OBJECTIVETo explore therapeutic effects of Modified pinning combined with external tension band for the treatment of Gartland type III humeral supracondylar fractures in children.
METHODSFrom February 2009 to November 2010, 79 children with Gartland type III humeral supracondylar fractures were treated by modified pinning (pinning cross internal and external condyle assisted with lateral condyle) combined with external tension band (crossing needle end and hooking around) through lateral approach of elbow. There were 47 males and 32 females, with an average age of 8.7 years (ranging from 2.5 to 14 years). The time from injury to operation was 2 h to 8 d. The elbow joint function and Carrying angle were observed before and after treatment. The Flynn criteria were used to evaluate therapeutic effects.
RESULTSSixty-one patients were followed up (18 patients' data were lost) for 6-30 months (mean 13.5 months). According to Flynn criteria, 53 patients got excellent result, 7 good and 1 fair.
CONCLUSIONTreatment of child Gartland type III humeral supracondylar fractures with modified pinning combined with external tension band through lateral approach of elbow is believed to be an ideal method, which has advantages of reliable fixation, rapid recovery and less complications.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2015;32(4):730-734
Sleep quality is closely related to human health. It is very important to correctly discriminate the sleep stages for evaluating sleep quality, diagnosing and analyzing the sleep-related disorders. Polysomnography (PSG) signals are commonly used to record and analyze sleep stages. Effective feature extraction and representation is one of the most important steps to improve the performance of sleep stage classification. In this work, a collaborative representation (CR) algorithm was adopted to re-represent the original extracted features from electroencephalogram sig- nal, and then the kernel entropy component analysis (KECA) algorithm was further used to reduce the feature dimension of CR-feature. To evaluate the performance of CR-KECA, we compared the original feature, CR feature and readied CR feature (CR-PCA) after principal component analysis (PCA). The experimental results of sleep stage classification indicated that the CR-KECA method achieved the best performance compared with the original feature, CR feature, and CR-PCA feature with the classification accuracy of 68.74 +/- 0.46%, sensitivity of 68.76 +/- 0.43% and specificity of 92.19 +/- 0.11%. Moreover, CR algorithm had low computational complexity, and the feature dimension after KECA was much smaller, which made CR-KECA algorithm suitable for the analysis of large-scale sleep data.

Objective To analyze and compare the short-term efficacy and daverse reaction of postoperative adjuvant radio -chemotherapy versus simple chemotherapy in advanced gastric cancer .Methods A total of 64 patients with locally advanced gastric cancer were randomly but equally divided into 2 groups ,experimental group and control group .The experimental group patients ini-tially receive 4-cycles chemotherapy with Capecitabine Tablets 1 000 mg /m2 ,bid ,d1 - 14 plus Oxaliplatin 130 mg/m2 ,d1 ,and then receive Capecitabine Tablets 825 mg /m2 ,bid ,d1 - 35 plus 3DCRT 45 Gy/25 Fx /5 w concurrent radio-chemotherapy .Control group patients receive 6-cycles Capecitabine plus oxaliplatin combined chemotherapy .Then we observed the disease progression time ,toxic reaction ,1 year survival rate and 2 year survival rate simultaneously in two groups .Results The follow-up rate were 100% .The comparative results are listed as follows (experimental group and control group) :the rates of Ⅰ /Ⅱ grades of nausea and vomiting were 87 .50% and 62 .50% respectively (P< 0 .05) ,other adverse reactions were not statistically significant ;1-year overall survival rate and recurrence-free survival rate were 90 .63% ,87 .50% respectively (P > 0 .05) and 84 .38% ,62 .50% respectively (P <0 .05) ;2-year overall survival rate and recurrence-free survival rate were respectively 84 .38% ,59 .38% (P< 0 .05) and 75 .00% , 50 .00% respectively (P< 0 .05) .Conclusion The advantages of 3DCRT combined with Capecitabine Tablets chemoradiotherapy can raise the successful rate of local control in patients with advanced gastric cancer after operation and 4 cycles chemotherapy .The toxic reactions are tolerable for patients .

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of InVance bulbourethral sling for stress urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy. Methods Six male patients with stress urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy were treated with perineal sling (InVance) from March 2005 to March 2011,and the clinical data were analyzed. Results The operation time was 80-120 min and intra-operative blood loss was 20-50 ml.The catheter was removed at the second day after surgery. In a follow-up of 12 to 29 months,4 patients were dry,1 patient was improved, and 1 patient suffered treatment failure. There were 2 patients transient acute urinary retention and 1 patient short-term perineal pain in the main post-operative complication. In six months after the operation, urodynamic examination showed (15.9 ± 7.7) ml/s at Qmax and 0-20 ml/s at postvoid residual. Conclusion InVance bulbourethral sling for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy appears to be safe, simple in the procedure and good effect to mild and middle incontinence.
