To observe the effect of autologous stem cell transplantation in diabetic retinopathy.
●METHODS:Totally 58 cases (116 eyes) who underwent autologous stem cell transplantation were confirmed as no diabetic retinopathy (18 eyes), mild non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) (41 eyes), mid-level NPDR (51 eyes); severe NPDR (6 eyes) by ophthalmoscope directly or indirectly and fluorescence fundus angiography (FFA ). Follow - up was 6 - 12mo, the changes of retinopathy were observed.
●RESULTS: The total effective rate of vision and retinopathy was 84. 4%, 76. 7%. The results of severe NPDR was statistically worse than the other groups ( P <0. 05).
●CONCLUSlON: The stable blood glucose level and improved pancreatic function after autologous stem cell transplantation might be helpful in diabetic retinopathy, the long effects need to be researched further.

Objective To investigate the useful parameters of transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) for the diagnosis of stroke subtypes in patients with acute cerebral infarction.Methods One hundred and one acute ischemic stroke patients met all of the following criteria including ≥50 years of age,normal sinus rhythm on admission,and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) within 7 days from the onset.The clinical significance of the TEE parameters on admission was examined for identifying intracardiac thrombus formation as follows; left atrial dimension,left ventricular end-diastolic dimension,percentage fractional shortening,left ventricular mass index,ratio of the transmitral inflow velocities (E/A),and the deceleration time of the E wave.Results There were 28 patients with E/A ≥ 1.0 (70 ± 12) years old and 73 with E/A ＜ 1.0 (73 ± 10) years old.No patients showed pulmonary congestion on chest radiography.There were no significant differences in age,TTE parameters,and plasma levels of brain natriuretic peptide between the two groups.Patients with E/A≥ 1.0 had higher incidence of left atrial appendage (LAA)thrombus formation and/or spontaneous echograhic contrast than those with ＜ 1.0 (25.0％ vs 5.5％,x2 =7.95,P ＜0.01).A significant relationship was found between E/A and emptying flow velocity of the LAA (r =-0.569,P ＜0.01).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed E/A was an independent predictor for LAA thrombus (risk ratio 1.531 per0.1 increase,95％ confidence interval 1.129-2.076,P =0.0002).Conclusions Increased level of E/A on admission was associated with the occurrence of left atrial appendage thrombus formation in patients with acute ischemic stroke.

The effects of application of in-process quality control in Guizhi Fuling capsule production were evaluated by 192 batches data analysis. Using a statistical analysis method, each batch of data were to be counted to research for the difference between 96 samples adopting the technologies of in-process control or not. According to quality standards of Guizhi Fuling capsule, all measurements of the 192 batches of the drugs before and after the application of process control technology were analyzed, and they were within the rules. There was a significant difference between adopting the technologies of process control or not. Application of in-process control technology can improve the uniformity of lot-to-lot for Guizhi Fuling capsule.

Objective To sum up our experience of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in an elderly critical coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient with endotracheal intubation, providing references for the application of HBOT in COVID-19 treatment. Methods and results The patient was 87 years old male and presented coma symptoms on Feb. 3, 2020. Chest computed tomography (CT) showed multiple small flake fuzzy shadows in both lungs. The nucleic acid test of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid was positive on Feb.5 and the diagnosis of COVID-19 was confirmed. After symptomatic and supportive treatment, the patient's condition became stable gradually, and the tracheal intubation was removed on Feb. 22. However, the patient was intubated again on Feb. 24 because of loss of coughing and sputum expelling abilities, and the patient's condition was judged to be critical. On Feb. 29, the patient received HBOT for the first time, and medical staff entered the hyperbaric oxygen cabin through the special channel. After HBOT for four times, arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) and arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) of the patient tended to be stable, carbon dioxide retention was alleviated, liver and kidney function improved, and coagulation function recovered. On Mar. 6, SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin (Ig) test showed that SARS-CoV-2 IgM was negative and SARS-CoV-2 IgG was positive. The patient was then transferred to general wards. Conclusion HBOT can alleviate CO2 retention in critical COVID-19 patients, and has a positive effect on reducing hypoxia and protecting important organs. The HBOT infection control procedure is feasible, and the safety of medical staff can be guaranteed by reasonable design.

Objective To establish a new determination method for the measuring of alkaline phosphatase activity (ALP) with p-acetyl phenyl phosphace (PAP-PNa_2) as substrate.Methods With the help of Vital semiautomatic analyzer,researched a continuous-monitoring procedure and set up experimental parameters.Results When using this assay,the wavelength of PAP's absorption was 325 nm and the Km of ALP was 0.376 mmol/L.The molecular extinction coefficient of PAP at 340 nm was 23 390 L?mol~(-1)? cm~(-1) and the concentration of citrate buffer was 0.438 mol/L.During the process,we found that the optimum pH of enzyme was 10.4,and the concentration of substrate was 5.0 mmol/L.The time of linear reaction was 900 seconds,and the linear range was 0-1 110 U/L.Serum total ALP were 63.1-118.3 U/ L(male) and 52.5-89.0 U/L(female),based on results from 60 heath adults.Conclusions The method is practical in its repetition and convenience,saves time and is not liable to be affected by bilirubin in serum.It is especially suited to the use of automatic analyzers.

AlM:To investigate the prevalence of pterygium of the household population aged 40 and above in Hengli Town of Dongguan.
METHODS: Using the method of cluster random sampling, select 3 628 people aged 40 and above in four villages and one community for visual examination, intraocular pressure check, slit lamp examination and questionnaire.
RESULTS: The actual number of subjects was 3 393 people, and examination rate was 93. 52%. We detected 843 patients with pterygium. The prevalence of pterygium was 24. 85%.
CONCLUSlON:There is high prevalence of pterygium in Dongguan area. The prevalence of pterygium is related with age and working environment, but has no relation with gender.

Objective: To research the activity of antibacterial proteins isolated from Musca domestica during larvae-pupae metamorphosis. Methods: The 5-day-old larvae of Musca domestica were injured with a needle. 24h later, the larvae which had changed into pupae were selected. The antibacterial protein was isolated by a four-step protocol including grinding, heating, CM-sepharose F. F. cationexchange chromatography and another CM-sepharose F. F. chromatography. Antibacterial activities of samples were tested by an ultrasensitive radial diffusion assay using Staphylococcus aureus as the indicator organism. The molecular weight of the isolated protein was determined by SDS-PAGE.Results: The molecular weight of this isolated protein was 43kDa, and its antibacterial activity was strong. Conclusions: A kind of protein with strong antibacterial activity can be produced in the Musca domestica during larvae-pupae metamorphosis.
