Chinese Journal of Ultrasonography 2003;0(09):-
Objective To explore three-dimensional ultrasonographic features of common ocular diseases. Methods To acquire the data, the free-hand scanning without positioning system was employed in 3 to 5 seconds. Following or after acquisitions, the data were processed and 3D image was reconstructed. Then three-dimensional ultrasonographic features of ocular diseases were characterized. Results 3D images were rendered successfully on 46 eyes of 48 ones. The reconstruction of 3D ultrasonography provided clear stereo images in which shape, dimension, structure, location of retinal detachment, choroidal detachment, vitreous fibrous membrane, lens dislocation, intraocular foreign body and intraocular trauma could be clearly demonstrated. Conclusions 3D ultrasonography needs much shorter scanning time with good space visualization. In the diagnosis of ocular diseases 3D ultrasonic reconstruction can provide more useful information than traditional 2D ultrasonography.

OBJECTIVETo develop a new technique for assessing the risk of birth defects, which are a major cause of infant mortality and disability in many parts of the world.
METHODSThe region of interest in this study was Heshun County, the county in China with the highest rate of neural tube defects (NTDs). A hybrid particle swarm optimization/ant colony optimization (PSO/ACO) algorithm was used to quantify the probability of NTDs occurring at villages with no births. The hybrid PSO/ACO algorithm is a form of artificial intelligence adapted for hierarchical classification. It is a powerful technique for modeling complex problems involving impacts of causes.
RESULTSThe algorithm was easy to apply, with the accuracy of the results being 69.5%±7.02% at the 95% confidence level.
CONCLUSIONThe proposed method is simple to apply, has acceptable fault tolerance, and greatly enhances the accuracy of calculations.

Objective: To optimize the formula of compound asiaticoside gel plasters, and determine the optimal preparation process. Methods:Using the initial adhesion, viscosity and appearance as the indices, the gel plasters were evaluated by orthogonal design in order to study the effects of various base ratios on the preparation and screen the optimal formula and preparation process. Re-sults:The optimal formula was dihydroxyaluminium aminoacetate∶EDTA∶glycerol∶CMC-Na of 0. 25∶0. 05∶45∶1. Conclusion: Com-pound asiaticoside gel plasters with the optimal formula and preparation technique show good adhesion and uniformity, which can meet the need of large-scale production.

AIM To study the protective effects of ( ) epigallocatechin 3 gallate (EGCG) against renal ischmia reperfusion injury. METHODS The renal ischemia reperfusion injury model in rat was made by means of ligating bilateral renal arteries for 60 min and then reperfusion. 10 mg?kg -1 and 40 mg?kg -1 EGCG were given by intravenation before and after operation respectively. Spectrophotometric assay were used to measure the contents of serum creatinine(Scr), blood urea nitrogen (Bun) in serum and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and Ca 2+ ATPase ,the contents of malondialdehyde (MDA), reactive oxygen species (ROS) in renal hemogenate from rats. Renal pathologic changes were also observed. RESULTS Compared with model control group , 40 mg?kg -1 EGCG group was found of significant inhibition in changes of Scr, Bun,MDA,ROS and significant increases in activity of SOD and Ca 2+ ATPase. The renal morphological injury of EGCG groups were slighter than that of model control group. CONCLUSION EGCG has protective effects aganist renal ischemia reperefusion injury via its antioxidant activity and intracellular caclcium reduction.

Objective To study the effect of β-amyloid peptide (Aβ1-42) on expressions of synaptophysin (Syn), dynamin Ⅰ (Dyn Ⅰ) and adaptor protein 180 (AP180) in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells. Methods Human SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells were treated with 0.01, 0.1, 1, 2 and 5 μmol/L Aβ1-42, and control cells were given no treatment. MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol- 2- yl) - 2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide]reduction of the cells was measured by spectrophotometry. The protein levels of Syn, Dyn Ⅰ and AP180 in SH-SY5Y cells treated with 0.5 and 1 μmol/L Aβ1-42 were surveyed by Western blotting. The mRNA levels of Syn, Dyn Ⅰ and AP180 were detected by Real-time PCR in SH-SY5Y cells treated with 1 μmol/L Aβ1-42. Results SH-SY5Y cells showed obviously decreased reduction rates of MTT after exposure to Aβ1-42(0.1 μmol/L) as compared with the controls (P<0.05), and dose-dependent negative correlation was noted in these SH-SY5Y cells. The protein level of Dyn Ⅰ in cells treated with 0.5 μmol/L Aβ1-42 was significantly decreased as compared with that in controls (P<0.05). The protein and mRNA levels of Syn and Dyn Ⅰ in cells treated with 1 μ mol/L Aβ1-42 Were obviously decreased as compared with those in controls (P<0.05), but the levels of AP180 were not changed. Conclusion Aβ1-42 reduces the levels of Syn and Dyn Ⅰ in SH-SY5Y cells, which might be a mechanism in eonnection with cognitive deficit of AD.
