Depression is a common emotional disorder that seriously affects people's life and health all over the world. The pathogenesis of depression is complex, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for antidepressants has a good therapeutic effect because of its multi-component, multi-pathway, and multi-target action mode. At present, the anti-depressive mechanism of TCM has not been fully clarified, but it is clear that depression is closely related to metabolic health. Therefore, in order to further explore the anti-depressive mechanism of TCM, this paper proposes research strategies on the anti-depressive mechanism of TCM based on functional metabolomics from the perspective of metabolism, the potential biomarkers of depression are analyzed with the help of multi-omics combined analysis technology, and the functional molecules of TCM for antidepressant are studied. Molecular biology techniques are used to accurately capture the molecular interactions between biomarkers of depression and functional compounds, which identify effective drug targets and further elucidate the biochemical functions and related mechanisms involved in depression metabolic disorders. This paper systematically reviews the research strategies and applications of functional metabolomics in the anti-depressive mechanisms of TCM, expounds on the core value of functional metabolomics, and summarizes the current research status and hot issues of TCM for antidepressants in recent years, providing new methods and new ideas for the study of mechanisms of TCM with the help of functional metabolomics.

Objective To evaluate the clinical application of superselective renal artery embolization in the treatment of iatrogenic renal hemorrhage. Methods The iatrogenic renal hemorrhage in fifteen patients was first demonstrated by renal arterigraphy to diagnose the rupture site and degree of injury. And then they were treated by percutaneous catheterized superselective renal arterial embolization through guidance of guide wire. Results In all 15 patients, the occlusive ruption of bleeding arteries and disappearance of extravasation staining were found after the superselective catheterized renal arterial embolization. Clinically, the bloody urine turned clear without macroscopic hematuria during 1-3 days in all patients after the procedure. Conclusions Superseclective renal arterial embolization treatment signified a less invasion, less complications, good hemostatic efficacy, and maximal preservation of renal tissue and function for iatrogenic renal hemorrhage. The treatment is worthy to be recommended.

Objective To study the efficacy and safety of transurethral plasmakinetic resection of prostate (PKRP) in treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia in elderly patients aged 80 years and over. Methods Retrospective clinical analysis of 180 case of high risk of benign prostate hyperplasia treated by PKRP in patients aged 80 years and over. Results All the 180 patients underwent the operation successfully. The average time for operation was (45.5±23.3) min and the resected prostate was in an average of (60.3±23.3) g. Neither of blood transfusion during the operation nor aductor reflex and transurethral resection syndrome occurred. International prostate symptom score,residual urine and quality of life decreased from (29.5±5.3) to (10.2±2.8),from (130.5±45.5) ml to (13.5±7.1)ml and from (7.2±1.1) to (1.0±0.5) respectively. The maximum flow rate elevated from (6.2±1.8) ml/s to (24.5±3.1) ml/s. The differences in the above indicators were statistically significant between pre- and post- operation (P＜0.05). Conclusions Transurethral plasmakinetic prostatectomy is a reliable and effective surgical method, especially for the aged patients with benign prostate hyperplasia.

Objective To detect the mutations of ATP2C1 gene in patients with Hailey-Hailey dis- ease (HHD).Methods PCR and direct sequencing were performed in 17 patients and 120 healthy controls to screen the mutations in the exons of ATP2C1 gene.Results Eight mutations were identified in nine probands, including three deletion mutations (nt1464-1487 del/nt1462-1485del,1523delAT,2375delTTGT),three splice site mutations (360—2A→G,1415—2A→T,2243+2T→C) and two missence mutations (C920T and G1942T).None of the above mutations was found in the controls.Conclusion Eight specific novel mutations were identified in nine probands of HHD,which could be causative factors of the disease.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effects of training on plasma content of NO, ET and NO/ET system in rats fed with high methionine diets.

METHODSMale Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal diet group (CR), high methionine diet group (MR) and high methionine diet plus 90 min swimming group (T+ MR). Rats in MR and T+ MR group were fed with the diet which contained 3%of methionine for eight weeks, but rats in control group were fed with ordinary diet. After breeding for eight weeks homocysteine (Hcy) level, T-NOS, NO and ET were measured.

