BACKGROUND: The right hemisphere of the cerebellum was involved in linguistic function was disputed. In addition,there was no research report which suggested that the left hemisphere of the cerebellum participated in language processing as same as the right hemisphere. OBJECTIVE: To explore the activation of fight cerebellar hemisphere involved in speech production as well as to discuss the role of left cerebellar hemisphere in speech by means of examining the activated brain regions related the processing of speech production. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: Comparison observation,performed at Department of Magnetic Resonance,the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine between June and July 2008.PARTICIPANTS: Eight normal undergraduate with right-handed but without achromatopsia or hypochromatopsia volunteered to participate in the study. METHODS: Block design was used in this study. Subjects were required to generate a verb related to the Chinese 2-word noun represented visually and the functional scans were performed at the same time,and then the functional data were dealt with analysis of functional neuroimages (AFNI) and analyzed by drawing region of interest (ROI).MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The activation location,coordinate,voxel and the brain activation picture. RESULTS: Verb generation not only activated the right cerebellar hemisphere,but also the left cerebellar hemisphere.And the volumes activated in the left were larger than in the right. CONCLUSION: The lingual function of cerebellum is not only limited in the right,the left cerebellar,hemisphere may be engaged the processing of lingual function.

NuclearfactorκB(NF-κB)isanimportanttranscriptionfactorinmammaliancells.Asa multifunctional factor,NF-κB is involved in a variety of physiological and pathological processes such as immu-nity and inflammation .At the molecular and cellular level,NF-κB regulates initiation and progression of neo-plasms.NF-κB also plays an important role in cell proliferation and apoptosis of neoplasms.Radiotherapy is one of the most important methods in tumor treatment .In recent years,a number of studies discovered that NF-κB is critical in the development of resistance of tumor cells to radiotherapy,which results in poor progno-sis.We can use NF-κB as a biomarker in predicting outcomes of anticancer treatment or as prognostic indicators in patients who are with tumors.So we can find different potential inhibitors aimed at NF-κB and its signal pathway in order to improve the efficacy of radiotherapy.In the present study,the correlation of NF-κB mole-cules with radiotherapy of neoplasms is reviewed.

Objective To express the recombinant protein VP1-Z, and investigate whether VLP-Z has the physiological functions like as wild-type VLP. Methods The expression plasmid pET15b-VP1-Z was introduced into competent E. coil BL21 (DF3)/pLys cells by transformation, and the expression of re-combinant protein VP1-Z was induced by incubation of the cells with IPTG. The protein was prepared as pre-viously described for wild-type VLP. The morphous of VLP-Z were observed by electron microscopy, and the physiological functions of VLP-Z were investigated by hemagglutination test and by immunofluorescence. Re-sults The purified VLP-Z composed of VP1-Z possessed hemagglutination activity and yielded a prominent band of 50×10~3 on SDS-PAGE and staining with Coomassie Brilliant Blue. The VLP-Z exhibited virus-like particles structure like as wild-type VLP with a diameter of 45-50 nm, which was slightly bigger than that of wild-type VLP(42-45 nm). In immunofluorescence test, VP1-Z was detected within the cytoplasm and nu-cleus after HeLa cells were inoculated with VLP-Z. Conclusion The physiological functions of recombinat-ed protein VLP-Z were comparable with wild-type VLP.

Objective To assess the dlagnostic value of a triple stimulation technique(TST)for benign monomelic amyotrophy(BMA). Methods A total of 15 BMA patients and 15 healthy control subiects were exam-ined with the TST.The latent periods,amplitudes,areas and durations of the negative waves of the compound muscle action potential(CMAP)and motor evoked potential(MEP)induced by the stimulation were recorded,and the de-creasing ratio of amplitudes and areas in the two groups were analyzed. Results There were significant differences in amplitude and area ratios between the BMA patients and the healthy control subjects.Both ratios were significantly lower in the BMA patients. Conclusion TST has some value in diagnosis of BMA.

Objective To develop a system for hand function evaluation and training based on virtual reality. Methods 5DT Data Glove 5 Ultra, Visual Studio 2010 were integrated as the development environment and DirectX 9.0 as components, and the system was developed based on the MFC programming framework. Results and Conclusion The system can assess the fingers function, recognise gestures and can be used as a 3D environment for virtual training, which may guide the patients to take the training actively.

Erythropoietin is a critical growth factor in development of erythrocyte. After binding to its receptor, eryhropoietin produces biological action through consequent activation of intracellular signal transduction systems, including JAK2-STAT5, sos-Ras-MAPK, IRS-2- PI 3-K + and Ca 2+ channel.

Objective To construct the vector pET15b-Z-VP1 by inserting the Z fragment into amino-terminal of JCV VP1.Methods The VP1 and Z fragment were amplified by PCR from plasmid pET15b and pEZZ18 respectively,and then they were linked by recombinant PCR.The Z-VP1 fragment was inserted into plasmid pET15b by restriction enzyme BamHⅠ and NcoⅠ.Results The VP1 and Z fragment were obtained by PCR and gel purification.The Z-VP1 fragment,which was linked by recombinant PCR from VP1 and Z fragment,was inserted into plasmid pET15b between BamHⅠ and NcoⅠ sites,and confirmed by enzyme digestion and DNA sequencing.The expression of VP1-Z was confirmed by Western blotting.Conclusion The plasmid pET15b-Z-VP1 has been constructed successfully by inserting Z fragment into amino-terminal of VP1.

Objective To study the effect of artemether (Art) on total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) in adult Schistosoma japonicum. Methods In vitro, the T-AOC was determined in five-week old worms incubated without or with Art and/or hemin for 24 h, and the worms were continuously incubated for 96 h, then worm survival was assessed. In vivo, T-AOC was determined in worms freshly recovered from mice 6 - 24 h after treatment with Art 300 mg/kg. Results Throughout 96 h incubation no worms were killed by 50 μmol/L Art or 50 μmol/L hemin alone, but approximatdy 80% of them were killed by Art plus hemin. Addition of reduced glutathione and vitamin E could significantly block the cidal action of the combined treatment. No effect on T-AOC was seen in the worms exposed to Art or heroin alone for 24 h, but the combined treatment led to a pronounced T-AOC reduction in female worms in vitro. Such a drug effect on female worms was demonstrated in vivo. After female worms were exposed to Art for 6 - 24 h in vivo, their T-AOC was significantly reduced by 40% - 64%. However, no drug effect on male worms' T-AOC was observed in vivo and in vitro exposed to Art plus hemin. Conclusion Art-induced T-AOC reduction in female worms may sensitize them to lethal damages of endogenous and exogenous oxygen radicals.

Objective To study the reversal effecy of small interfering RNA(siRNA) on multidrug resistance and chemotherpy sensitivity of xenografts human breast cancer tumor,and chemotherpy sensitivity in nude mice.Methods siRNA targeted on multidrug resistance protein(MRP) was transfected into MCF-7 cell xenografts tumors of mice,then the expression level of the MRPmRNA and protein was determined,and the chemotherapeutic sensitivity of the breast cancer tissues was evaluated.Results The RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry results showed that the level of MRPmRNA and protein decreased in the experimental group 24 h after the siRNA was transfected(P
