Objective To investigate the expression of E-cadherin in prostate cancer and its relationship with PSA. Methods E-cadherin expression of 56 prostate cancer samples were studied by immunohistochemical stain and its expression level was analyzed with respect to T-PSA, F-PSA and F/T ratio. Results 24 patients (43%) were normal and 32 patients (57%) were aberrant in E-cadherin expression. E-cadherin was related significantly to the grade and stage of cancer and the changes of F/T ratio. There were no significant relationship between E-cadherin expression and T-PSA or F-PSA. Conclusions E-cadherin expression may act as a marker to the malignant degree and the prognosis of the prostate cancer.

Objective To analyze the changes of electroencephalographic activities during fully automated simultaneous peripheral arteriovenous exchange transfusion(ET) in neonates with hyperbilirubinemia. Methods A total of 45 neonates who suffered from severe hyperbilirubinemia and underwent fully automated simultaneous peripheral arteriovenous exchange transfusion were studied from March 2009 to March 2016 in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, and 46 ETs were performed in 45 babies who were divided into 2 groups according to the severity of hyperbilirubinemia:the encephalopathy group and the none-encephalopathy group.Nineteen patients were in the encephalopathy group,in which 11 were male and 8 were female. The other 26 patients were in the none-encephalopathy group,in which 15 were male and 11 were female.Changes in amplitude integrated electroencephalogram(aEEG) during ETs were analyzed, including background activities,sleep-wake cycle (SWC)and seizures. Results Forty-five patients with hyperbilirubinemia underwent 46 fully automated simultaneous peripheral arteriovenous ETs.As a result, total bilirubin dropped from (524.90 ± 110.96)μmol/L before ETs to (245.62 ±78.97) μmol/L after ETs,with clearance rate of 53.2%.And indirect bilirubin dropped from(486.16 ±90.39) μmol/L before ETs to(222.19 ± 79.49) μmoL/L after ETs,with clearance rate of 54.3%.On the other hand, there was no significant difference in the changes of electroencephalographic activities during ETs,including background activities (x2 =0.16,P > 0.05),SWC (x2 =0.71,P > 0.05) and seizures (x2 =0.30,P > 0.05).However,there were significant difference in suppressions on background activities between the encephalopathy group and the none-encephalopathy group(Fisher's exact test P =0.042),though there were no significant statistical differences in SWC or seizures between the 2 groups (x2 =0.65,P > 0.05;x2 =2.07,P > 0.05,respectively).Conclusions In neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, fully automated simultaneous peripheral arteriovenous ET is safe and efficient without significant influence on electroencephalographic activities as a whole. However, background activities are more significantly depressed in infants of bilirubin encephalopathy than that of non-encephalopathy during ET.

Objective To study the surgical treatment of major blood vessels invaded by tumors in order to raise the resection rate and postoperative survival rate. Methods Clinical data were analyzed on 26 patients undergoing (resection) of tumors along with reconstruction of major blood vessels from October 1998 to February 2004. Results Tweety-three cases were followed up for 2~65 months with median 42.8 months. Doppler ultrosonography and CTA examination were performed respectively during the follow-up process. In 5 patients with carcinoma of the head of pancreas who had inferior vein cava replaced and in 1 patient with cholangiocarcinoma who had portal vein replaced,3 were complicated with carcinoma embolism formation at 3,12 and 15 months respectively after surgery,(postoperative) graft patency was 50%;all of the 6 patients had recurrence of the tumor at 3,6,8,12,24 and 31 months respectively after surgery.Seven patients with tumor in pelvic cavity or in posterior space of peritoneum were followed up for about 2 years,1 of them had tumor recurrence ,but the graft kept patent,2 patients with sarcoma in the limbs were followed up for 1 year without tumor recurrence or vessel obstruction.Eleven patients with tumors in the neck were followed up for 3 months to 5 years without tumor recurrence or vessel obstruction. Conclusions (Combination) of resection of neoplasm and reconstruction of major blood vessels is safe, effective and practical method for patients with major wessels invaded by tumor.

Background and purpose:The membrane cytoskeletal crosslinker—Ezrin may be involved in several functions including cell adhesion, motility and cell survival. There is increasing evidence that it regulates tumor progression. However, the role of Ezrin in the carcinogenesis, progression and metastasis of primary sporadic colorectal carcinoma is still under investigation. This research is to study the expression, the localization and the clinical significance of Ezrin in human sporadic colorectal carcinoma(SCRC).Methods:Immunohistological EnVision staining was used to detect the expression of Ezrin in 132 cases of human sporadic colorectal carcinoma and 43 adjacent normal colorectal mucosa, and the different expressions of Ezrin among metastatic and non-metastatic SCRC,including 74 metastatic cases and 58 non-metastatic cases were also under investigation.Results:① The expression rate of Ezrin in SCRC was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal colorectal mucosa(79.5% Vs 11.6%,P

Journal of Third Military Medical University 1988;0(05):-
Objective To investigate the protective effect of chloroquine on endotoxemia mice and its inhibition on the release of cytokines induced by LPS. Methods A total of 40 mice of Kunming species were randomly divided into four groups: LPS group received LPS at 10 mg/kg, chloroquine group received chloroquine at 20 mg/kg, LPS plus chloroquine group received chloroquine at 20 mg/kg first, then LPS at 10 mg/kg and control group received only 0.9%sodium chloride at 200 ?l/20 g. The mortality was observed within seven days after injection via caudal vein. ANA 1 cell lines were cultivated in vitro . After chloroquine was first added into the cells for 3 hours, the releases of TNF ? and IL 6 in the supernatants induced by different concentrations of LPS were measured. Results Chloroquine could decrease the death of mice due to endotoxin. Mortality dropped from 100% to 50% ( P

Objective To investigate the effect of sevoflurane postconditioning on the renal injury induced by hind limb ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) in rats. Methods Twenty-four healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 200-250 g,were randomly assigned into 3 groups (n =8 each):sham operation group (group S),group I/R and sevoflurane group (group Spo).Limb ischemia was induced by occlusion of bilateral hind limbs for 4 h followed by 6 h reperfusion. In group Spo,sevoflurane was inhaled for 6 h at the end-tidal concentration of 2.5 % before reperfusion, while pure oxygen was inhaled instead of sevoflurane in groups S and I/R.Blood samples were taken from the inferior vena cava at 6 h of reperfusion to determine the serum blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Cr) concentrations. The rats were then sacrificed and the kidney was removed for determination of superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and contents of malondialdehyde (MDA),tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) and for microscopic examination. Results The levels of BUN,Cr,MDA,TNF-α and IL-6 were significantly higher, the SOD content was significantly lower (P < 0.05),and the pathological damage was severer in groups I/R and Spo than in group S.Compared with group I/R,the levels of BUN,Cr,MDA,TNF-α and IL-6 were significantly decreased, the SOD content was significantly increased (P < 0.05),and the pathological damage was attenuated in group S.Conclusion Sevoflurane postconditioning can reduce the renal injury induced by hind limb I/R in rats, and the reduction of oxygen radical release and inhibition of inflammatory response may be involved in the mechanism.
