Brucellacapt is a new serological test based on immunocapture-agglutination technique that has been used in many countries ,but there was no related article reported in China .The value of the Brucellacapt method in diagnosing human brucellosis was evaluated in this study .Among 120 suspected patients ,75 patients and 45 negatives were diagnosed by SAT and RBPT method combination with their clinical symptoms .Sera from all 120 people were tested by the method of Brucella-capt and iELISA ,and the results were ,consequently ,analyzed and compared .It showed that sensitivity ,specificity ,consis-tency rate ,Kappa value ,and area under ROC curve were found to be 82 .7% ,88 .9% ,85 .0% ,0 .69 ,and 0 .86 ,respectively for Brucellacapt ,whereas they were found to be 90 .7% ,64 .4% ,80 .8% ,0 .57 ,and 0 .78 for iELISA .In conclusion ,specific-ity ,consistency rate ,Kappa value ,and area under ROC curve were higher in Brucellacapt method than that in iELISA .How-ever ,the sensitivity of iELISA is higher .

Objective To understand the information of food hypersensitivity of children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP) by food intolerance test. Methods Seventy-four children (40 boys and 34 girls;aged from 3 to 14) with HSP who were hospitalized in our hospital from Dec.2006 to May 2007 were chosen. Two mils venous blood was collected from each object, separated serum.Enzymelinked immunosorbent assay method was applied to detect the serum concentration of 14 kinds food allergen IgG in 74 children with HSP.The concentration of food allergen IgG was divided into 4 levels: 0(IgG0.20 U/L,servious allergy). Results The positive rate was 77.0% in 74 cases with HSP.One type of food allergen specific IgG increased in 24 cases(42.1%),2 types of antibodies increased in 16 cases(28.1%),3 types of antibodies increased in 12 cases(21.1%).Four or more types of antibodies increased in 5 cases(8.7%).The positive rates of 14 food allergen IgG were as follow:egg 93.0%,milk 26.3%,soybean 15.8%,tomato 14.0%,wheat 12.3%,ling 12.3%,shrimp 8.8%,crab 8.8%,beef 3.5%,corn 1.8%,rice 1.8%.Conclusion Food intolerance test is a useful method for children with HSP to find food allergen and guideline for diet of these children.

AIM:To study the feasibility of recombinant adeno-associated virus(rAAV)as a vector to transfer the green fluorescent protein(GFP)gene as a target gene into rabbit retina.METHODS:Intravitreal injection of rAAV-gfp was performed in either eye for each rabbit with the other eye taken as control. At the 3rd,7th,and 14th day after injection, the eyeballs were removed, and the retinas were flat-mounted on glass slides to inspect the retinal fluorescence, respectively.RESULTS:After intravitreal injection of rAAV-gfp,the presence of fluorescent spots in the cytoplasm of retinal cells indicated that GFP gene was efficiently transferred and expressed in the rabbit retina.CONCLUSION:Recombinant adeno-associated virus is a reliable and simple vector for transferring target gene,e.g.,GFP gene,to the retina.

This paper summarized researches about the factors that influenced the measurement of hand grip, including equipments, ethnics, genders, ages, morphological parameters, handedness, occupation, grip width, body posture and psychological factors. All these are to be considered in studies of grip strength.

The aim of this study was to comprehensively investigate the correlations between foliar fungal endophyte communities and effective components accumulations in Salvia miltiorrhiza. Foliar samples of S. miltiorrhiza were collected in 5 different areas. Their fungal endophyte communities and effective component contents were determined by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), respectively. The results showed that, for characteristics of foliar fungal endophyte communities and effective component contents, there were both similarities and differences among the five samples. Correlation analysis of DGGEs' band and 24 effective components revealed a significant correlations (P < 0.01). For examples, 4 bands (15, 18, 23 and 26) were all significantly correlated with the accumulations of caffeic acid, salvianolic acid B, salvianolic acid C and dihydrotanshinone I.

Objective To investigate antifungal activities of AMB, ICZ, VRC, CBF against 72 strains of filamentous fungi in vitro. Methods Based on CLSI M38-P and M38-A scheme, MIC of antifungal drugs were determined. The growing inhibitory concentration of 100%, 100%,≥80%, for AMB, VRC ,ICZ act as respective MIC. For caspofungin, the minimal effective concentration (MEC) was determined as the lowest drug concentration showing morphology change of filaments. The fractional inhibitory concentration (FIC) was used to evaluate the effect of combination therapy. FIC was calculated by the following equation: FIC = MICcombination/MICA drug alone+ MICcombination/MICB drug alone. Results MIC90 of AMB, ICZ, CBF, VRC against 72 isolates of filamentous fungi were 8 μg/ml, 4 μg/ml, 2 μg/ml, 8 μg/ml, respectively. MICs range of combined AMB + ICZ, AMB + VRC, ICZ + VRC were 0. 125-16. 97, 0. 2452-1.25, and 0.0625-8. 25 μg/ml respectively. The percent of synergistic interaction of AMB + VRC against filamentous fungi (20.0%-88.9% ) was higher than those of AMB + ICZ ( 10.0% -62.5% ) and ICZ + VRC ( 20.0% - 44.4% ) ( P=0.007 <0.05 ). Conclusions The antifungal activities of four kinds antifungal drugs against 72 strains of filamentous fungi vary in vitro. The therapy of AMB combined with VRC is maybe better than AMB + ICZ and ICZ + VRC for severe fungi infection.

Objective To investigate symptom characteristics and their their prevalence in terminally ill patients with ovarian carcinoma. Methods A retrospective study was carried out based on clinical data of 98 terminally ill patients with ovarian carcinoma who died in our hospital during January 1995 to December 2004.Fifteen most common symptoms were analyzed with a focus on the followings:symptom incidence, survival time after symptom occurrence, regularity of symptom cluster, and common causes of death.Fifteen symptoms were:pain, cachexia, pleural effusion and ascites, dyspnea, fever, intestinal obstruction, renal failure, bone marrow depression, lung infection, hemorrhage, deep venous thrombosis (DVT),intestinal or pancreatic fistula, mycotic infection, jaundice and emergency conditions. Results (1)The most prevalent symptom was pleural effusion and ascites(63%),followed by pain(60%), cachexia(59%),dyspnea(52%)and intestinal obstruction(49 %).(2)The symptom which lasted longest survival time was mycotic infection(77 days),followed by intestinal or pancreatic fistula(75 days), intestinal obstruction(67 days),pain(60 days)and eachexia(60 days).Symptoms such as bone marrow depression, renal failure, dyspnea and emergency conditions were comparatively critical associated with shorter survival times(14,13,12,7 days,respectively).(3)Terminal symptoms occurred typically in clusters, with 4.9?1.5 symptoms per case.Of 98 cases,84 cases(86%)had 4 or more symptoms, with the median survival time of 63 days from the last day of anti-cancer therapy, and a slow death process. The remaining 14 cases(14%)with 3 or fewer symptoms survived only 25 days,of which 10 cases(71%)died of emergency diseases. The survival time for two groups was significantly different(P