RESULTSPlasma homocysteine of MR increased twofold as compared with that of CR,whereas plasma NO/ET of MR descended significantly (P < 0.05), suggesting that hyperhomocysteinemia was induced by the high methionine diet, and plasma NO/ET system was out of balance. Plasma homocysteine content of T+ MR obviously descended, plasma T-NOS, NO and NO/ET ascended obviously (P < 0.05) as compared with that of MR, and the above indicators of group T + MR were not different as compared with that of CR (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONProper training can descend plasma homocysteine level of rats fed with high methionine diet and better balance between NO and ET to prevent developing of hyperhomocysteinemia.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Chinese herbal therapy on T-lymphocyte subsets in patients with IgA nephropathy (IgAN).

METHODSTotally 36 inpatients and outpatients at Department of Nephropathy, Xiyuan Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, from June 2011 to June 2013 were recruited in the treatment group, while 20 volunteers were recruited as the healthy control group. Patients in the IgAN group only took Chinese herbal decoctions by syndrome typing for 3 months (except those accompanied with hypertension additionally took antihypertensive agents such as angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor and/or dihydropyridines calcium antagonist). No intervention was performed in the healthy control group. The values of Th1, Th2, and CD4+ CD25+ Treg, and red blood cell number in urine were detected using flow cytometry before and after treatment. 24 h urine protein was detected using inmmunoturbidimetry.

RESULTSCompared with the healthy control group, the CD4+ CD25+ Treg level obviously decreased in the IgAN group, showing statistical difference (P < 0.01). In the IgAN group, Th1, 24 h urine protein, and urine red blood cell counts were obviously lower after treatment, showing statistical difference when compared with before treatment (all P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONChinese herbal therapy could reduce urine erythrocyte number and 24 h urine protein of IgAN patients, and down-regulating Th1 expression might be its mechanism.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of different penetration enhancers on the transcutaneous permeability of lappaconitine gel in vitro and therefore to screen out the effective accelerator to enhance the permeation rate of lappaconitine.

METHODUsing improved Franz-type diffusion cell and excised big mouse skin in vitro as transdermal barrier, the kinetics parameters such as cumulative permeation quantity, permeation rate and permeation lagged time were determined by HPLC. The enhancement ability of four different enhancers such as azone (Azone), propylene glycol (PG), oleic acid (OA) and lauryl alcohol (LA), was investigated when used either uniquely or combinatively each other at random.

RESULTWhen used combinatively, Azone + PG, LA + PG, OA + PG can enhance the cumulative permeation quantity, OA + PG was the best one among them.

CONCLUSIONThe selection of the best penetration enhancers provided reference for lappaconitine transdermal delivery.

The complete chloroplast genome of medicinal plant Asarum caudigerum Hance and its close relative A. cardiophyllum Franchet were sequenced using Illumina Hiseq technology, and assembled, annotated, and characterized by bioinformatic methods in this study. Then phylogenetic analysis of the complete chloroplast genomes of A. caudigerum, A. cardiophyllum, and twelve published species was conducted. The results indicated that the chloroplast genomes ranged from 186 215-186 985 bp in length, with a large single copy (LSC, 89 445-90 169 bp) and two inverted repeats (IRa/IRb, 48 387-48 408 bp). The overall GC content was 37.4%-37.5%. A total of 144 chloroplast genes were annotated, including 98 protein coding genes, 38 tRNA genes and 8 rRNA genes. In addition, complex genomic rearrangements were detected in the chloroplast genome of Asarum. Meanwhile, visual evaluation of the discrete type of the sequence indicated that the variation level of non-coding region was higher than that of coding region. Phylogenetic analyses suggested that A. caudigerum and A. cardiophyllum were clustered into a single clade and A. cardiophyllum, A. sieboldii var. seoulense, A. misandrum and A. maculatum were clustered into another single branch. These two clade were sister species. This study provides a scientific basis for the identification, phylogenetic relationship, molecular breeding of Asarum species.
