4.Sheng's acupuncture manipulation at bone-nearby acupoints and the academic thoughts.
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2014;34(11):1111-1113
Sheng's acupuncture manipulation at bone-nearby acupoints is a set of needling manipulation of the chief physician of TCM, SHENG Xie-sun, summarized through his over 50 years clinical experiences and on the basis of Internal Classic. Regarding this manipulation, on the premise of acupoint selection based on syndrome differentiation, the acupoints close to bone are possibly selected and punctured, with the needle tip toward bone edge, and followed by the technique to achieve reducing purpose. Clinically, the significant immediate analgesia can be achieved in pain disorders such as headache and toothache. Professor Sheng thought, corresponding to the location of needle insertion and needling depth, the tissue layers of needle tip passing through should be considered specially. The site of needle insertion should be changeable so as to ensure the needle tip reaching the bone. This manipulation for analgesia provides a certain guide for acupuncture study, especially for the mechanism study on acupuncture analgesia.

Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2017;23(6):734-736
Objective To evaluate the effects of Achilles tendon lengthening on talipes equinus in children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods From December, 2013 to June, 2014, seventeen spastic cerebral palsy children with talipes equinus (34 feet) received Achilles ten-don lengthening. Ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (ROM) and surface electromyography from tibialis anterior and medial head of gastroc-nemius were measured before and 8 to 12 months after operation, respectively. ROM of passive and active dorsiflexion, root mean square (RMS) of tibia muscle group and co-contraction ratio (CR) when standing were compared. Results The ROM of ankle passive and active dorsiflexion increased (Z>4.867, P<0.001), while the RMS of gastrocnemius muscle decreased when ankle passively dorsiflex (t=4.31, P<0.001). RMS of tibialis anterior and gastrocnemius muscle changed little when standing (Z<1.291, P>0.05), while CR reduced (t=2.38, P<0.05). Conclusion Achilles tendon lengthening can improve the coordination of tibia muscle group to increase the ROM of ankle for chil-dren with talipes equinus after spastic cerebral palsy.

Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) is a non-selective positive ion channel that is mainly expressed in sensory neurons and a member of transient receptor potential (TRP) family. The receptor could be activated by mechanical irritation, chemical irritation or endogenous ligand to mediate pains and cause injury to body functions. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the mechanism of pain is that "stagnation leads to pain". Specifically, both of the contracture and tautness caused by cold and the blood stasis could result in blood impassability and pain. Most of traditional Chinese medicines for clearing heat and removing toxicity have the anti-inflammatory effect, while those for warming interior, and promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis have the effect in smoothening blood vessels. Therefore, either with the anti-inflammatory effect or the effect in smoothening blood vessels, traditional Chinese medicines for clearing heat and removing toxicity, warming interior, and promoting blood circulation have the analgesic effect In this paper, the authors summarize the analgesic effect of the above three traditional Chinese medicines, with TRPV1 as the target.

Objective To investigate the effect of atorvastatin calcium on serum endothelin-1(ET-1), polyamine oxidase(PAO), heart-type fatty acid binding protein(H-FABP), vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), 100β, inflammatory cytokines and nerve function in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods According to the random number table, 113 patients were randomly divided into two groups (n=61) and control group (n=52).The control group received conventional treatment methods, and observation group received atorvastatin calcium on the basis of control group. The treatment course was two weeks.Serum ET-1, PAO, H-FABP, VEGF, S100β, inflammatory cytokines and NIHSS score were compared between two groups before treatment, 7d and 14d after treatment. Results The serum levels of ET-1, PAO, H-FABP after 7d, 14d treatment of observation group was significantly lower than that of control group, respectively (P<0.05).The VEGF level of observation group after 7 d, 14 d treatment of observation group was significantly higher than that of control group, respectively (P<0.05).The S100βlevel after 7 d, 14 d treatment of observation group was significantly lower than that of control group, respectively (P<0.05).The hs-CRP, IL-8, TNF-αlevels after 7 d, 14 d treatment of observation group was significantly lower than that of control group, respectively (P<0.05).NIHSS score after treatment of observation group was significantly lower than that of control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The atorvastatin calcium can improve neurological function in patients with brain injury through reducing serum ET-1, PAO, H-FABP and S100βlevels, promote angiogenesis through increasing VEGF expression, and alleviate inflammation and ischemia-reperfusion injury through reducing inflammatory cytokines, thereby promote neurological functional recovery.
