1.Adjuvant effect of flavored Siwu granules for phlegm and blood stasis mutual junction retinal vein occlusion

AIM: To evaluate the effect of flavored Siwu granules in the clinical adjuvant treatment for phlegm and blood stasis mutual junction retinal vein occlusion.
METHODS: Sixty patients (60 eyes) were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, both with retinal laser photocoagulation and intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide, but the treatment group used flavored siwu granules. Vision, fundus change, fundus fluorescein angiography, clinical syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine ( TCM ), hemorheology examination and safety assessment were evaluated before and 8wk after treatment.
RESULTS: At 8wk after treatment, there were differences on vision improvement, retinal circulation time, whole blood low shear viscosity and total efficient rate of clinical syndrome of TCM, compared with control group(P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Flavored siwu granules adjuvant for phlegm and blood stasis mutual junction retinal vein occlusion can improve visual acuity and reduce the eye complications.
2.Clinical Analysis of 17 Patients with Contrast-induced Nephropathy.

Objective To determine the risk factors of Contrast-induced Nephropathy(CIN)and discuss means of minimizing the risk or preventing this complication.Methods A retrospective analysis of the data of 17 patients who were confirmed CIN in The Second Affiliated Hospital of Guzngzhou Medical College from 2004.6-2005.12 was admin- istrated.The contrast medium was lopamidol,doses varied from 70 mL to 150 mL.Serum creatinine(Scr)was meas- ured before and day 2,day 7 after angiography.Results Scr elevation of all the patients was 82.35?99.10?mol/Lat day 2.Scr of 11 patients returned to normal at day 7(103.82?20.49)?mol/L,the other 6 still remain high level (437.83?335.85)?mol/L and 3 of them needed hemodialysis therapy.Conclusion Risk factors of CIN include baseline Scr elevation,congestive heart failure,diabetes,high doses of contrast medium and concomitant use of nephro- toxic drugs.Contrast medium should be used at the minimal dose necessary in patients preexisting renal impairment.Di- uretics and other nephrotoxic drugs should be withheld for at least 24 hours before and after exposure to contrast medium. Additional fluids and hemofiltration should be given to prevent CIN.
3.Clinical evaluation of LASEK for residual myopia following phakic posterior chamber implantable contact lens implantation in extreme high myopic eyes

Background Phakic posterior chamber implantable contact lens (PPC-ICL) or phakic posterior chamber Toric implantable contact lens (PPC-TICL) implantation is an effective way for the correction of high myopia or high myopia with astigmia,but it often has residual myopic power.Excimer laser-assisted subepithelial keratectomy (LASEK) can correct the residual myopia following PPC-ICL or PPC-TICL,but its effectiveness and safety deserve attention.Objective This study was to analyze the clinical effectiveness and safety of LASEK for residual myopia after PPC-ICL implantation for extreme high myopia.Methods A prospective cases-observational study was performed,and written informed consent was obtained from each patient before any surgery.Fourteen eyes of 9 patients with residual myopia following PPC-ICL or PPC-TICL for the eyes with spherical equivalent refraction of ≥-20.00 D were collected in the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University from July 2010 to March 2015,including PPCICL implantation in 8 eyes and PPC-TICL implantation in 6 eyes.LASEK were performed on the eyes to correct the residual myopic power.Uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA),best corrected visual acuity (BCVA),haze,the distance of intraocular lens to lens,corneal thickness,corneal topography,corneal endothelial cell counting,intraocular pressure (IOP) and fundus were examined and compared before and after surgery.The effectiveness and safety of the surgery were evaluated.Results The operation was smooth and no complication was found after surgery in all of the eyes.The UCVA and BCVA were significantly different in the eyes among before surgery,6 months after PPC-ICL implantation and 12 months after LASEK (F =31.360,1.778;both at P<0.05),and the UCVA after LASEK was higher than BCVA before LASEK.The refractive powers were (-22.27-±4.29),(-3.75±2.25) and (-0.42±0.63) D before surgery,6 months after PPC-ICL implantation and 12 months after LASEK,showing a significant difference among them (F=46.370,P<0.05),and the refractive power was considerably lower after LASEK than that before surgery and after PPC-ICL implantation (both at P<0.05).No significant difference was found in IOP or corneal endothelial cell counting in operated eyes among before surgery,6 months after PPC-ICL implantation and 12 months after LASEK (F=1.663,1.055;both at P>0.05).The distance of intraocular lens to lens was (0.69±0.26)mm in the eyes after LASEK and (0.71 ±0.29)mm in the eyes after PPC-ICL implantation,with no significant difference between them (t =0.192,P>0.05).Conclusions PPC-ICL or PPC-TICL implantation for the correction extreme high myopia often remains a certain degree of myopia,and LASEK for the correction of residual refractive power is safe and effective.
4.Effect of Siji Kangbingdu Mixture on Inhibition of the Proliferation of Coxsackievirus A16

