traction group showed that epidermis thickened,basal cells,fibroblasts and capillary significantly proliferated.Capillary counts compared with the control group were significantly different (P＜0.01).ConclusionsContinuous elastic outside distraction can promote the proliferation of female minipig nipple and areola papillaris.

Objective To observe the expression of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in blood serum after axonal injury in rats and investigate the effects of ciclosporin A (CsA) on it so as to discuss mechanism of CsA protecting neural function. Methods A total of 75 adult male SD rats were randomly divided into control group (Group A with 5 rats), only optic nerve stretch group (Group B with 35 rats) and stretch plus CsA treatment group (Group C with 35 rats). Stretch injury was induced in the right optic nerves of the rats in Group B and C. CsA at 20 mg/L was intraperitonealy injected in Group C immediately after stretch injury. Five animals from both Group B and Group C were killed at 1,3, 6, 12 hours and at days 1,3 and 7 after stretch injury or injection of CsA respectively. Morphological changes of optic nerves and retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) after stretch injury were examined under light microscope. In the mean- time, expression of IL-1β in the blood serum was observed by means of radioimmunoassay. Results (1) Histopathological observation showed lose of R GCs at day 3 and disarranged nerve fiber at day 7 after stretch injury of optic nerve in Group B, but significant amelioration of corresponding changes in Group C. (2) The expression of IL-1β in blood serum in Group B was significantly higher than that in Group A 3, 6, 12 hours and 1 day after injury. The expression of IL-1β reached peak at the 6th hour, then de- creased gradually and returned to the similar level of Group A after 3 days. The expression pattem of IL- 1 β in blood serum of Group C decreased more significantly at 3, 6, 12 hours and 1 day compared with that in Group B but was still higher than that of Group A at 6, 12 hours and 1 day. Conclusions The long-term and excessive expression of IL-1β may be involved in the secondary pathological changes after axonal injury. CsA exerts neuroprotective effect on injured axons mostly by attenuation of inflammation re- action after axonal injury.

BACKGROUND: The traditional treatment for skin donor site wound was focus on anti-infection and wound protection, which roof a long time for healing. Studies demonstrated that recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) has accelerated effect or epidermal regeneration. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of rhEGF on wound healing of skin donor site. METHODS: A total of 32 cases needs wound healing by skin grafting were collected, including 18 males and 14 females. The 32 skin graft donor site wounds were randomly divided into control and treatment groups. In the treatment group, the absorbent gauze was sprinkle soaked with rhEGF (15 mL/ramus, 2 000 IU/mL) and covered the donor site, twice per day. In the control group, donor site was covered by physiological saline gauze and wrapped with dressing, twice per day. After 48 hours, semi-exposed therapy was performed. The healing time of wounds, the systemic and local adverse reactions of patients and blood routine examination and renal function detection prior to and after treatment were observed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The healing time of wound in the rhEGF treatment group was shorter than that in the control group with significant differences (P < 0.01). No Adverse events or side effects were observed in the rhEGF treatment group. rhEGF can shorten wound healing time, reduce scar hyperplasia, and accelerate epithelization at the graft donor.

Objective To investigate the effect of gene therapy which was mediated by electroporation on the expression of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) duning mandible distraction.Methods Bilateral mandibular osteotomies were performed in New-Zealand rabbit.After a latency of 3 days,the mandibles were elongated using distractors with a rate of 0.8 mm/d for 7 days.The rabbits were randomly divided into 5 groups:2 μtg recombinant plasmids pIRES-hVEGF165-hBMP2,pIRES-hBMP2,pIRES-hVEGF165,pIRES and normal saline (NS) were injected into the distraction area of groups A,B,C,D and E,after completion of distraction,respectively.The lengthened mandibles were harvested and processed for immunohistochemical detection of bFGF,and the mean optic densities and integral optical density of bFGF positive cells were measured by computerized image analyzer.Results bFGF mainly located in fibroblasts,giant monocytes,polynuclear phagocytes,osetocytes,and osetoblasts in the connective tissue around bone tissue.The strongest expression was observed at the 7th day,and weakened at 14th day of consolidation stage,there were no significant difference among groups A,B and C,at the 7th day of consolidation.However,there were significant differences between gene therapy groups (A,B and C) and control groups (D and E) (P＜0.01).Conclusions Gene therapy can enhance and prolong the expression of bFGF in distraction gap,which promotes the cell differentiation and proliferation,extracellular matrix synthesis and new bone formation during distraction osteogenesis.This is probably one of the molecular mechanisms of the gene therapy promoting new bone formation in distraction gap.

