Chemotherapy is one of the main treatments for gastric cancer, but its drug resistance often limits the effectiveness of chemotherapy, leading to treatment failure. Drug resistance can be divided into primary drug resistance and secondary resistance. It has showed that several factors were involved in the multidrug resistance of gastric cancer, including the expression of drug resistance-related proteins, abnormalities of apoptosis-related genes, dysfunction of DNA damage repair, epithelial-mesenchymal transition and non-coding RNA. The solution to improve the efficacy of chemotherapy is to overcome drug resistance or delay drug resistance. This article will explore the progress in multi-drug resistance of gastric cancer.

[Objective] To observe protective effect of taurine, a main component of Calculus Bovis and Scorpio, on diaphragm in diabetic rats. [Methods] Twenty-four SD rats were equally randomized into normal control group, model group and taurine group. Except the normal control group, the other rats were given intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin 50mg/kg to induce diabetic models. Taurine group was fed with 10g/L water solution of taurine, and the other two groups with water for 4 weeks. After treatment, the rats were executed and the isolated diaphragm strips were prepared. Single contraction (SC) , maximum titanic tension, contraction time, half relaxation time, force-frequency curve and fatigue index (FI) of the diaphragm strips were examined. The contents of blood sugar, superoxide dismustase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in the diaphragm were detected and the diaphragm ultrastructure was also observed. [Results] SC, maximum titanic tension and fatigue index were decreased, contraction time and half relaxation time prolonged, diaphragm tension in force-frequency curve decreased, SOD activity reduced and MDA content increased in the model group (P

Objective To investigate the influence of donepezil on neurogenesis in the subventricular zone (SVZ) under the cerebral ischemic conditions. Methods Sixty mice were randomly assigned to a sham +vehicle group, a middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) + vehicle group and a MCAO + donepezil group, 20 in each group. A model of MCAO was established. Neural stem cells/progenitor cells were labeled by Mash1, and neuroblasts were labeled by doublecortin (DCX). The expressions of DCX in the SVZ cells of each group were detected by immunofluorescence. The expressions of Mash1 and DCX in the SVZ cells of each group were quantified by Western blot. Results 10 days after MCAO was undergone, DCX-positive cells were seen in the SVZ of each group, and the expressions of DCX and Mash1 in MCAO + vehicle group were markedly increased as compared with the sham + vehicle group (P < 0.05), and that in MCAO + donepezil group were significantly increased as compared with the other two groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion As a kind of acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, donepezil can promote neurogenesis in SVZ under the cerebral ischemic conditions.

Objective To detect the expression of Th17 pathway-related genes in patients with syphilis serofast reaction and to investigate the mechanism of Th17 cells in syphilis serofast reaction. Meth-ods Peripheral blood samples were collected from patients with syphilis serofast reaction ( n=8 ) , patients who were syphilis-seronegative after treatment (n=8) and healthy subjects (n=8). Total RNA was extrac-ted from each blood sample and then reversely transcribed into cDNA. PCR-Array analysis was performed to quantify the expression levels of Th17 pathway-related genes. Results The expression levels of genes with a fold change >2 (up or down regulated) were defined as differentially expressed. (1) Compared with the control group, the patients with syphilis serofast reaction showed increased expression of genes encoding fork-head box protein 3 (Foxp3) and IL-10, but decreased expression of genes encoding C-C motif chemokine 22 (CCL22), colony stimulating factor 2 (CSF2), CSF3, chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 6 (CXCL6), IL-17A, IL-17D, IL-21, IL-23R, IL-9, interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4), RAR-related orphan receptorα( RORα) , RAR-related orphan receptor γ ( RORγ) and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3). (2) Compared with the seronegative syphilis group, the expression levels of genes encoding Foxp3 and IL-10 in patients with syphilis serofast reaction were up-regulated, while the expression of genes encoding CCL22, CSF2, CSF3, IL-17A, IL-21, IL-23R, IRF4, RORγ and STAT3 were down-regulated. (3) The expression levels of genes encoding CXCL6 and IL-9 in seronegative syphilis group were lower than those in control group. Conclusion The abnormal expression of Th17 pathway-related genes might relate to the pathogenesis of serofast state of syphilis.

