Objective To investigate the imaging features of splenic littoral cell angioma (LCA)and correlate with pathological findings. Methods Ten patients of LCA with pathologically confirmed diagnosis were included in this study.A retrospective review of clinical data and imaging findings on CT and MRI was performed, along with review of the literature. Results Splenic littory cell angiomas presented with multiple nodules of varying sizes with a predoninance of small ones.Nine of 10 patients had clinical symptoms of splenomegalia and hypersplenia.MR T2WI and DWI showed masses with high-signalintensity.The CT and MRI enhancing pattern of LCA was similar to splenic hemangioma. There were many mammiliform structures pointing inside in the wall of the vascular channels,a hallmark feature allowing its differentiation from splenic hemangioma pathologically. Conclusion The CT and MRI findings of LCA can show some of its characteristic signs, especially on DWI,which can assist to identify LCA in clinical practice.

Objective To evaluate the effect of dexmedetomidine on noise-induced hearing loss in guinea pigs. Methods Twenty-four adult male guinea pigs, aged 3 months, weighing 400-500 g,were randomly divided into 3 groups (n =8 each) using a random number table:dexmedetomdine group (group D),noise-induced hearing loss group (group N) and dexmedetomidine + noise-induced hearing loss group (group DN).A loading dose of dexmedetomidine 5 μg/kg was infused over 5 min, followed by 135 min of infusion at a rate of 10 μg· kg-1 · h-1.The equal volume of normal saline was infused in group N.Groups N and DN were exposed to noise of 4 kHz center frequency and 118-122 dB SPL for 120 min starting from 20 min of administration.Mean arterial pressure (MAP) and cochlear blood flow (COBF) were recorded before administration and every 5 min during drug administration. The changing rate of COBF was calculated.Arterial blood samples were collected for determination of plasma concentration of noradrenaline (NE) by high performance liquid chromatography at 20 and 140 min of administration.Auditory brainstem response (ABR) threshold was recorded before administration and at 1 and 72 h and 10 days after the end of administration. Results Compared with group N,MAP was significantly decreased, the changing rate of COBF was increased at 5-10 min and 30-140 min of administration,ABR threshold was decreased at 1 and 72 h and 10 days after the end of administration, and the plasma concentration of NE was decreased at 140 min of administration in D + N group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Dexmedetomidine can attenuate noise-induced hearing loss in guinea pigs possibly through inhibiting activation of sympathetic nerves and increasing COBF.

Objective To investigate the relationship between carotid stiffness and coronary angiography in elderly patients with coronary heart disease(CHD). Methods Thirty-five elderly patients with CHD who underwent coronary angiography were enrolled in the study. The carotid stiffness was measured by ultrasound, the results were compared with those in hypertension group, hyperlipemia group and healthy elderly group. Results There were significant differences in carotid tensity (8.15 ± 1.54), arteriectasis ( 0.34 ± 0.07 ) and carotid stiffness ( 640.51 ± 150.98 ) of elderly patients with CHD compared to other groups (all P<0.05 or P < 0. 01 ). There was significant correlation between coronary angiography score and carotid stiffness in elderly patients of CHD(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusions There is close relationship between carotid atherosclerosis and coronary atherosclerosis in elderly patients with CHD.

Objective To report 3 cases of using the EXIT(ex-utero intrapartum treatment)procedure in the peri-surgical caring of congenital diaphragmatic hernia of neonatus. Methods Preparing and consulting of multiple clinical departments before operation, inhibit uterine contraction to avoid placental abruption.Keep puerperae and their babies warm.Result No complications happened to neither maternity nor neonatus. Conclusion Co-operations of multiple clinical departmens were essential to the successful using the EXIT(ex-utero intrapartum treatment)procedure in the congenital diaphragmatic hernia of neonatus.

Objective To explore the clinical modalities and diagnosis of respiratory failure due to laryngotracheal disorders in children,in order to reduce the misdiagnosis. Methods Fifteen patients(11 cases were male,4 cases were female) with respiratory failure in Intensive Care Unit, Tianjin Children′s Hospital from Jul.2006 to Jul.2009 were selected.Data including history, characteristics and results of spiral computerized tomography(CT) and reconstruction and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) were reviewed. Results The major clinical manifestations indicated that 7 cases had laryngeal stridor,6 cases had recurrent pneumonia,5 cases had cyanosis after crying, and 12 patients were complicated with respiratory failure in 12 hours.Nine cases were recovered,3 cases were given up,and 3 cases died. All patients were performed with CT about laryngohypopharynx, and the results were cyst of root of tongue in 3 cases, trachea pressed by cyst of parapharyngeal space in 1 case. There were 11 cases examined by spiral CT and reconstruction,in which 6 cases were confirmed as tracheal stenosis,2 cases were left bifid tracheostoma,2 cases were pulmonary artery sling, and 1 case was diagnosed as tracheomalacia.Chest X-ray radiograph indicated that bronchopneumonia in 8 cases, bronchitis in 3 cases and negative in 4 cases.Echocardiograph examination was performed among 11 cases,in which 2 cases were pulmonary artery sling,2 cases were atrial septal defect,1 case was patent ductus arteriosus, and 6 cases were negative. Conclusions There is high morbidity of respiratory failure caused by laryngotracheal disorders in infants, but misdiagnosis ccures usually because of non-specific symptoms. If the infant must depend on mechanic ventilation for a long time and has airway obstruction,he should be examined early by using spiral CT.

Stress urinary incontinence is one of the most common diseases in urinary system. At present, the major methods for treating stress urinary incontinence include medication,physico-behavior therapy and operation. However, for various reasons, the current methods do not yield satisfactory results. As a newly emerging technique, tissue engineering provides a new concept and method to treat stress urinary incontinence. The application of tissue engineering in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence is reviewed in this article.

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(05):-
Objective To explore the method of culture of rat adipose-derived stem cells(ADSCs) and differentiation induction into myoblasts. Methods Adipose tissues were obtained from SD rats, and were isolated by enzyme digestion and cultured into ADSCs.The expression of surface antigen CD90,CD105 and CD34 was detected by immunofluorescence and flow cytometry.ADSCs of the second passage with logarithmic growth were obtained, and culture media containing 5-azacytidine(5-aza) and basic culture media were employed for cells in induction group and control group, respectively. The induction lasted for 7 d,14 d,21 d,28 d and 35 d,respectively.Cell growth and cell morphology were observed by inverted phase contrast microscope, and immunofluorescence and flow cytometry were utilized to detect the expression of myoblast specific antigens desmin and myosin. Results ADSCs were successfully isolated and cultured, and were identified to be stem cells. On the 28th day of induction, cells in induction group displayed "swirl" morpholgy, and multinucleation was observed. It was revealed by immunofluorescence and flow cytometry that the highest expression rates of desmin and myosin were 52.57% and 50.04%,respectively on the 28th day of induction, while there was no expression before induction and in control group. Conclusion ADSCs can be isolated and cultured from rat adipose tissues, and can further differentiate into myoblasts after induction by culture media with 5-aza.The expression of myoblast specific antigen is the highest on the 28th day of induction.