Objective The purpose of this study is to explore the clinical value of CT angiography( CTA) in the diagnosis of multiple intracranial aneurysms.Methods The data of CTA and DSA from 74 patients with multiple intracra-nial aneurysms from July 2011 to March 2015 were reviewed retrospectively.Results One hundred seventy-seven aneu-rysms were detected by DSA, and 175 aneurysms were detected by CTA.Among the aneurysms identified by CTA, 4 aneu-rysms were false positive and the correct detection rate of CTA was 96.6%.One hundred sixty-five aneurysms identified by CTA were confirmed by DSA and the correct diagnostic rate of CTA was 96.5%.CTA failed to detect 6 aneurysms and mis-diagnosed 10 aneurysms.Conclusions The correct detection rate and diagnostic rate of CT angiography ( CTA) in multiple intracranial aneurysms is relatively high.But previous surgery, spasm of the vessels, the size and number of aneurysms, radiologists'experience can influence the accuracy of ( CTA) in the diagnosis of multiple intracranial aneurysms, indicating that we should combine CTA with DSA to avoid the misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis.

BACKGROUND: At present, traditional modalities of neuroimaging, such as CT and MRI, is very limited in the diagnosis and severity estimation of diffuse axonal injury (DAI).OBJECTIVE: To investigate the value of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1HMRS) in the diagnosis and prognosis of DAI.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Prospective clinical controlled observation. The study was performed at the Department of Neurosurgery, and Department of Radiology, First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between October 2002 and September 2007.PARTICIPANTS: A total of 63 subjects with traumatic brain injury were enrolled and divided into DAI group (n=27) and non-DAI group (n=36) according to the result of MRI. In addition, 20 healthy persons were served as control group.METHODS: Demographic and clinical data were recorded on admission and neuroimaging examinations including fluid attenuated inversion recovery were carried on according to carefully designed procedures, in addition, 1HMRS was performed and the data were analyzed in combination with clinical condition.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The ratios of N-acetyl aspartate (NAA)/creatine (Cr) and creatine phosphate (Cr), Choline compound (Cho)/Cr, myoinositol (mlNs)/Cr, and glutamic acid (GIx)/Cr at genu and splenium of corpus cellosum, and basal ganglia were quantified using 1HMRS.RESULTS: Compared with control and non-DAI groups, DAI group had decreased NAA/Cr and increased Cho/Cr at genu and splenium of corpus callosum, and basal ganglia (P < 0.05- 0.01), as well as increased mlNs/Cr and Glx/Cr at genu and splenium of corpus cellosum (P < 0.05). Non-DAI group also showed decreased NAA/Cr at splenium and increased Cho/Cr at genu of corpus callosum compared with control group (P < 0.01), but the change degree was less than DAI group. A positive correlation between Cho/Cr at genu of corpus callosum and the peded of primary unconsciousness was identified in DAI group (r=0.824, P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The 1HMRS indexes at genu and splenium of corpus callosum, and basal ganglia could serve as effective indexes for the diagnosis of DAI. The Cho/Cr could well reflect histological changes following injury and act as sensitive index to predict clinical injury.

Objective Several surgical procedures are available for treatment the prominent mandibular angle. But in some patients, only one procedure is not likely to obtain satisfactory results. This study was to evaluate the effect of curved osteotomy combined with sagittal splitting osteotomy of the mandibular angle by an intraoral approach for treatment the broad lower face. Methods 21 patients with broad lower face were treated with mandibular angle osteotomy plus mandibular angle splitting osteotomy under general aesthesia by intraoral approach. Changes of the distance between the mandibular angles were observed during follow up phase. Questionnaires were used to assess the patents level of satisfaction after operation. Results All the wounds healed without complications of bleeding and infection. After 7 months to 12 months follow up, the distance between the mandibular angles was effectively reduced, the deformity of broad lower face were improved markedly, the curve of the mandibular angle was smooth and the shape was natural. Conclusion This method is worthy to be applied widely because of the good result with effective reduction of the width of the lower face, smooth and gentle outline of the face.

Objective To explore the effect of elastic outside distraction on microvessel density and to illustrate the mechanism correcting inverted nipples. Methods Three female 3-month-old minipigs,with 12 nipples each,were employed.4 nipples of each minipig were remained without distraction were control group,and the other 8 nipples were continuously distracted with inverted nipple correction instruments.Corresponding nipples were excised at 2,4,8 and 12 weeks after traction.The excised nipple specimens were employed with immunohistochemical staining to detect the expression of vascular endothelial cells growth factor (VEGF) and CD34 in those tissues,and the percentageof positive cells and microvessel density (MVD) changes were counted.Results The expression of CD34 and VEGF in the experimental groups increased at 2 weeks after tracted,and reached at the peak at 4 weeks,then gradually decreased during 8 to 12 weeks after tracted.While those were weakly positive in control group.Compared with the control group,the integral optical density of VEGF-positive cells and MVD were significantly different (P＜0.01),and there was a significantly positive correlation between MVD and VEGF.Conclusions Continuous elastic outside distraction can promote the expression of VEGF and CD34 in female minipig nipple and enhance angiogenesis,which increases oxygen supply locally,and therefore those local tissue proliferation may be one of key mechanisms of correcting the inverted nipple by continuous elastic outside distraction.
