1.Pathogenesis of Post-stroke Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy(review)
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2006;12(11):934-935
Reflex sympathetic dystrophy after stroke, also called shoulder-hand syndrome(SHS),is a common complication of stroke. It is presumed that SHS is consequence of many factors, including periphery injury, effect of sympathetic never system, neurogenic inflammation, and plasticity of central nervous system.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of age on long-term prognosis of patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI).Methods102 inpatients with TBI were evaluated by following-up, using Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS), Functioning Item of Disability Rating Scale (DRS-F) , Employability Item of Disability Rating Scale (DRS-E) and Quality of Life Index (QLI).ResultsThe average age of 102 cases was 29.7±12.5. There were no significant differences among different groups in GOS and DRS-F (P>0.05), but the level of DRS-E or QLI showed much higher in <27 years old group than those in >45 years old group (P<0.01).ConclusionThe factor of age may affect the long-term prognosis of TBI, quality of life and employability of young patients are better than elder patients.

Instructional system design is an important component of instruction. Chaos theory is used in instructional system design of clinical teaching. Application of butterfly effect, fractals and strange attractors theory enhances students’clinical capabilities and comprehensive ability to analyze and solve problems.

Objective To explore the influence of helicobacter pylori(Hp) on gastric motor function in children with chronic gastrictis. Methods Forty-seven children with chronic gastrictis were classified into Hp positive and negative groups according to Hp and histology exa-mination.Each child underwent gastric emptying test of solid by using nuclide method and electrogastrogram(EGG) examination. These cases with Hp-positive acceptted these triple eradication therapy[clarithromycin 15 mg/(kg?d),amoxicillin 50 mg/(kg?d),omeprazole 0.8 mg/(kg?d)]for 2 weeks, and underwent EGG examination again after eradicating Hp.Results The half emptying time(GET_1/2)in Hp-positive gastric group were significantly longer than those in Hp-negative group(t=6.403 P

Objective To establish the animal model with stress ulcer(SU) and probe the relationship between the gastric mucosal injury and lasting stress time, the dynamic structural changes of pH of gastric juice. Methods Twenty-four SD young rats were randomly divided into 4 groups:control group,45 min(groupⅠ),90 min(groupⅡ),3 h(groupⅢ)groups under water immersion restraint stress(WRS).The change of gastric mucosal ulcer index(UI),pH of gastric juice were observed. Results Acute gastric mucosal damage was induced by WRS,with the WRS time prolonged,UI increased gradually and pH of gastric juice remarkably decreased in experimental rats.UI was positively rela-ted with stress time(r=0.957 P

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2004;0(08):-
Objective To confirm the association between the“Tip-Apex Distance (TAD)”and cut-out of the lag screw from the femoral head.and to analyze other factors leading to the cut-out.Methods The complete radiographic and clinical data of 106 patients with femoral intertrochanteric fractures were available for this study. They were 65 men and 41 women, with an average age of 52.4 years (range,20 to 83 years).According to Evans classification.19 cases belonged to typeⅡ.25 to typeⅢ,32 to typeⅣ,29 to typeⅤ,and one to type R.The bone quality was classified by Singh rating system:44 cases were rated as typeⅥ.34 as typeⅤ,23 as typeⅣand five as typeⅢ.They were treated with open reduction and fixation with 135?dynamic hip screw (DHS).According to the finding of Baumgaertner that“TAD”beyond 25 mm would grcatly increase the risk of cut-out,the patients could be divided into two groups:59 cases with“TAD”less than 25 mm and 47 greater than 25 mm.Results The mean duration of follow-ups was 14.45 months (range,4.5 to 28.0 months).Of the 15 cases whose“TAD”was more than 30 mm,one had the cut-out.Of the seven cases whose“TAD”was more than 40 mm,two had the cut-out (P=0.000). The average age of the three patients was 78.7 years (range:75 to 83 years) and 27.1 years older than that of the 103 patients whose fracture healed (P=0.000).They belonged to the unstable intertrochanteric fracture of the femur (two to Evans type V and one to type R).The reduction was assessed as excellent in 43 cases, good in 47 cases, fair in nine cases (of whom one had the cut-out),poor in seven cases (of whom two had the cut-out). Conclusions The cut-out of the lag screw from the femoral head can be caused by age, fracture type and stability of reduction and“TAD”.The greater the“TAD”value, the greater possibility of cut-out.

Chinese Journal of Infectious Diseases 1997;0(04):-
Objective To analyze the clinical features, epidemiologic information and outcome in confirmed cases of human infection with a highly pathogenic influenza A(H5N1).Methods The clinical features and epidemiologic findings in 2 confirmed cases of avian influenza A(H5N1)in Anhui province,in November 2005.Clinical data on vital signs, physical findings, laboratory tests and roentgenology were obtained by means of retrospective review of the hospital records.Epidemiologic data were collected through interviews of the patients and their relatives. Results In both cases, the diagnosis of influenza A(H5N1)was confirmed by means of viral culture and real-time polymerase chain reaction with specific primers for H5 and N1 in samples obtained from tracheal aspiration. All patients were previously healthy young women and resided in village. They had a clear history of di- rect contact with sick/dead poultry and prepared dead chickens at home for eating(removed feathers, washed, cut)hut no report of confirmed HSN1 animals in the village. The time between exposure and onset of illness were 5 days,no one else in family sick. The time between the onset of illness and hos- pitalization were 5 days and 6 days, respectively. Two patients have initial symptoms of high fever (typically a temperature more than 38℃).The prominent clinical features were those of influenza syndrome, including fever, cough, and shortness of breath.Upper respiratory tract symptoms were absent. The platelet counts were decreased. In both patients, there were marked abnormalities on chest radiography, radiographic changes include bilateral and unilateral lobular consolidations with air bronchograms, and had dramatic worsening of findings. Two patients developed acute respiratory dis- tress syndrome(ARDS)complicated multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS)and died of pro- gressive respiratory failure. Conclusions Exposure to dead poultry within a week before the onset of illness was associated with Influenza A(H5N1)infection in humans, but no definitive evidence of hu man-to-human transmission has been found yet.Influenza A(HSNI)infection, characterized by fe- ver,an influenza-like illness with lower respiratory tract symptoms, carries a high risk of death.
