ObjectiveTo evaluate the role of multi-slice CT(MSCT) reconstruction in the diagnosis of intracranial foreign bodies.MethodsMSCT scans were performed in 16 patients with intracranial foreign bodies. The volumetric data were reconstructed in the workstation. 5 patients were detected by CT angiography (CTA) examination. Imaging results were then compared with findings found during surgery.Results11 foreign bodies located in one brain lobe, 3 passed two brain lobes, 2 located in ventricle. Among them, 6 cases were closed to parietal including 2 cases closed to cerebral arterial circle. 14 patients were operated and extirpated 18 foreign bodies. Compared with surgical findings, the orientative accuracy of reconstruction imaging was 100%, qualitative accuracy was 85.7%.ConclusionMSCT reconstruction may display the intracranial foreign bodies from multi-angles. It is propitious to know the characteristics, location and whole shape of the foreign bodies for the surgeon before the operation, accordingly to make a best operation project.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2014;34(2):115-119
OBJECTIVETo observe the short-term and long-term efficacies on primary dysmenorrhea treated with staging acupoint embedment therapy.
METHODSSeventy cases of primary dysmenorrhea were randomized into an embedment therapy group and a fenbid group, 35 cases in each one. In the embedment therapy group, the embedment therapy was applied twice during the menstrual cycle, one treatment 3 days before menstruation and one treatment during the 12th-14th days of menstruation, respectively. Guanyuan (CV 4), Zigong (EX-CA 1), Diji (SP 8) and Ciliao (BL 32) were the main acupoints in the treatment 3 days before menstruation. Shenshu (BL 23), Ganshu (BL 18) and Pishu (BL 20) were the main acupoints in the treatment during menstruation. In the fenbid group, fenbid was prescribed for oral administration, 0.3 g each time, twice a day, starting 3 days before menstruation till pain was relieved. The treatment of one menstrual cycle was one session. The continuous treatment of 3 menstrual cycles was required. The short-term and long-term efficacies were evaluated at the end of the 3rd cycle and in 3 months after the treatment terminal. The dysmenorrhea score was used to evaluate the efficacy. Visual analogue scale (VAS) and SF-36 were for the assessment of pain degree and life quality.
RESULTS(1) The total effective rate was 91.4% (32/35) in the embedment therapy group after the 3 menstrual cycles, which was better than 74.3% (26/35) in the fenbid group (P < 0.01). In the follow-up stage, the total effective rate was 91.4% (32/35) in the embedment therapy group, which was better than 40.0% (14/35) in the fenbid group (P < 0.01). (2) The differences were not significant in dysmenorrhea score and VAS score after the 1st and 2nd menstrual cycle treatments between the two groups (all P > 0.05). In the 3rd menstrual cycle and the follow-up stage, the dysmenorrhea score and VAS score were reduced obviously in the embedment therapy group as compared with those in the fenbid group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). The rebound effect occurred in the follow-up stage in the fenbid group. (3) In the 3rd menstrual cycle and the follow-up stage, the improvement in the total score of life quality of the embedment therapy group was superior apparently to the fenbid group (P < 0.05, P < 0. 01).
CONCLUSIONThe staging acupoint embedment therapy achieves the superior short-term and long-term efficacies as compared with the oral administration of fenbid in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea. As the symptoms of dysmenorrhea and pain are relieved, the life quality is improved.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;30(1):73-77
BackgroundThe research of corneal thickness after pars plana vitrectomy in DM patient plays an important role not only theoretically but clinically. Objective Present study was to evaluate the change in corneal thickness after pars plana vitrectomy. Methods A prospective coherent study was designed.Seventy-five eyes of 70 consecutive diabetic retinopathy(DR) patients were collected in Tianjin Medical University Eye Center.Pentacam was used to assess the central and periphery corneal thickness by the same investigator preoperatively and 7 days,1 and 3 months postoperatively, respectively. The thickness values from five corneal zone were obtained, including cornea vertex, the thinnest point of the cornea, periphery cornea near the scleral incision of 4 mm away to vertex of cornea on vertical and 240°,120°,60° meridian ( right eye) or 300°,120°,60° meidian ( left eye ).These results were compared and analyzed with ANOVA of repeated measurement data.Subgroup analysis was performed to evaluate the influence of different corneal positions, the use of conventional 20g or 23g transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy(TSV) groups, surgery duration, gas or fluid endotamponde on corneal thickness. This study was approved by Ethic Committee of this hospital.Written informed consent was obtained from the subjects before any relative medical procedure. Results The mean corneal thickness was ( 639.9 ± 103.1 ),( 689.5 ± 119.3 ),( 666.5 ±113.7),( 650.8 ± 108.6 ) μm before operation, postperative 7 days,1 and 3 months respectively. As covariates appearing in the model, the corneal thickness change rates were revised as the parameters as following: diabeitc duration =13.0 and age =57.2.The revised corneal thickness was significant different among various time points( F=210.928,P=0.000) and different corneal zones(F=24.843,P=0.000) with the size order in turn P4>P3>P1>P2>P5.The corneal thickness change rates were less in 23g TSV group compared with conventional 20-g group (F =53.843,P =0.000) and BSS tamponade group compared with gas tamponade group ( F =5.288,P =0.022).But no significant difference was found in the revised corneal thickness among surgery duration < 1 hour group,1-2 hour group and >2 hour group( F=1.233,P =0.293).ConclusionsVitrectomy is a safe procedure on the ground of cornea, but TSV and fluid endotamponade appear to be more beneficial to the protection of cornea.Pentacam could offer the reliable data in not only central cornea but also periphery cornea.

International Eye Science 2016;16(10):1875-1878
AIM: To explore the effect of different corneal incision size on change in tear function after phacoemulsification cataract surgery in type 2 diabetics.
●METHODS:One hundred and fifty patients with type 2 diabetes (150 eyes) from Jan. 2015 to Oct. 2015 in our hospital were enrolled. The patients were randomly divided into two groups. Seventy-five patients (75 eyes) in group A: coaxial 2. 2mm micro - incision phacoemulsification cataract extraction and intraocular lens (lOL) implantation; seventy-five patients (75 eyes) in group B:the conventional coaxial 3. 0mm small incision phacoemulsification cataract extraction and lOL implantation. The difference of demographic characteristics between two groups were insignificant. The ocular surface disease index ( OSDl ) , corneal sensation, break up time (BUT) and Schirmer′sltest(Slt) were examined preoperatively and 1wk, 1, 3 and 6mo postoperatively.
●RESULTS:At 1wk, 1 and 3mo postoperatively, the OSDl score in two groups increased and the OSDl score of group B was significantly higher than those of group A and the differences were statistically significant ( all P<0. 05 ) . The corneal sensation in two groups decreased after operations and the corneal sensation of group B was significantly lower than those of group A and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0. 05). The Slt in two groups decreased after operations and the Slt of group B was significantly lower than those of group A and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0. 05). At 1wk and 1mo postoperatively, the BUT in two groups decreased after operations and the BUT of group B was significantly lower than those of group A and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0. 05). At 6mo postoperatively, no significant change was found in the OSDl score, corneal sensation, BUT and S l t of group A compared with preoperatively (all P>0. 05). At 6mo postoperatively, the differences of OSDl score and corneal sensation in group B were statistically significant compared with preoperatively ( all P< 0. 05 ) while no significant change was found in the BUT and S l t of group B (all P>0. 05).
●CONCLUSION:Phacoemulsification surgery with 2. 2mm corneal micro-incision has less effect on change in tear function comparing to the 3. 0 mm incision control, which can be applied particularly in patients with type 2 diabetes.
