ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) on the secretory function of islet cells in rabbits.MethodsTwenty adult New Zealand white rabbits of both sexes, weighing 2.5-3.0kg,were randomly divided into 2 groups ( n =10 each):sham operation group (group S) and CPB group. The rabbits were anesthetized with 3% pentobarbital sodium 30 mg/kg.Blood samples were collected from the left femoral artery at 5 min after anesthesia (T1),immediately before CPB (T2 ),immediately after aortic clamping (T3 ),and at 5,35 and 75 min after aortic unclamping (T4-6) in the two groups for determination of levels of blood glucose, insulin and glucagons.Insulin resistance index was calculated.ResultsCompared with group S,the blood glucose concentration and levels of insulin and glucagons and insulin resistance index at T3-6 were significantly increased in group CPB ( P < 0.05).ConclusionAlthough increase in blood glucose enhances the secretion of insulin in islet β cells, hyperglycemia cannot be compensated completely by the increased insulin during CPB in rabbits. The increase in blood glucose may be related to islet α cell resistance.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Yangjing Zhongyu Decoction (YZD) on mRNA and protein expression of PCNA, StAR, and FSHR in ovarian granulose cells (GCs) cultured by excess androgen.
METHODSOvarian GCs from porcine follicles were isolated and cultured in vitro. Follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) or YZD was added in the GCs treated by excess testosterone propionate. Totally 48 h later mRNA and protein expression of PCNA, StAR, and FSHR were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot.
RESULTSExcess androgen inhibited mRNA and protein expression of PCNA, StAR, and FSHR of GCs. FSH and YZD could antagonize inhibition of excess androgens, and promote mRNA and protein expression of PCNA, StAR, and FSHR in GCs.
CONCLUSIONYZD could antagonize the inhibition of excess androgen on mRNA and protein expression of PCNA, StAR and FSHR in GCs. Thus, we inferred that YZD could improve the follicle dysplasia by promoting mRNA and protein expression of PCNA, StAR and FSHR in GCs.

Abstract?AIM:To investigate the effective treatment methods of corneal injury caused by chestnut thorns and the factors affecting the disease progression.?METHODS: From Jul.2014 to Oct.2015, the clinical data of 15 patients(15 eyes) with corneal injury caused by chestnut thorns in Ophthalmology Inpatient Department of Wuhan Tongji Hospital was retrospective analyzed. The patients without fungal keratitis were treated with the surgery of removing chestnut thorn from cornea and antifungal drugs. For the patients complicated with fungal keratitis, besides surgery of removing chestnut thorn and antifungal drugs, anterior chamber irrigation and corneal stroma injection with fluconazole solution were given to treat the disease. If necessary, amniotic membrane transplantation or keratoplasty was also given to the patients complicated with fungal keratitis. After that, the effectiveness of those methods and the factors affecting progression were analyzed.?RESULTS:For 11 patients without fungal keratitis, the average time between corneal injury and receiving treatment at Tongji Hospital was 1-7 (2.42±2.15) d and for 4 patients complicated with fungal keratitis, the average time was 3-30 (18.25±4.35)d.Among 15 cases, statistics suggested that the average number of chestnut thorn in patients complicated with fungal keratitis was 4.5, and all the chestnut thorn penetrated the cornea into the anterior chamber. The average number of chestnut thorn in patients without fungal keratitis was 3.5, and the proportion of chestnut thorn penetrated the cornea into the anterior chamber was 28.5%.After treatment, all patients had no new fungal keratitis or other complications. Those results indicated that the different treatments for the patients with or without fungal keratitis were all effective.?CONCLUSION:The factors affecting the progression of cornea foreign body injury caused by chestnut thorn are the number of chestnut thorn, whether chestnut thorn penetrate the cornea into the anterior chamber, time since injury, active anti -fungal therapy. If patients complicated with fungal keratitis could be treated with antifungal agents and anterior chamber irrigation or corneal stroma injection using fluconazole solution without delay, the progress of fungal keratitis could be effectively controlled, and favorable conditions for further therapy such as amniotic membrane transplantation or keratoplasty could be provided.

Objective To study the changes of substance P (SP) content in plasma of asthmatic children and in theblood, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and lung tissues of asthmatic guinea pigs and SP mRNA expression, and toinvestigate the relationship between SP and asthma of children. Methods We determined the contents of plasma SP bythe method of immunoassay at the stage of acute attack and clinical remission in 35 children with asthma. On the basis ofasthma model of guinea pigs, we examined the contents of SP in the blood, BALF and lungs. The expression of Spthat of the stage of clinical remission and normal controls ( P <0.01). At the stage of clinical remission, the differencethe blood, BALF and lungs were higher than those of normal ones ( P <0.01), and the expressions of SP mRNA inlungs were higher ( P <0.01). In repeatedly attack group, the SP content of guinea pigs was higher than that of asthmagroup ( P < 0.05), and the expression of SP mRNA in lungs was also higher ( P < 0.01 ). Conclusions SP levelsincreased in asthmatic children and asthmatic guinea pigs, and the expression of SP mRNA was up-regulated in the lungsof asthmatic guinea pigs. They were positive related to the severity of asthma. So SP has close relationship with asthmaand may play a role in the mechanism of asthma.

OBJECTIVETo study the value and the clinical application of the Medical Image three-dimensional Visualization System of Abdomen (MI-3DVS) in diagnosis and evaluating resectability of pancreatic tumor.
METHODSTwelve patients with pancreatic tumor were tested with 64-slice helical CT (64-MSCT) angiography, and the CT data was reconstructed with MI-3DVS from November 2008 to August 2009. The 3D findings were adopted in diagnosis and evaluating resectability, and the results were compared with surgical operation and the pathological finding. There were 7 male and 5 female, aged from 14 to 83 years. Within the 12 cases, there were 4 cases with pancreatic carcinoma, 5 cases with pancreatic solid pseudopapillary tumor, 2 cases with pancreatic serous cystadenoma, 1 case with pancreatic cyst (ductal epithelial papillary hyperplasia).
RESULTSNine tumors which had been regarded as removable pre-operatively with MI-3DVS were removed successfully. Three patients who were considered unresectable by other hospitals with CT were operated successfully with MI-3DVS. The other 3 patients' tumors were actually not able to be removed as pre-operative evaluation.
CONCLUSIONMI-3DVS plays an important role in diagnosis and assessment of resectability of pancreatic tumor.