Objective To verify the antiviral effects of Siji Kangbingdu mixture (SJKBDM) against coxsackievirus A16 (CoxA16).Methods Vero cells and 5-day-old suckling mice, injected with 75/50 and 1×106 TCID50 CoxA16, were used as evaluation models.The preventive influences of SJKBDM against CoxA16 in Vero cells were assessed in the models.The effects of SJKBDM on the mortality, survival time, change rate of body weight, and clinical symptom scores of suckling mice were observed.Results ①The half maximal inhibitory concentration of SJKBDM on Vero cells was 9.59 mg·mL-1.②Toxic effects were not observed from 32.3 g·kg-1 single dose or continuous intraperitoneal injectin of SJKBDM in suckling BALB/c mice.③The SJKBDM had significant inhibitory effect against CoxA16 virus.Doses higher than 1.22 mg·mL-1 could significantly improve the Vero cell survival rate, and the SJKBDM inhibition of 75/50 TCID50 CoxA16 induced pathological changes in Vero cells.④The SJKBDM significantly improved clinical symptoms of mice with CoxA16 viral infection, especially with crude drug doses of higher than 1.62 g·kg-1.The survival rate and other indicators were comparable or slightly higher compared with ribavirin, and the clinical score was higher than that of ribavirin.Conclusion The SJKBDM has significant inhibitory effect on CoxA16 cell proliferation, significantly decreases death rate, and improves clinical symptoms of mice infected with CoxA16 virus.
6.Study on preparation of phenols gastric floating tablet.

OBJECTIVETo study the preparation of phenols gastric floating tablet.
METHODThe tablets which were prepared using Eudragit IV, HPMC(K4M), MCC101 and Octadecanol as excipients were evaluated by vitro floatation and releasing performance. The pressure of preparationg was also study to select the optimal preparation.
RESULTThe tablets were successfully prepared in which the drug, Eudragit IV, Octadecanol were 31% respectively,and MCC101 was 7%. And 3-4 kg was found to be the eligible pressure.
CONCLUSIONThe study was found to be effective in the process of phenols gastric floating tablet.

Objective To explore the effect of adenovirus carrying pigment epithelium-derived factor(ADV-PEDF)gene treatment on retinal neovascularization of mice with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).Methods Sixty 7 d C57BL/6J mice were put into the environment with (750?5)mL/L oxygen for 5 days and returned to normal environment to establish animal models of ROP.The eyes in experimental group received an intravitreal injection of 1 ?L of ADV-PEDF,and the same volume of ADV-LacZ was injected into the eyes of mice in control group.The ADPase histochemical staining was used for retinal flatmount to observe changes of retinal vessels.The inhibitory effects of PEDF on retinal neovascularization were evaluated by counting the endotheliocyte nuclei of new vessels extending from retina to vitreous in the tissue-slice.The expression of PEDF in retina were detected by Western blotting.Results The vessels from optic disc were very thin and distorted in eyes of control group in retinal flatmount.There were avascular area around optic disc and neovascular trufts beside avascular area.Compared with control group,regular distributions and no conspicuous avascular area were found in eyes of experiment group in retinal flatmount.The number of the endotheliocyte nuclei of new vessels extending from retina to vitreous was less in the eyes of the experiment group than that in control group (P

9.Effects of suxiao jiuxin pill on patients with acute coronary syndrome undergoing early percutaneous coronary intervention.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the intervention effects of Suxiao Jiuxin Pill (SJP) on patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing early percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
METHODSSixty ACS patients were randomly assigned to the treatment group (treated by SJP and Western medicine) and the control group (treated by Western medicine alone), 30 in each group. Coronary arteriography and early PCI were performed in all patients. The effects of SJP on the blood flow rate, the collateral artery patency, and perioperative myocardial infarction incidence were observed.
RESULTSThe coronary blood flow rate was better in the treatment group than in the control group either pre- or post-PCI. [pre-PCI thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) level III: 16/30 vs 11/30, P < 0.01; post-PCI TIMI level III: 14/14 vs 13/19, P < 0.05)]. In patients with ITMI level 0 - I , more patients in the treatment group had collateral artery protective function than those in the control group (5/6 vs 3/13, P < 0.05). The incidence of perioperative myocardial infarction was obviously lower in the treatment group than in the control group (8/30 vs 15/30, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSJP could improve the pre- and post-PCI coronary artery flow rate, increase the collateral artery patency, and reduce the incidence of perioperative myocardial infarction of ACS patients.