In recent years, anti-angiogenic drugs influencing vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling have been widely used in the treatment of malignant tumors. Apatinib is an orally bioavailable small molecule antiangiogenic agent. The CSCO Guide to Gastro-Oncology,published in 2017, lists apatinib as the only targeted drug targeted for third-line treatment of gastric cancer. This review summarizes the recent advances in the structure, mechanisms of action, reversing drug resistance, clinical efficacy, adverse reactions, and biomarkers in various types of malignancies.

OBJECTIVETo investigate whether transplantation of autologous peripheral blood CD34+ stem cells is a viable approach for treating patients with advanced cirrhosis, which is currently hindered by a shortage in liver donors.
METHODSA total of 100 patients with advanced cirrhosis and who had failed to respond to conservative therapy were recruited for transplantation of autologous peripheral blood CD34+ stem cells. The success of transplantation was investigated 6-and 12-months later by measuring markers of liver biosynthesis function (coagulation, albumin level, indocyanine green clearance,Child-Pugh score) and assessing pathological changes (Knodell score) and morphologic changes in the liver tissue.Complications were also recorded during follow-up.
RESULTSThe 1-year cumulative survival rate was 100%. Fifty-two patients with massive ascites showed gradual reduction and disappearance of the ascites.Four patients experienced upper gastrointestinal bleeding and three patients developed with hepatic encephalopathy (I-II degree) at 3 months post-transplantation.All patients showed significantly improved liver biosynthesis function, liver elasticity and Knodell score after transplantation (P less than 0.05).
CONCLUSIONAutologous peripheral blood CD34+ stem cell transplantation is a safe and effective treatment for advanced cirrhosis, and has high cost-benefit since it improves liver function, liver histology, and quality of life.

Osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) can lead to lower back pain and may be even accompanied by scoliosis, neurological dysfunction and other complications, which will affect the daily activities and life quality of patients. Vertebral augmentation is an effective treatment method for OVCF, but it cannot correct unbalance of bone metabolism or improve the osteoporotic status, causing complications like lower back pain, limited spinal activities and vertebral refracture. The post-operative systematic and standardized rehabilitation treatments can improve curative effect and therapeutic efficacy of anti-osteoporosis, reduce risk of vertebral refracture, increase patient compliance and improve quality of life. Since there still lack relevant clinical treatment guidelines for postoperative rehabilitation treatments following vertebral augmentation for OVCF, the current treatments are varied with uneven therapeutic effect. In order to standardize the postoperative rehabilitation treatment, the Spine Trauma Group of the Orthopedic Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association organized relevant experts to refer to relevant literature and develop the "Guideline for postoperative rehabilitation treatment following vertebral augmentation for osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (2022 version)" based on the clinical guidelines published by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) as well as on the principles of scientificity, practicality and advancement. The guideline provided evidence-based recommendations on 10 important issues related to postoperative rehabilitation treatments of OVCF.

This study aimed to obtain the first national estimate of the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in Chinese children. We targeted the population of 6 to 12-year-old children for this prevalence study by multistage convenient cluster sampling. The Modified Chinese Autism Spectrum Rating Scale was used for the screening process. Of the target population of 142,086 children, 88.5% (n = 125,806) participated in the study. A total of 363 children were confirmed as having ASD. The observed ASD prevalence rate was 0.29% (95% CI: 0.26%-0.32%) for the overall population. After adjustment for response rates, the estimated number of ASD cases was 867 in the target population sample, thereby achieving an estimated prevalence of 0.70% (95% CI: 0.64%-0.74%). The prevalence was significantly higher in boys than in girls (0.95%; 95% CI: 0.87%-1.02% versus 0.30%; 95% CI: 0.26%-0.34%; P < 0.001). Of the 363 confirmed ASD cases, 43.3% were newly diagnosed, and most of those (90.4%) were attending regular schools, and 68.8% of the children with ASD had at least one neuropsychiatric comorbidity. Our findings provide reliable data on the estimated ASD prevalence and comorbidities in Chinese children.
