BACKGROUND:Cannulated screw tension band combined with wire fixation is most commonly used for treatment of patel a fractures.
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical outcomes of combination of cannulated screw tension band and wire fixation in the treatment of patel a fractures.
METHODS:A literature search method was employed to retrieve relevant articles addressing cannulated screw tension band and wire fixation of patel a fractures. In-depth analysis of literatures meeting the study criteria was carried out. Patients with patel a fractures who received cannulated screw tension band and wire fixation were fol owed up to evaluate the postoperative fracture healing, complications and functional recovery of the knee joint at the injury side. Then, the clinical efficacy of cannulated screw tension band combined with wire fixation was analyzed.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After treatment with cannulated screw tension band and wire fixation, patients with patel a fractures exhibited good fracture healing and low probability of complications, including screw or wire loosening, broken, and shedding. Functional recovery of the affected knee was up to 90%. Clinical case analysis showed that cannulated screw tension band combined with wire fixation achieved good outcomes in the treatment of patel a fracture, with over 90%functional recovery of the affected knee, which is consistent with the reported results. It indicates that the cannulated screw tension band combined with wire fixation is one of the ideal and reliable methods in use for internal fixation of patel a fractures.

The stems and branches of Hypericum petiolulatum were extracted by alcohol and liquid-liquid extraction. Seven furofuran lignans were isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract of H. petiolulatum by using silica gelchromatography, Sephadex LH-20 chromatography, medium-pressure liquid chromatography and preparative HPLC. Their structures were identified by the spectroscopic methods as pinoresinol (1), medioresinol (2), 8-acetoxypinoresinol (3), epipinoresinol (4), (+)-syringaresinol (5), (+)-1-hydroxysyringaresinol (6) and erythro-buddlenolE (7). All the isolates were firstly found in H. petiolulatum. In the bioassay, compound 7 showed remarkable antioxidative activity inhibiting Fe(+2)-cystine induced rat liver microsomal lipid peroxidation with inhibitory rate 38% at a concentration of 1 x 10(-6) mol · L(-1) (positive control Vit E with the inhibitory rate of 35% at the same concentration).

OBJECTIVETo verify the pharmacological hypothesis of prescriptions by studying the targeted distribution of major components in stewed rhubarb in the rat model with acute pancreatitis (AP).

METHODNormal SD rats (control group, n = 5) and the AP model induced with intraperitoneal cerulein (model group, n = 5) were taken as the experimental objects. Rats of the two groups were orally administered with stewed rhubarb granules (20 g x kg(-1)). Their heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney and pancreas were collected two hours after the administration. Such constituents as emodin, chrysophanol, physcion, rhein and aloe-emodin and their concentrations in each tissue homogenate were detected by high performance liquid chromatography-mass-mass.

RESULTAloe-emodin and physcion in stewed rhubarb whose concentrations in liver and kidney of normal rats were higher than that in pancreatic tissues, while the distribution spectrums and concentrations of the remaining components in pancreatic tissues had no significant difference with that of other organs. The concentrations of emodin, aloe-emodin, rhein and chrysophanol in stewed rhubarb in pancreatic tissues of the AP model group were higher than that in other tissues and organs, while their concentrations in pancreatic, renal and splenic tissues were notably higher than that in the normal group.

CONCLUSIONIn the conditions of AP, effective components in stewed rhubarb show a targeted distribution feature in pancreas, which provides experimental basis for the pharmacological hypothesis of prescriptions.

Forest musk deer (Moschus berezovskii), a rare wild medicinal animal, is listed under the category of the state key protected wildlife list of China. Musk, secreted by the musk glands, is with high economic and medicinal value and used as precious traditional medicine in China. In order to meet the needs of musk in Chinese traditional medicine, forest musk deer farming was conducted in 1950s, but the research progress on musk secretion mechanism was slow. Therefore, by reviewing the histological and anatomical structure of forest musk deer musk gland, the relationship between sex hormones and the musk secretion process, and the molecular mechanism of the musk secretion, the existing problems in investigating the musk secretion mechanism were analyzed and the development trends in this field were also discussed, in order to provide a reference for further studies on the musk secretion mechanism and improve musk production of forest musk deer.

Objective To investigate the expressions of regulatory T cell (Treg) and interleukin-35 (IL-35) in patients with cholangiocarcinoma and to explore their clinical significance.Methods Flow-cytometry,PCR,Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (Elisa) and immunohistochemistry were used to detect the levels of Treg and IL-35 in peripheral blood and cholangiocarcinoma tissues in 42 patients with cholangiocarcinoma.Healthy volunteers were used as a control group.Result The percentage of Treg cells to CD4 + T cells in patients with cholangiocarcinoma was (5.6 ± 1.7) ％,while that in the normal control group was (2.9 ± 0.8) ％.There was a significant difference between the two groups (P ＜ 0.05).The plasma levels of IL-35 in patients with cholangiocarcinoma was (198.4 ± 81.4) pg/ml,while that in the normal control group was (33.7 ± 18.0) pg/ml.Again,a significant difference was observed between the two groups (P ＜ 0.05).In peripheral blood mononuclear cell,the IL-35 mRNA level was positively correlated with the plasma IL-35 level (p35,R =0.795,P ＜0.05;EBI3,R =0.812,P ＜ 0.05).Immunohistochemical studies showed that FOXP3 + tumor cells and Treg cells increased significantly in tumor tissues.Conclusion Overexpressions of Treg and IL-35 in peripheral blood and tumor tissues of patients with cholangiocarcinoma suggested that they may play important roles in the development of cholangiocarcinoma.

A creatininase produced from a Arthrobacter sp. was purified 145-fold by a series of steps including heat treatment, ammonium sulfate precipitation, DEAE-Cellulose ion-exchange and hydrophobic chromatography. The specific activity of the pure enzyme was 209u/mg. The subunit molecular mass of creatininase was estimated to be 33 700D by SDS-PAGE. The creatininase was stable in the pH range between 6.0 - 9.0 and below 60 degrees C . Its Km value for creatinine was estimated to be 21.14 mmol/L. The enzyme was markedly inactivated by incubation with 1 mmol/L of Hg2+, Ag2+, Li+, Cu2+ and 20 mmol/L of 1, 11-Phananthroline respectively. Activation was observed when the enzyme was incubated with 1 mmol/L of Co2+ and Mn2+.

Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics and recent curative effect of mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) after conventional treatment.Methods Clinical data of 15 MCL patients admitted in the Affiliated Hospital of Academy of Military Medical Sciences between August 2004 and October 2013 were retrospectively analyzed.Results The median age of those patients was 59 and the male to female ratio was 1.5∶1.Fourteen(93%)cases were in Ann-Arbor stages Ⅲ -Ⅳ, 15 cases (100%)primarily with lymph node involvement,7 cases (47%)with bone marrow involvement,4 cases (27%)with gastrointestinal involvement,and 3 cases (20%)with orbit involvement.Less than 40% expression of Ki-67 was observed in 9 cases (60%),while 6 cases were with more than 40% (40%).One case was blastic variant.First-line therapy was CHOP-like regimens,which were combined with rituximab in 8 of the 15 cases.In this study,the median survival time was 12 months (3 -64),and the overal response rate was 80%after induction chemotherapy.The current survival of 7 /9 cases with less than 40% expression of Ki-67 was 8 -64 months,2 /6 cases with more than 40% expression of Ki-67 was 8 and 9 months,respectively.Conclusion MCL mostly occurs in older males.Extranodal invasion is common in MCL as an aggressive tumor.The efficacy of traditional chemotherapy is currently limited.Blastic variant or high expression of Ki-67 is an adverse prognostic indicator.

Forest musk deer is one of the large-scale farming musk deer animals with the largest population at the same time. The male musk deer can secrete valuable medicines, which has high medicinal and economic value. Due to the loss of habitat and indiscriminate hunting, the numbers of wild population specie and the distribution have been drastically reduced. Therefore, in-depth understanding of the molecular genetics progress of forest musk deer will pave a way for musk deer protection and breeding. In this review, the progress associated with the molecular marker, genetic classification, artificial breeding, musk secretion and disease in past decades were reviewed, in order to provide a theoretical basis for subsequent molecular genetic researches in forest musk deer.

ObjectiveTo observe the activity and safety of a novel combination therapy for patients with recurrent or refractory aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).MethodsSix consecutive patients with recurrent or refractory aggressive NHL were treated with B-VIP regimen,boanmycin (5 mg/m2 on Days 1,4,8,12 and 15),vincristine (1.4 mg/m2 on Days 1,8 and 15),ifosfamide (1.2 g/m2 on Days 1,2,3 and 15,16,17) and prednisone (50 mg on Days 1 to 10),every 21 days.All the patients had received ≥5 cycles (average 8.3 cycles) of previous chemotherapy.ResultsSix patients (100 ％) were evaluable for response.The overall objective response rate was 66.7 ％ (4 patients),including 1 case complete (CR) and 3 cases partial responses.Myelosuppression was the most frequent serious complication of this regimen.ConclusionIn the current study,B-VIP was a highly active and safe combination therapy for patients with refractory disease with a poor prognosis or for patients with multiply recurrent aggressive NHL.

Objective To explore the relationship between pulse wave velocity(PWV)and blood pressure classification and cardiovascular risk factors stratification in patients with essential hypertension. Methods Totally,390 patients with essential hypertension were recruited in the study and their carotid- femoral PWVs were recorded by an automatic pulse wave velocity measurement system.The patients were stratified by their cardiovascular risk factors.PWVs were compared between patients with varied blood pressures or with and without cardiovascular risk factors.Results There was no significant difference in PWV between patients of phase 1 and phase 2 hypertension,[(10.8?1.7)m/s vs.(11.9?1.2)m/s,P =0.398].PWV in patients with more than one risk factor was significantly higher than that in those with hypertension alone,[(10.4?1.4)m/s vs.(11.7?1.4)m/s,P=0.018].Conclusions PWV in hypertensive patients with one or more than one other risk factors was significantly higher than that in those without other risk factors.Cardiovascular risk factor might play a more important role in arterial stiffness.
